The Only Gold I Ever Owned

This dying oak leaf
Between my fingers was
The only gold I ever owned

Not that I can say
It was really mine

Just something 
To keep for awhile 
While September was
Here with me

That leaf played with me
Running rings around
My wrinkling fingers 
For minutes …
That felt like hours

Then, with palms open
I let gold go …
Back to where it belonged

Wealth can be wonderful and a curse, it can make you do stuff that is not nice. 
It can control your every move, making you into a slave for use. 
Wealth needs attention and needs more, more money to grow and control all of the earth. 
Wealth is a manmade substance it controls the flow

Wood as gold

Wood polished so bright to mimic gold,
Its yellow coat glitters in the sun,
May even fetch a high price when sold,
And still be cherished in the long run.

Like a flawless gold that flaunts great wealth,
Its glamour, a pride to regal thrones,
Where most kings recline in pride and health,
Yet it's mere wood disguised as gemstones.

It is perfectly fine
to chase wealth
to build a life of gold
and a career that sparkles in the sun.

But it is not fine to forget
what it means to be just
to lose the path of virtue
for Dharma is the soul’s compass
and without it, even grace demands a cost

The end of days is a term
Dark enough
To make men squirm

To make one consider

On what I wrought

Then the book that tallies sums
Finds me wanting
And then some

fancy toys
nor much wealth

The Bath House

Atop a bed of plastic
In a house made of bone
I am helpless to feel Rome’s revival
Men become sheep and wolves
Crusaders line up for war
Careless toward their fellow heretic
Houses burn
Stone pillars rise from foundations
All as the sands of time bury the path forward
Yet even as they do, water still runs in the bath house

Private School

Do not go to that private school,
It will affect your mental health,
While the education is full of wealth,
Do not put yourself on that shelf,
That shelf is isolated and docile, 
Alone despite being surrounded, 
A dumb decision to make as a fool,
Used as a tool to start up something new,
