her eyes are blue
her thoughts are green
she rules with madness
the snowball queen
heightened anxiety
her feelings are keen
off with their heads
says the snowball queen
I look out my window
And can't see the ground.
As I step out to look,
I see snow all around.
There was so much snow,
For these parts, it's wild.
I haven't seen this much
Snow since I was a child.
I ran through the house
To get my children.
We dressed up warm
So we wouldn't be shiverin'.
Then we headed outside
To build our snowman,
But things didn't go
The way we had planned.
I barely saw it coming,
I hardly caught its sight.
That snowball that started
This here snowball fight!
We played in the snow
Until we were freezing cold.
The memories we made
Are worth more than gold.
gave her white snowball
under mursaki fuje
gave me pink snowball
“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome." ~ Anne Bradstreet
Winter’s quick wind slips shadows through my soul,
Risking dawn’s light, leaving a mournful glow.
Deprived winking stars, moon will still console,
Grasping night with promise of graceful flow.
Wintery breath clasps the silent snow’s fall,
Rescuing each flake with cool, frosty thanks.
Gasping at the dance, beauty not so small,
Braving the night, gentling even snowbanks.
Wintertime comes and goes, leaving light trails,
Glistening joys, falling from the night skies,
Racing to meet life with enticing tales,
Memories of sweet love that never dies.
Winter’s easy light glows into the night,
Moving souls to hear its legend so bright.

I
to
you
avow
snowball bush full bloom
heart of enchantment dusk fumes
as butterflies flit
green lawn of languor
and beauties lying in beds
in the mellow noon
white moon and scent orbs
attracting hued birds and bees
stopping hearts and feet

Two slow-witted goblins were tricksters who had no fear
They tiptoed up the staircase of a birch tree that was near.
They forgot that owls can gobble you down in a minute.
Their plotting was horribly stupid, no matter how you spin it.
Let’s throw a snowball at that one, the dumbest one said.
Let’s! Agreed the other, I think his name was Dolt Ed.
The owl was not happy when the snowball hit the back of his head.
And sure enough, within minutes both goblins were dead.
It snowed yesterday
the sidewalks are slick
Seems like an opportunity
for me to be sick
Stay home and ditch school
watch some TV
Catch up on sleep
with kitty next to me
But then in came the words
'Snowball fight!'
Out the door I flew, off to school
~ I know wrong from right!
What will I do without him
who used come to the door
and ask me to play with snowballs
In the sun?
Go out and play with
snowballs of my own?
No fun!
What will I do without him
who used to tap at the window
and bring me the dark sky
Shattered with dawn?
Close warm sheltered inside
Will I watch the night
Go on?
No! I'll run to the streets and the highways;
I'll shout to the closed-in ears;
into the wind that buries the sound of my voice
I'll whisper when footsteps come near
There's someone living
In here!
(A nod to Athol Fugard's "People Are Living There")
Silence melts into the whisper
Of frosty feelings, radiating
Hope for the snow blanketed
World, pure and clean, brilliant
Like a dream of white swathed
Prayers singing of sweet peace

Snowball
My most favorite of all
God put you in my life right before Christmas came around.
Your had a big tear in your ear and right behind grandmas water heater is where you were found.
Your dad fell in love with you at first sight.
I couldn't believe we were taking you home to our small studio that night.
Ever since then you always showed me how special you were.
From how big and fast you grew, to your big cat purr.
I wish I had you longer then 2 short years.
I always promised you you'd make it to the top with me while I faced all my fears.
Thinking of my future home, there was always a big back yard just for You.
And we almost got there as these years flew...
My baby boy, I owe it to you, thank you for all the memories,
You were more than just my cat, you created a better me.
Now I sit here without my Snowball
But you will always be in my heart, and my most favorite of all.
