My magical Chinese garden
was small:
tiny willows
pagodas
and mulberry trees
emerging serenely
from the mist
pastelwise
like Shangri-La over and over
on the far side of
an equally diminutive stream
under a parchment sky.
Slipping unnoticed over the footbridge
at the top of the stairs
I’d wait alone under the willow
overhanging the bank
ribbonfluttering silvergreen in the breeze
where their wintry silences couldn’t reach me,
hoping that maybe
I’d meet another

Prison Wallpaper
Encage us we are of collective souls
Display us in prisoned wallpaper as ghouls
Send us into these sepsis tanks, in tin cans
in torture dungeons, in faraway lands
Mistaken for us are the migrants
who

Layers of Life
Walking through the door of my childhood home
brought back tsunami of wisdom overture.
Tastes and colours in décor change with culture;
varied pallet of history in lands roam’.
My children had turned out to be a challenge
as they had early on displayed my talent
for examining and questioning latent
defects papered over; now seeking balance.
We’d a small, intimate wedding reception.
The

Heard Wallpaper Peeling
I heard the wallpaper start peeling off the wall in the kitchen.
Garth my pet giraffe must be still be ferociously itch’n.
Penguin waddles up to give me his slanted report.
I ask about the chipmunks – Nancy, Herman and Mort.
They scurry up to show me the tattoos on their tails.
I say, “you can accompany me to dinner

Wallpaper
Pale and pasty, my face.
Disappearing into stripes - regaling no stance.
Gone - no trace.
Red hair…freckles.
Please, won’t someone ask me to dance?
…heckles.
Heart’s weak…
Is there no chance?!
Speak!
Pale and pasty, my face.
Please, won’t someone ask me to dance?
Speak!

Wallpaper
The room was dank and dreary
The past hung in the air
There was a scent of mildew
A smell of history was there
The paint was old and faded
With stains all dark and brown
The wallpaper too was dated
And it needed to come down
It was a home for 50 years
That stood so strong and proud
It comforted all of our

Butterfly Wallpaper
Does that make it unjust.
That I not share every detail that bursts open inside me.
Every time I hear your name.
Every time that I think about you.
I admit that it comes as unjust.
That it's an unhealthy habit as eventually it has nowhere else to go.
But instead to suffocate everything that it touches.
These butterflies that I

The Wallpaper
It looked like a shark
Or a whale
In the waters so pure they floated
In a light so bright they greeted
The water was bubbling with the breaths
Of these
Again it may have been a whale or a shark
In the great artist's mind
Creatures so free
Only a mind could feel
The windows of tomorrow
Floated high
Again like the great beasts of the

You'Re My Wallpaper
It’s the weekend
And my weak begins
I can’t pretend
That your memories fill my lungs
My knees are bruised
My inner eye opens
I follow the wind
As it blows through memories’ curtains…
Chorus
I’m lost…in a sea of tears
Can’t you see me
‘cos you’re all I see…you’re my wallpaper
I lie in bed and you cover my ceiling
I look in the mirror
And I

Fly On the Wallpaper
Tonight I’m dressed up
in the finest wallpaper
As you waltz by
With your shiny
Trophy of the week
Oh, you should be
A fly on my Wall
I rolled up in the edges
Of the Seventh Day Herald
News of your Armageddon
In my hands
Splat!

WALLPAPER

Paper Thin
Cut down to any size,
Crumble, crop me wrong
Pull the insulation from my heart.
Never will I be "A Paper Doll!"
Thank you for calling me a "Friend!"
Thank you for wasting my "time!"
Enjoy the WALLPAPER display

Emotional poster boards of doubt
Envious fiberglass green never seen

Wallpaper
Moon is shining,
window to the soul,
stare through
the paper doll,
wallpaper hearts
are raining
water rivulets,
leading lines.
Into the ocean,
dreams and wishes
washed up
the rocky shore,
starry expanse,
scars and clouds,
laughing scissors
cut into flesh.
Forget the heart
and hopes behind,
learn to forget,
remember that.

Wallpaper
A piece of paper
on a wall
it is an exercise
not too small
They come in rolls
from many a shade
to suit all types
both public and trade
The lady likes a flower
on a nice pattern
a kid likes it bright
but others just like to discern
While some are costly
and some come cheap
it’s your own decision
as it’s yours to keep
