Premium Member Soap Opera -- Laughing My Bubbles Away

After a bubble bath last night
            I left the water running

        ‘O, Soapy Mio!’
            Heaven help me
              pay for the plumbing

Love is Love - and other absurd truisms

“Love is love” is like “Follow your bliss”
a way to deflect the moral agency
and subsequent consequence of our desires
with vague equivalency.
It’s like all love and bliss is somehow equal,
which is absurd.

What if my bliss comes from destroying yours?
Or I love abducting, raping, slicing and dicing
then barbecuing
the infant you love…?
Where is the moral equivalence?
This is why the Golden Rule sounds great
up until you are up against a masochist.

And the world today is apparently filled with masochists.

But it’s all good…
At least it feels good,
to think we are all the same, all equal
in what we love and cherish.

The truth is we aren’t.

We may all be made of the same dust,
but that doesn’t make us equal.

Meanwhile the world turns,
a hit soap-opera
in its nth season
spinning relentlessly
a veritable Wall of Death
which in its shocking extreme
delivers some kind of perverse pleasure.
It may not be bliss,
or even what we love,
but it’s certainly captivating.

Premium Member Humdingers and Soap Opera Singers

Here we are already in April
        it’s time for new predictions
      A word of warning first
I used to write science fiction

      My first one’s a lulu
        a real humdinger
      I predict that Hilary Clinton
will become a soap opera singer

     The second one’s more risky
it may land in the sand
But I envision Colin Kaepernick as a hirsute
majorette with a baton in his hand

     Now for my final prediction
Please hang on to your hat
AOC's running for the Oval Office
        ~ dressed as a calico cat …

'Course, none of these fantasies will ever come true
You've read my science fiction; I’ll never fool you

Soap Opera Shower

My alto voice sang while soaping up
sudden plumbing problems did disrupt
water turned ice cold
voice soprano bold
soap opera cold shower luck.

A Good Soap Opera

A Good Soap Opera

We love a good opera
Which we knew would be a soap;
Never gave up hope.

Soap Opera-A Mans Perspective

This girl, old so and so
Has an affair with what's his face
Every one in town knows about
Except for what's her name

This guy from somewhere or another
Shows up after years lost at sea
Everyone is so surprised
Except for...you know who I mean

In the middle as my stomach grumbles
I go to the store for a snack
Three days later I turn back on the tube
They're at the very same spot they were when I left

This little blind boy with his seeing eye dog
Is in a hospital bed with issues
I loudly exclaim these darn allergies
And run back to the store for more tissue's

This mystery man goes down in flames
In a fiery plane crash
Wouldn't you know, as soap operas go
Two days later the guy is back

That's about all I've gotten out of the soaps
As this week draws to an end
But come Monday midday, what can I say
They'll start all over at the same place again

Soap Opera Watcher's Dilemma

I sat down to rest one warm afternoon,
I thought I’d turn the TV on.
To my utter surprise there in front of my eyes
Was a program I thought had long gone!
It captured my thought, I followed it through,
And oh, how it quickly flew by!
It left me in dismay, for ‘twas not over today,
But tomorrow they’d tell me just why.
I got up to turn the TV set off,
But just then they told me, “Stay tuned.”
So I sat there all day, heard the programs all say
That they’d show me the conclusion soon.
Well, now I am hooked, but I do not care,
I’ll watch all these shows till I die.
For each day when they close, they say, “Well, no one knows,
But tomorrow you’ll find out just why!”

Soap Opera Heart

I used to wonder why you almost seemed perfect
But I've gained some insight to put it all in perspective
I was simply auditioning for a role in your show
The one you've rehearsed so many times before
Trying out girls to see if they fit the lead part
In the bad daytime soap opera of your little heart
But I have something to tell you, I've read the reviews
The critics agree, your script is old news

Soap Opera Emotions

I sat and watched with discernment
As feelings became so fervent
I tried and I tried
To stop, but yet I cried
Smiles were then intermittent
