Visit beautiful Michigan Avenue
The ‘Magnificent Mile’
See the teenage gangs at night
roaming ‘gangster-style’
Admire block after block on ‘the strip’
Madison Avenue, the Old West Side
burnt down by arson way back in 1968
embers still afloat – Don’t they smell great
Take a walk on the Wild Side
The South Side that once hosted Nat King Cole
Note the empty lots, broken glass and one-eyed cats
What a pleasure to take in all that…
Yes, dear friends, a trip to Chicago’s just the thing
Come to a town where crime is king
Lewis Allen Reed
was a really odd breed
wanted to take us all for a ride
but wrote about taking a walk on the wild side
When I awaken in the morn
I am thankful I am born
I have chosen
To walk on the wild side
on occasion involving adventurism
I might think bout jez fer a second
or incident involving risky, or morally questionable behavior
Then I think to myself
Hey!
Wait ain’t naw mis-behaving
As I go through the day
I should have prayed
But God and His guardian angels have….
Placed a hedge of protection
Round me
Walk down these streets
Could be killin me
When I stare at the sun I view
A glare sight being taken
When I speed in my car, do donuts
Walk on ice slip and fall
Guess I’m just walkin on the wild side
Just livin in this day
Whether or not I pray
Breathing this old air, drinking this water
Just being alive in the dispensation of time
I am taking a walk on the wild side

SUMMERTIMES MAGIC.
Summertimes magic makes a fine holiday,
Where lands of enchantment, invite us to stay.
The lure of the wild, or, in peaceful solace,
These wonderful places we love to embrace.
To dive coral reefs, with it's blues and the greens of aquamarine,
Or tantalise tastebuds, with exquisite cusine.
By dining al fresco, while taking a cruise,
And drink cocktails at eight, mixed with green chartreuse.
With the tang of sliced lemon or sweet tangerine,
Those bountiful fruits will keep palates clean.
A walk on the wild side, delightfully charms,
With the heady perfume, passing lavender farms.
Those waysides and byways, when we need to refresh
At watermelon stalls quenching thirsts we stay fresh.
From the pale lilac crocus, a fine yellow spice,
For exotic dishes, saffron flavoured, served with rice.
All beautiful memories, under cerulean skies,
It's summertimes magic, which fill misty eyes.
8/ 16/ 2017.
I was always the good kid
I didn't do anything wrong
Until that summer day
My bad girl came a long
Drinking her parents booze
Skinny dipping in their pool
Listening to Rock music
For the first time I felt cool
Exploring each others bodies
With more than just eyes
Moments felt like hours
As passion was realized
When the summer ended
She went her own way
I was left broken hearted
I guess bad girls never stay
Sometimes I do wonder
Was I ever that guy
That part of me I miss
Although I wonder why
Youthful indiscretion
A walk on the wild side
A cute girl in my arms
A really crazy ride
Greatly missed Contest (old Poems)
Written in 2012
Allow me to walk on the wild side
Take my hand and guide me there
Help me climb out of the box
A box that is plain and bare
Show me what it's like to live
Outside of my naive realm
Let me see that which is unseen
To explore another playground
You can trust me with your secrets
And help me to uncover mine
Extend my minds eyes open
Guide me to a new place to see
My skin exposed and fragile
Absorbing you like a sponge
Embracing all you offer me
Until all my learning is done
Its then that we can be merged
Good girl and wild side become one
There is nothing like waking from a sleep
Slowly remembering parts of a dream
They are all yours and yours to keep
Woken up by a morning sunbeam
If your lucky a sleep will befall you
Dreaming that dream into oblivion
Walk on the wild side, stay cool
Why not make love on that bearskin
Continuation dreams are the best
You can to kill the beast and get the girl
There's really nothing to confess
You know it's all a different world
Wake to remember her subtle scent
Recollecting a fading interlude
Wondering where the morning went
Then realizing you slept till noon
Just listen to Lou Reed
and smoke some weed
it's so cold in Alaska
and, it sucks to live in Nebraska
haha you have this punk in you!
let it get through
Rebel! Rebel! where did my Rebels go?
did they all go 6 feet below?
take a walk on the wild side
lets go on that high tide
rebels please my rebels come back
are world is under attack
don't be a poser or a fake
for goodness sake
let go of that punk hiden within!
be true to what you belive in
