Swinging facing away from the brightest yellow sunset.
Fondly recalling all of the kind and friendly people I've met.
Basking in a newfound freedom, jumping off the swing set.

There’s no one in the playground
When I walk at break of day.
The jungle gyms are empty
Since no climbing’s underway.
The slides and swings are waiting
For the toddlers and the tots
Who, with nannies, moms or dads
Will later come to claim their spots.
And yet this morning, I observed
A woman swinging high,
Her legs a‘pumping with the force
To take her to the sky.
Her little dog sat patiently
Until her steam ran out,
A private moment to enjoy
With no one else about.

The swinging ghost was giggling into the wind
October magic gave her a heart leap and grin.
This is the coolest air, and the best weather!
Overjoyed to be swinging; her name was Heather.

Singing out my heart,
Waiting for a brand new start,
Swinging in the dark.

What
is the
neon mauve
moon without trails
of twinkling twilight stars that swing in skies?
Perhaps, memories are just fluorescent
leaves that sing in
lifeline-ink
of the
past,
stained
with pearl-
pastels of
present seconds,
pulsating heartbeats without 'You and I'.

How's your day, swinging from the trees?
Mine's an absolute winner, a ten outta ten?
They're coming along more often lately
Is it just that I'm no longer aware?
One day just runs into another
Perhaps my age has a lot to do with it
Not aware as I used to be
Guess my engine is running out of gas
The way I feel I'll still be around for a while
There's no guarantees but I'm feeling good
Don't think there are many at 87
That can say that? Just guessing though
Don't really know the statistics

There is a sky swinging duck in the sky, in the sky.
He is pumping his feet bye and bye, bye and bye.
I see him up there, oh so high, oh, so high!
The altitude makes my eyes cry, cry, cry, cry.
How did the swinging duck get up there so high?
See him way way way up there, in the pretty sky?
He looks eager to jump, but if he did, he might die!
I am scared to watch this sky swinging duck. This is no lie!

I’m upset with smug Peter Pig
Who’d promised we could dance a jig
But spies my bent trotter
Gets nasty - the rotter
I call him an ignorant prig!
I’ve got a disability
But nothing will ever stop me
I’m a feisty young sow
So I'll never kowtow
Swing dancing makes me so happy
How quickly I'd learned how to dance -
Six lessons from my cousin Lance
When I dance Lindy Hop
I just don’t want to stop
My dancing may lead to romance
Young Percy took me by the hand
Well trotter; but you’ll understand
When we danced the pig jive
He made me feel alive
We’re dating now, life is just grand!

Where is she? I whispered.
She is magical, no telling where.
Her parents pointed to the ceiling.
I went to the roof.
Saw the stars.
She is higher than that, her brother told me.
She has gone to the heavens.
She is up there swinging now.
I was surprised he was okay with this.
But she had suffered for a long time.
She is swinging in the stars
Loving her new life
Suffering no more
The moon winked at me
You will be okay Grandma

Swinging
We’re but a leaf
Swinging by a breath in the breeze
At the edge
Taking a leap
The faith in the flame
Clinging to hope
Without the grasp of hold
Molded clay
One with the earth

I watched my TV and I laughed
The boxing was really quite daft
They kept social distance
No punch met resistance
But one caught a cold from the draught

The big gate swings both ways.
Ponderous and slow, with
Children hanging from it.
High enough at posts end
For kids to scramble under,
Entering the farmer’s field
Where brown and white cows
graze lazily among yellow-bright dandelions
impervious to their dwindling hours.
They perch near the post,
Dragging one foot across the ground,
Feeling resistance as they swing across
The distance of each moment;
Out there in the middle, the gate swings low;
Close to the ground where it fans the flies off cow paddies.
The children swing with all their weight,
Drawing lines across a caked mud road;
The metal gate is painted white,
With brown age spots of rust,
Just as the brown and white cows
Safely kept within the field.
The children leap from one gate to the other,
Always reaching for another gate to swing on.
They swing so freely into the smiling face
Of their summer God, unaware,
That one day they will swing
On gates that are made of pearl.

Once, a fellow was swinging on a swing
Which was elfin when comparing
Then the swing splintered
He fell and and fractured his head
And shrilled along with a loud ping

stopped along the road
to synthesize a poem
a feathery mimosa
honeysuckle vine
entwined my mind with its scent
the sweetened sapling of youth
the flutter of faeries
and butterflies on wild rose
I’m swinging on memories
held tight, wild hair asunder

A tire swing
A water hole
A hound named Blue
A summer day
Throw off the shirt
Kick off each shoe
I am eight
The perfect age
To rig up my own tire swing
But Uncle Pete
Came down to help
And here I be
A grateful boy
Swinging away in the sun
Nothing ever again has been this kind of fun!
