Premium MemberSpring Freedom

a teeny tiny
mouse shyly skitters among
the crisp-dried leaves and deadfall
the teeny tiny
mouse believes that Spring has sprung
to free him from his burrow

when fragrant flowers
rise with soaring sleepy heads
teeny tiny mouse snuffles
as jasmine entices
teeny tiny mouse to run
free and scurry through the fields

Hoggady Boggedy

There lives a hog called foggedy boggedy
You'll see him rolling in the mud
wearing his boggedy boots quelching his fairy suds..
His pal called Horace Hoggedy snuffles for his truffles,
blowing foggiest bubbles in the  glorious boggiest tub
Hoggedy foggedy boggedy
Foggedy boggedy the hog
Takes an afternoon snooze
Under a boggy log

Carrion

The lumps of flesh and bones lie nestled
in the rotting leaves littering the forest floor.
How long it has lain there seasoned by the rain
as worms work through the tattered tissue.

She approaches the rotted flesh directly,
at a slow cautious pace.
As if it might reinvent its self,
rising up a demented force of instincts and endurance.

She gently snuffles the carrion,
as a lover would nuzzle the neck of his mate
after an evening of playful passion has sated desire.

Mellowing to a glow of contentment,
she breaths deeply of the foul stench
letting it fill her flaring nostrils.
The scent awakens an instinctual desire
born in a bygone, primitive past.

Flittering through the Jungian memories;
a myth where all the names and places are burned.
Only the shapes and figures remain visible.
All memory has been twisted, sorted and unsorted
till it is simply her shadow cast upon the forest floor.

Rapture

Fox frisks snow
with seeking whiskers,

finds a waft of her
on frozen winds.

There! There in the moonlight,
his hearts delight!
Fox sniffs, snuffles,
snares the sweetness,
follows her warmth.

In he goes, first nose
then his whole lusty heart.

Lord of the coop,
he lolls his tongue inside her,
dances. makes love
to the plumed plumpness,
to the surrendering blood. His play,
does not stop
until the goodness fills him.

Pelt slick with grace,
he stands panting among
the feathers.

Then dog-fox trots away
to praise this world,
and laydown
under a sweetheart moon.

March Stew

Mornings are littered
with gnawed husks,
charred mouse-tails.

March is burning its strew.
The limbless
braid a thawing earth
into knotty threads.

On wet lines flannel shirts
poach in a warming smaze.
while gust-hogs
still attack the hedgerows.

In coddled kitchens
muggy boiled cabbages
envelope
a pottage of sky.

Stubby snuffles
herald undertows
of new marrow.

April paddles in
with wet crumbs
and buttercups.

Premium MemberFirst Birthday

Pretty little princess
in bows and pink sundress
gifts and presents wondrous
year old today

Ribbons, sashes, ruffles
on floor crawls and shuffles
loud laughter and snuffles
childlike display

Mom and dad are so-so
lives changed a year ago
turned their whole world wacko
baby array

Parents hug each other
promise are still lovers
with a year now over
need time away

Grandparents blow kisses
friends and others wishes
party favor glitches
happy birthday

Animal Antics

One ticket admission to my home z o o!
SO many creatures, don’t know what to do-
a turtle and a bunny,
a stinky pug so funny,
a Golden Retriever who lost a s c r e w!

The bunny likes smelling the dog’s behinds,
too bad he will NEVER know what he’ll find!
a grossly dingle-berry,
something hairy and scary,
“GO find a carrot you’re way out of line!”

The pug snuffles and snorts through out the night,
then I’m yawning while I’m struggling to write-
the turtle has a long neck,
I’m always like, “WHAT THE HECK?”
then he basks while choking on a termite!

You may think my family is distressed,
and maybe we NEVER get any rest-
a million bucks I won’t take,
we have a bond that WON'T break,
we do love our z o o that’s quite picturesque!

The Owl Said

I can see the whole world
Though earth is painted black
The zephyr blows gentle at dark
I can see everything at night

My wide big eyes can wander
with a creep voice that can lather
I’m a nocturnal creature in the dark
I’d love to live night forever

Silent night screams so loud
I can listen snuffles of my prey
The sharp claws on my feet
Perfectly match on my beak

Listen to my wings as I fly
I’m the wide eye wanderer at night
No one has seen me glisten at dark
Wish I have chance to fly till morning

Influenza

IN-FLU-ENZA!
IN-FLEW-ENZA!
This was not my today's agenda,
Hankies for snuffles my addenda,
Here I rest, moribunda!
Wintry weather down under,
Suppose it is not so bad,
Bed rest to be had,
Not in the rat race,
Cosy bed today's place,
Definitely not my today's agenda,
IN-FLU-ENZA!

The Sneeze

Mrs. Snuffles' epic sneeze
Blew her ruffles to the knees
While blowing her nose, she tore her hose
Disturbing the neighbor's peace
The neighbor was so displeased
He lost his temper and shrieked,
"Please, Mrs. Snuffles pull up your ruffles
The wheezing and sneezing must cease
The obnoxious kerfuffle is simply abnormal
And you have frightened all of my geese!"

Todays Poem

Damp dark day out there
while the world in here is shining warm
as flames lick charring logs
and kettle sounds of glub glub glub arise from my kitchen
all comfort shrouded in terrycloth robe
the morning paper becons
with news about elections
news about rejections
news about confections
news about recollections....
and in this mystical world there is still peace and the enjoyment
of damp dark day mornings

Damp dark day out there
not going to work today and don't need an alibi
there is this tenderness with my canine companion who snuffles
against my shoulder
her long white fur smells air fresh
as my partner bursts into laughter that lifts our hearts up
we share the little beastie
much like parents do with their progeny-
and as she laughs
this damp dark day turns into a dry bright day
within me
so that even when it rains
rainbows can still be painted over the sunshine
of being human.
