a north snowy owl
hunts a windswept field for prey ...
cat like yellow eyes
thick heavy feathers
the snowy owl is watchful ...
low raspy hoot hoot
on a branch preening
the snowy owl flutters wings ...
solitary life
rotating his head
the snowy owl is regal ...
a quiet flyer

snowy owl
hoots at northern sky
crystal dew falling
a vole sleeps
deep in frozen ground
earthen dreams
heaven of stars
on celestial journey
night lights
wolf howls
at the snow moon
brief serenade
dreams fade
into morning sunrise
scent of fresh brew

As day turns to night she's awaken
hunter, food provider for her brood,
Stretch, flap wings, feathers shaken,
pitch black, one thing on her mind
nocturnal rodents high protein food,
with stealth she flies, silent, streamlined,
eyes clear, professional killer, all fears
especially mice, vole, one way blood feud,
when our snowy owl silently appears.
Nocturna.

Snowy Owl, your feathers so white
I have always wanted to see you
I hear other kinds, hooting in the night
A pleasure it would be to see you too
I suppose one snowy winter
You will fly so quietly here to visit me
After the summer flowers wither
You will arrive with splendid beauty

In my white feathered coat, I look divine.
I hunt at night, but also in bright day.
My bold rounded eyes as gold amber shine.
Dawn guilds my broad wing span flying away.
Soaring silent I clear steep mountain's crest,
Then swoop with precision to snatch my prey.
My talons cling tight to my beating breast,
Till I feed my owlets a father's way.
Gliding high o'er Arctic tundra I roam.
Lemmings are known as my favorite quest.
Soon I will prepare a warm cozy home
In early May when I build a large nest.
There's danger of wolves and foxes when near,
The prime predators we snowy owls fear.

In majestic beauty I stand alone
My lifetime mate included
Together on land we build our home
Preferably secluded
My five foot wingspan is solid white
Hunting is done in the light
Fish, rabbits, rodents and birds are nice
Lemmings are a daily delight
With yellow eyes and beard of black
I rule my frozen domain
Neither fox nor wolf would dare attack
Even eagles are aware of my fame
The ghost like snowy male owl am I
With razor sharp talons to die for
Arctic tundra is where I prowl up high
Where snow peaks are just the ground floor.

As though the whole world was his fortress.

On the poll snowy owl stands tall and is in full control
Her prismatic eyes are beyond beautiful something to extol
Yet they don’t do justice to her soul
She glides through the air silently soaring off the poll
As she sails through the air mimicking snow
Sometimes flying fast then effortlessly stops to go slow
She becomes one with endless horizon to that point air she will owe
Her transition is even and elastic is her flow
Her spirit reflects imagination that simplifies beyond infinity and above
She is mesmerizing beauty perfection and love
Boundless negative time in performing Sudoku of that imagination fits her like a glove
But because of boundless nature of imagination she can drive it to higher octave
But balance of judgment is there because it must
And as down on the snow and icicles frozen inferno owl her shadow will cast
As she is one with horizon and one with divine artist
She becomes one with noting less then balance of just

When the sun sets in the western sky
And night descends upon the land
The snowy owl awakes from his rest
And in the forest seeks a dinner guest
This nocturnal hunter sits and waits
With one graceful swoop from it's branch
Appears like a white ghost
Swiftly and silently gets it's prey
Any movements noticed
In one swoop catches it's meal.
