Premium MemberPoetic Podcast Episode 42

The world now is overflowing with filters,
fast five stars, and a multitude of clickbait.
Society has become an abstract definition,
devoid of any type of civilized boundaries.
I want the honesty of naked conversation
and the ability to discover truth for myself.

We have a license to be phony.
Go on I dare you, take off that mask.

Mugwump mentality is an easy out,
opinions that flex with every audience.
How to research with contaminated tools,
the sixty four thousand dollar question.
It’s getting so bleak sadness is hot,
how can I relate when I honestly don’t.
Pushed aside because I’m not drowning.
Yes, I do have an air of confidence.

We have a license to be phony.
Go on I dare you, take off that mask.

I won’t play the victim when I’m not,
nor wave a flag I don’t fully understand.
Authenticity is the only brand for me,
whether I am the black sheep or hyped
by that brand new trick up my sleeve.
All the make up will come off in the wash.

We have a license to get phony.
Go on I dare you, take off that mask.

Premium MemberBring it on

Kinda lost right now.
Do not know how
To point myself in the right way
Stuck in today
Did not think I would be alive
All that jive.
Did not make any plans on what to do
True
They give me more life
Add to my strife
More lonely for me
This is what I see
No one to talk to
No me an you
Sitting out in the wilds all I know
It does show
I want to leave
For what has been lost I grieve
No trick up my sleeve
My dog and I
Reach for the sky
Teardrops none see fall
Huddled backs against the wall
Thankful to be alive, do not get me wrong
Life takes so long
What do I do next
Not to be taken out of text
Looking only for beauty to fill my eyes
Clear blue skies
Love is but lies
Back away from that ledge
Standing on the edge
Hope for a better tomorrow
Love, you can never borrow
Hearts hold so much sorrow
More lonely days
Lost is my care free ways
Looking for home
To tired to roam
None in sight
A long cold night
I am the light
Standing strong
Life gone wrong
Turn this page
Lifes ever changing stage
Bring it on
Bring it on
I will survive
Long as I am alive

Premium MemberIts Always Christmas To Me

Before you know it’s already here
Fillin’ us with hope and cheer
You feel it in your fingers and toes
Strangers smiling and sayin’ hello

To many it’s a sweet surprise a crazy high it’s almost like
A long lost friend they've been waitin’ to see
But for me the feelin’ never fades the magic never goes away
It’s always Christmas to me

No matter what the day may be
Santa’s got a trick up his sleeve
The bells are ringin’ in my ear
Lights are shinin’ love is near

Whether snow is touchin’ down the sun is heatin’ up the ground
Frosty’s gettin’ jolly or the elves are asleep
The holly’s in my hopeful heart long before December starts
It’s always Christmas to me

I don’t have to see it to believe it no no no
It’s wonderfully magical so fantastical why would I let that go

To many it’s a sweet surprise a crazy high it’s almost like
A long lost friend they've been waitin’ to see
But for me the feelin’ never fades the magic never goes away

It’s always Christmas to me

Premium MemberGarth and His Mouse

Garth was a cat with an attitude, and he was grayscale true.
He had a pet mouse. I did not dare chase him. Did you?
Other cats had tried to entice Garth to loan out his mouse.
Notorious bankers went so far as to put a lien on his house.

Therapist Cat tried to psychoanalyze Garth, thinking him mad.
These interfering cats were truly mean, some rather bad.
Cat burglar Cat tried to sneak in and steal the mouse away.
He had bragged to many that he thought mice were tasty that day.

Garth outsmarted each cat that had a trick up his paw.
He had a pet crow with an extremely loud noisy caw.
The crow was promised jewelry of gold and silver too.
If he would wake up Garth when danger was due.

So, between Garth and the crow, the little mouse was safe.
He was a sweet little thing, he had a cute rather round face.
He was not grayscale but a happy pink color Garth craved.
They were a mighty twosome; and together the elements they braved.

Premium MemberTo Eve's Drop, Or Not To Eavesdrop

Forbidden fruit they had eaten
At the bidding of the snake
New ashamed that they were naked
They had to cover up, for Heaven's sake

"Adam, lets sew ourselves some fig-leaves."
"Sounds good to me, dear Eve."
God paid them no attention
Had he a trick up His sleeve?

Instead of random eavesdropping
   The Lord did something eye-popping
He searched for Adam as if He had no clue
Then cried out, "Man, where are you?!"

Did the All-Seeing not know Man's whereabouts?
Did He need resort to a primal shout?...

Within God's question lies a lesson
to which some choose to adhere
God does not want man to eavesdrop
          ~ Do you hear?

Adam With Tricks Up His Sleeve

Husband Adam would brag to wife Eve:
"I have many a trick up my sleeve."
But alas! He was nude
so — a sleeve-challenged dude.
That's why Eve was so hard to deceive.

Premium MemberFor Kids To Believe

'Twas the night before Christmas...I was home all alone
I had nothing to do...so I wrote down a poem
I just couldn't get it...my poem to look right
Perhaps, it would look better...if I had turned on the light

Words were mspeld...and some were left out
The light would have helped...for sure, no doubt
Ten times I re-wrote it...I drank ten cups of tea
It took me ten hours...boy oh boy, ten times I did pee

I wrote about Santa...for all the children to believe
I figured out what to write...I had a trick up my sleeve
I wrote in my poem...so that all the kids knew
That Santa's real mother...well, she was a Jew

After finishing my poem...I readied myself
I fixed up my sleigh...and I hired an elf
To take hold of the reigns...and to deliver my poem
To put in the stockings...in every kids home

Premium MemberThe Magic of Outdoors

THE MAGIC OF OUTDOORS

he moved slow, with a limp
his cane grinding
in the dirt, grating on the pavement

his hat always prompt on his head
as he headed into the cold dark wind

then it swirled
the magic
a trick up his sleeve
pulled out some cards
laid them down
they were aces

a smile seasoned through the clouds
of old age and doubt

he tipped his hat at some pretty lady
and then twirled his hat on one finger
as his feet forgot to nap

the crowd looked down
as his toes began tapping
within his shiny shoes

he swayed side to side
as a song played in his head
and blasted out from the recoiled headphones
of a stunned teenager

an old timey ritz
his cane became his instructional instrument
poised between his hands

this song and dance man
charmed the lackadaisical crowd
mesmerized...surprised
held captive in pied piper effect

a light rain drizzled
his effervescent energy drizzled
his cane poked the puddles
as he headed home

his wife exclaimed
as he limped through the door
a smile on lips
and a radiant face,
“Oh my those walks sure do you good”

“Join me one day, my dear! We should make a great team”

The Game Show of Life

Sat by my desk day after day
Working here only for the monthly pay
Eight hours a day, five days per week
Every day I sit and shriek
At the constant barrage of abuse
With confusion leaving everything obtuse

People are in and out every hour
As if trying to escape the rain shower
Asking us the most irrelevant questions
Ignoring all our purposeful suggestions
Never knowing when to leave
As if they have a another trick up their sleeve

The end of the working day will be here soon enough
And I will be sitting in the bus stop waiting in hand-cuffs
Waiting to be taken to my prison cell called home
where I spend all my time on my own
No-one knows my pain cause I’m a simple man
But, A simple man that doesn’t have a plan

Night time arrives and the candle is dim
I need to stop being so grim
And try and make the most of my short life
I need to get out in the night and find myself a wife
It’s easier said than done as we all know
But, It’s time to realise this is not a game show

Statesmen 17

We've learned what our statesmen seek to achieve:
Thinking we'd believe all that we receive.
We perceive each view and trick up their sleeve,
These elegant thieves, who try to deceive.
Mistaking our peeves, they call us naïve;
In lieu of reprieve - our sad hearts must grieve.

Premium MemberWhen It's My Turn To Leave

What will you do when I leave you in kind,
Though you’re treasured like apples and boon to the mind...
How to handle the fading of dreams that we share?

Favorite chair that’s seems empty and sad,
Or a poem that vivified both mom and dad...
Think of dawns you awoke and discovered me there!

Can death be real or is it too a dream...
And does life always stay in the bed of its stream?
Might the future still have some new trick up its sleeve?

Love seems quite real though it cannot be seen...
Even winter plays role on a planet that’s green,
I’m expecting surprise when it’s my turn to leave.

I use to think I had it all
Now I hope you trip and fall

All you do is put me down
I walk around with a big frown

I used to think you cared
How could life be so unfair

    Years later I'm still here
" Waiting" on you my dear

       Why am I still here?
I know it can't be fear

Maybe I'm just used to a fool
  That barely passed high school

As I watch you lay your head
I'm picturing our old class mate Fred

I wish I had the nerve to leave
Or I had a devious trick up my sleeve

Oh darn you are about to wake
And I become a actress and fake, fake, fake.

Stuff the Stuff

Even the holiest couldn't know Him but a glimpse was enough
Going through times so grim life wasn't about the worldly stuff
They shined through these moments giving God all the praise
They never sat on the fence in so by following the Lord's Ways

But today it is a different story too many people are distracted
They can not see God's Glory for His Light satan has refracted
Yet His Light is still there His Glory was, is and will never cease
You should read up on His Story and not let the devil so fleece

In prison they would sing and what happened to Paul and Silas
Let's say freedom would ring, The Rescuer of all from the abyss
But many don't sing, in fact in His Name they don't even believe
And to them these words do not ring another trick up his sleeve

For either you're in or you're out yet only God knows your heart
He knows your every single doubt the very instant of it's start
He knows you so well but it is you who needs to open the door
So many picking hell when there was so much, so much more

Bribery But No Corruption - Contest

Would run you a hot bath
Bubbles up to your chin
Bottle of wine chilling

If you'd let me win

Would ask a sexy hunk
To sponge your back
Say sweet words in your ears
Bet you'd like that

Please can I win.

After the bath a nice massage,
By A film star lookalike
Any extras can be charged

Wink wink now can I win

Can make a video or two
You as the dream girl
A leading man with a bit of rough
Being sensual with you

Please please let me win

How about a two seater sports car
With a lean mean chauffeur
He can take you far
Journey of your own making

Please make my poem a star.

When your day is through
You can go on having fun
In a big bed for two

Now can I have that crown

One more trick up my sleeve
Would you like a Pentax 645x Camera to keep
I understand it's not cheap
But would be worth buying you,

if you let me win.
