PARAPHRASING MAX WEBER

Capitalism. It is what it is;
Accurate and efficient ...
Pity that humans
egoistically little understand it ...

Connivance can be pusilamine,
But it's not a sign of weakness ...
It is an option for the strongest!

In politics, it is not used
Just good for the good ...
Not even evil for evil ...
Everything can be reversed,
It depends on the support you have ...!

In politics you live for her,
or if you live it ...
Usually the two
practices are confused ...

Sometimes everything we need,
It's a right word, at the right time
To then realize the act ...!

No Ideology

Watch out for that ideology
Bad effects on your psychology
It bleeds into our sociology
‘Til we hate one another’s biology

Let’s make a pact
To get our facts together
Have no ideology
Whatsoever

Hitler and Stalin and Mao and Amin –
Terminating angels of some fantastic machine
Marx and Weber and Keynes and Rand
Raised a fist of thought in hand

But Peter and Paul and the whole Roman Church
Didn’t wanna leave anyone in the lurch
Ho Chi Minh shoved me on a Mekong barge
Meanwhile, the Castros were living large

Let’s make a pact
To get our facts together
Have no ideology
Whatsoever

Apostles, ideologues, acolytes –
Whatever gets you thru the glassy night
The world is your battleground and you must fight
Just watch for the mines under your short sights

That I’ll meet some nice cahtholic boy online

I need my Christmas loot on time

Premium Member Cats On Broadway

He’d a fetish feline without doubt
so did Tom, his sick mania flout
make phantasmagorical
a new categorical
and then Andrew did let the cat out.

Twas a bargain at just half the price
Nunn and Weber made Memory nice
blending words of a poet
with some music to show it
to find lightning can sometimes strike twice.

How Many Syllables

To Those I Have Lost

with the corona virus upon us
I am bracing to hear the news
that so and so has died

I reflect back
on all the people in my life
that I have already lost

part of being older
is that you lose people
close to you along the way

I lost my father due to cancer in 1985
and my sister due to a freak illness in 2007
and my mother due to Alzheimer's in 2005
and my father-in-law as well in 2007

Demel Tucker
high school debate teammate
dead of HIV in 1995

Julian Bartley and his son
one of my favorite bosses
died in a terrorist bombing
in Nairobi in 1998

Jon Weber college roommate
dead due to prostate cancer
in 2000

Paul Simon friend from the visa line
dropped dead of a heart attack
in 2004

Ted Halstead
one of my best bosses
died of heart attack
in 2007

Chris Richard one of my former bosses
dropped dead of a heart attack
shortly before we were due
to have lunch in 2014

and so many others
I have lost
along the way

and soon there will be
so many more
as I get old
in the corona era

Tragic Life

TRAGIC LIFE / TRAGIC DEATH ~
     A Holocaust Story

The odds were stacked against us
With hearts that beat so strong
Our only crime was loving God
Please tell me how that's wrong

The soldiers beat the wooden door
As my mom began to cry
I've never seen my dad so scared
And I wasn't sure just why

We ran fast, and then we hid
For I know it seemed like years
We carried with us nothing
Except paralyzing fears

The soldiers, when they found us
They screamed "We found the Jews"
We knew we couldn't fight
If we did, we'd only lose

They took us to a place
The place was called "the camp"
We were each assigned a number
Which on our arms was stamped

My mother and my father
Both grew very thin
They soon became just a shell
Of who they once had been

And then one day I lost them
To a room suffused with gas
They took most of my people
And murdered them in mass

Millions of the chosen lives
Senselessly were lost
At the hands of one called Hitler
And the tragic HOLOCAUST!!

Awakening

AWAKENING

From behind the curtain

with boldness and grace,

she glides onto the stage…

Awakening

"How beautiful!" "Gorgeous!" "So elegant!"

The audience applauds her appearance.

"Is it me they speak of, and not someone else?"

Awakening

She opens her mouth; all eyes are upon her.

Her words soothe their ears like a song.

"What I have said, do they truly understand?"

Awakening

The last line is spoken; she begins to take a bow.

A tear forms in her eye.

"Is this all there is? Is this the end of the story?"

Awakening

Life can seem so empty when we expect too much.

Many times things are not what they seem.

Keep searching though, do not give up hope…

seek the truth…for it is there that your light shall beam…

Awakening
