One day Jill was going uphill.
She wanted to make herself chill.
Spotted a lucky Robin's quill
Jack got in her way and stood still.
She waved the quill and tried to spill
Jack liked it and hinted his will.
Tried to snatch it away from Jill
She slugged him on face with much skill.
Jack fell down making a loud shrill.
Jill got upper hand, what a thrill!

she gave him a smack
he gave her a crack
how about s sock?
his cheek now on lock
she gave him a swat
his throat muscles caught
she slugged him that day
he soon walked away

They arrived in rusted cars and ancient trucks
slugged blue collar champagne from coffee mugs
playing one eyed poker with calloused hands
laughing like jackals -cussing like burning crabs.
They solved all of the world's problems
through unfiltered thoughts and whisky logic
smoking swisher sweets while nodding heads
agreeing that a godless world is better off dead.
The next morning, the sky was hungover
they tallied tackle and fired up grandad's motor.
That night, they gazed upon Gods waning embers
beholding lost lunkers and the ghosts of old friends.
Sunday morning, they slowly packed up paradise
hand me down tackle and one-eyed smiles.
An angel in the shallows waved them goodbye
down a dirt road they drifted away like misty skies.
The following year there'd be one less caste
in a sacred place they lay an old fisherman's hat.

Sadie liked to talk tough
because she was soft, an easy target
she fell prey to people who take advantage of nice
her tough words kept people away
it is not that they feared her
it is that they thought she would be tough
not understanding how easy she was
she often bragged that she had slugged or slapped someone
Fake advertising that had the desired effect.

Spider-black crawls the night.
Blankets hang like obese bats
from sleeping arms.
Is it the bewitching hour?
No it is 4 o'clock.
Sleep slugged me at 2.30AM
nightmares came and went.
No ghosts or ghouls
just the rumblings of a disordered soul.
Snippets of an ordinary life
stretched into horror stories,
days I have spent a lifetime trying to forget
slip under my eyes to turn on
a whirring movie projector.
When I get up to pee
my urine smells like stale wine,
back in bed that head on the pillow
disowns me
as I dare once again
to close my eyes.

Quicksand
Oh, man
Hold hope
Need rope
Loud yell
Tear fell
Not heard
Absurd
Swim out
I doubt
Loud roar
I swore
Bad bunch
I’m lunch
Just then
Came friend
He grinned
Chagrined
He laughed
Held staff
Pulled out
Rude lout
He mugged
I slugged
Amends
Still friends

Defiantly showing his face,
He wouldn’t be put in his place.
“You’ve no right to ask
Me to put on a mask
And my contacts I won’t let you trace!”
He stormed past the guards at the store
Who were stationed right next to the door
While the onlookers shrugged
Thinking they might get slugged
If they gave him a needed what-for.
It’s too bad that the virus can’t land
On those doubters so we can demand
That they loudly retract
What their stubbornness lacked
While they followed the chain of command.

Rednecks and hillbillies having a war.
They fought and they spit and both were so sore.
It got bloody. There was much ugly gore.
We scratched and we bit just like the folk lore.
Cousin found gold and announced it to four.
Hatfield who ran off to find their own ore.
I scratched him and slugged him, this cousin so poor.
The rednecks ran off, as we hillbillies broke down their door.
So if you think the feud is forever over, and no more,
Remember we McCoys are as ignorant as we are poor.
We will be feud’n and fight’n, until we are sore
Or we chase that other family, for squabbles we adore.

remember the coating of brutish brandy
you slugged back without a whisper
the whites of your eyes like glaciers
and i smiled and let the warmness
sit on my tongue then slowly roll
down my beating throat, with
a rush of laughter and you so red
remember how she belted out
her performance, joining hands
with the dessert of joyful voices
the ship became her opera house
she presented her gift to us
as her husband horrified
by lack of payment to his pocket
remember, dear, the rocking
as we’re swept by the dashing cold
topside, my swimwear wrap whipping
barely kept by my grip. my hands
busy but my insides joyous
as we capture every morsel bit
on high seas adventure
later your lips, heartily pressed
in my memory book, freely
sliding over mine as if you’ve
never worked a day in your life

I'll tell you the reason why my neighbor's head has a big dent.
I mowed his yard and cleaned his gutters and he paid me 25 cents.
When he handed me that quarter, I began to yell.
Before I slugged the jerk, I told him to go to hell.
He threw a punch at me but I ducked.
This man is a cheapskate, he really sucks.
I tied one end of a rope to my car's rear bumper and the other end to his leg.
As I drove my car about seventy miles, he asked me to stop and he begged.
After dragging him with my vehicle, his butt had a big rash.
That's what he got because he's too cheap to pay any cash.
When I told him that he'd get even worse, he stopped threatening to sue.
If you decide to hire me and pay me 25 cents, I'll do the same things to you.

The silver sparkles in her smile
The vermilion arch of her lips
Her warm velvet chuckle
The tufts of hair brooking down her spine
The millions gold of her breast
Ardent lust gleamed in her blush
My heart tramped louder than hoofs
I drooled before the shrine of her glamour
The dust of passion rose fervent
Lucent, glistened our intents
Hooters leaned against the other's
And the gale of our breaths paced to the same trill
The shackles of her grip were
An impalpable touch to my soul
We played tint in the pink of daffodils
Under the pine fern
In the ochre of the sne'ky sunbeams
The boughs stripped shade before
The topaz sitting in her dimples
Minstrel rose with every kiss
The sways of ****** tinged us
In the lichen, symbiotic to the fern
Her buccal is a brink of honey
Every kiss occupied every hole
Every space in my parched heart
Her kisses are rockets to isles beyond the universe
A shole of butterflies wreathed garlands in whorls
The raceme of matrimonial blossomed out
The bride stood on the dais of my heart
----- Yes I do -----
Sighed our slugged blinks

Okay I saw your spitting image today!
Tried to give her a real big hug
She was your utter and absolute clone my love
Came so close to getting slugged
Thought there was really only one of you
With your bubbly personality
Will check a lot more closely next time
Could have ended up horizontally
Never thought two could look so alike
To run into her it was surely fate
One of those spooky occurrences in life
But her boyfriend set me straight
Uncanny is a very good word to describe it
Weird is another word that fits
She even had a luscious body like yours
And your gorgeous 34B... uh... eyes!

A fireball flashed and seared the sky
When silhouetted man on boat
With oars sliced the quiet sea
Seagulls swirled around the gilded space
Tracked the swimming silvered flesh
Waves slugged on sands broke into a splash
For some moment I wish you’re here
Together we’ll fall into a trance
Watching Seagulls swirling round and round
That now looks like a dancing shadow
Floating against the vast expanse
The water had already sunk the sun
The sky is now a purple fabric
Yet I am still here lying in the sand, drunk

The world is spinning
and you refuse to fall off.
Yesterday,
you stabbed a crooked finger
into my hidden diary
criticized my Fascist inflections -
debated my scribblings
on Marxism,
noted the notations
indicating Munchausen by Proxy
and then
choked and lamented
upon vague references I made
concerning Virginia Woolf,
Sylvia Plath,
Anne Sexton,
Cruella De Vil
and Hitler.
You literally littered through
my private Pandora’s box
of personal prose and poetry -
with an unbridled
crazed compulsion
and without my
permissible permission.
Pointing to bold typed words,
such as “ebony”
and “vacuous”
and “sociopath”
and the one
you couldn’t evenly pronounce –
“phlegmatic.”
You stomped your hot heavy hooves -
screaming with the dire urgency
of a rape victim:
“What the hell are you talking about?”
It didn’t take very long before
I simply shrugged,
slugged the remaining remains
of my Rolling Rock,
took your index finger
guided it across
your ratted sweater
and placed it
upon your
hopeless,
hapless
heart.

My stomach recoils as we
lumber up, sending
raison bran and apple juice
up my throat for an encore.
As the brakes whine, so
does my memory, tossing
advice from the base of
experience to flee, to
fake illness or just climb
to the top of the bus and
swan dive into a ravine,
breaking more bones than
Evel Knievel after he
jumped the fountain at
Caesar’s Palace while
wearing patriotic colors.
I get slugged in the
shoulder, sending the
book in my hand
soaring five seats ahead.
With a sigh, I reach
to understand why
so much glory gets
offered to bullies.
