Sweet-scented breeze when wafts around,
A thrilled Koyal breaks into song,
On tree branches fresh sprouts abound,
On her face, love-making gone long,
Pearly sweat beads do when alight,
To whom would a scene not delight?

Translation (sestet*) | 33.08.2025 | spring, night, delight, nightingale, nostalgia
*Wonder, if it can be called a Sestetto Rima-- iambic meter with a rhyme scheme of ABABCC.
Note: Here is a verse (in Harini meter) from Bhartrihari’s Shringaara Shatakam (hundred verses on love and romance). The poet paints here a picture of a spring season in full spell: when fragrance wafts around, tender sprouts surround, a Koyal sings, sweat beads alight from her face from prolonged coitus, who’d not get delighted? Here is the transliteration of the Sanskrit verse:
Parimala amrtah vatah shakha nava-ankura-kotayo,
Madhura-viruta-utkantha vachah priyah pika pakshinam |
Virala surata sveda-udgara vadhu-vadana-indavah,
Prasarati madhau ratryam jatah na kasya guna-udayah || 37 ||
The mild breezes
Fragrances from the natural aromas of flowers
Romance stirring up the warmth
The enjoyment of the outdoors
Beauty of Flower colors
Distinction at its best
Dazzling the senses
Refreshing thoughts
Conversations one to one another
Coming out of hibernations
The feeling in what spring brings
April Showers May flowers
Spring step out
The sun that shines
Togetherness all genuine
Spring forth
Perfect time to spring out
The Spring season applause as people move about.
eyes met, magnetic, melting every fear, thirst quenching
as the stars left a dewy trail on the twilight
flowing in secret rhythms of heartfelt passions
stirring awake the feelings reflected in this tender gaze
The light is bright
as I slip from under the covers
yet the house groans and creaks
and the ghost of winter lurks
within the walls.
When I was a child
a teacher said
first there was light
but I remember
the night I danced
under the cover of darkness.
When I go downstairs
the sun shining through the window
shows clutter, life’s imperfection
as I slip from the embrace
of last night’s dreams
of someone I loved
but that was long ago.
I must walk through the clutter
to step outside and feel a warm breeze
and let the day begin for me.
Branches of bare limbs dance
in a warm breeze
as they wait to bloom.
New life, a soothsayer says.
A poetic leap, I say,
as I grasp the wheel
and drive toward the sun.
what stream of romance
nice gush and neat rush spring forth
springily love meet
Rather should the winter never end,
If I should meet the spring without thy hand.
The seasons our souls do summers send,
And all do fall upon our hearts’ command.
I miss you
like the parched earth thirsts for the rain
I miss you
like the nightingale's song heralds the coming of spring
I miss you
like the night birds wait for the darkness to fall
I miss you
like a warm campfire on a chilly wintry night
I miss you
like the sunshine on a damp cloudy day
I miss you
infinitely in every possible way
Do you miss me like I do?
I am not the perfect poet,
you and I both know it,
though surely we could share,
our time with rhyme and reason,
springtime, snowdrop, couplets,
summer days of sunshine sonnets,
autumnal skies of falling paper leaves,
winters filled with warming verse?
Perhaps I've been too scared,
to tempt, or fraternise with fate,
now having taken too long,
and having left it all so late,
to pen this page,
with words of alliterative verse,
against this world of woe,
where life's adversities seem to get worse,
I'm plucking up the courage now,
to ask if you and me,
could possibly agree,
provided it's not problematic,
provided this is not treason,
that I could somehow be,
your poet for all seasons?
Spring is romance
Where flowers bloom everywhere
Feels you in a trance.
Velvet wings of brown, blue and ebon midnight hue
farfalla butterflies that soar close to magic colugos
spring is here hanging in with wonder, life renews
as the sun shines soft, from here to sweet Montego
Green lush leafy branches waving in the breeze
wood peckers, hummingbirds and columbidaes
monarchs, swallowtails, yellow painted ladies
winds of change arrive alongside warmer days
I sing me a tune that has a melody real sweet
reminding me of summers that came and went
I sing about the flowers growing in my suite
while strolling down a path of glorious wente
With a spring in my step I shuffle and dance
knowing I am more than ready for romance
Spring Enchantment (a love poem)
As wisps of clouds creeped
overhead before a storm moving quickly east,
the moon lay down his vanilla beams
to dispel the darkness hiding our bared feet —
set side by side — romantically
touching for warmth, for love, for eternity,
hopefully, to envelop us, like the coming rain
in our lives’ thundering, combined heartbeats
…joined into those duets passion will release
all about from the great springs of yearning.

Thanks be to God——
My love you plant me like spring
Tulip lips hydrangeas hips
I drink your sunny spirit
And merge it within my own
And the birds and bees appreciate
The sweet nectar of love we create
Romance of generations as we age
Hair once golden like daisies
Mature into the puff of white dandelion
Even more beautiful in my mind
How your intoxicating floral fuchsia smell
My nose drinks up like at a well
And only quenched when you are there
I grow from our challenges like champagne rain
Toasting the ages of tribulations and triumphs
Yet remaining united
I am excited for the spring your love bring
And summer’s promise of hot kisses
The cherish of the pearled constellations reflect
in her eyes, so wondrous her eyes.
It is the hour of the romance of the spring equinox,
the saints are whispering in their night vespers.
Her muse slumbers in a gown of velveteen dreams,
yet, her moonlight-blessed creativity is such
lyrical ecstasy born from her quintessence.
Her gifts of poetry bid me to breathe them in
with their stardust enchantments.
No, she is not mortal,
she pens of not only love's light and stars,
but of humankind and it's folly.
The blithsome moon desires to stay,
as her eternal face of ageless lover's
inspiration will not leave her timeless poetess.
Poetess, oh poetess, reclines on
cumulus clouds of eventide pink and lavender,
that billows so gently from her being.
Rise, dear poetess, and pen more the
mastery of your words, your verse,
til God's gilded dawn. ~
Tis springtime's warm and gentle grace
As love and romance fill the air
Spring flowers bloom and hearts embrace!
And all-around love's sweetness flares (a sudden outburst )
The trees regain their verdant tones
Birds sing sweetly so carefree
Their melodies until now unknown
Of love, joy and so esprit
As breezes blow jonquils fragrance
Whispering secrets sweet to hear
Lovers' kiss reveals those blushes' radiance
And passion's flames appear
Sunshine is bright and clouds scattered
All around love's lighter atmosphere
As springtime's angular light flatters
The world is full of soft yesteryear
Cool
Wet blue
Misty hue
Sun warms the pool
Glistening water
Season of thanks.
