My Teddy
a cuddly bear
I used to sleep with at night
sold at a yard sale -
wonder who loves him now
if anyone

Yard Sale
Yard Sale
In the garden of a neighbor,
In the garden of a stranger,
Filled to the brim with treasures,
Different treats,
Different pleasures,
Hours of delight,
Relaxed browsing,
No need,
To do anything,
Don’t need to think....

Yard Sale
Yes there's hope to make some cash
And get rid of stashs of trash
Running before the sun shines
Drive around putting up signs

Somebodys kid just broke a toy
Always taking less such a joy
Labels and change on the run
Enough sun and sweat I'm done!...

Clock
Yard sale treasure,
I am so sharp!
What a deal I made!
A clock for fifty cents!
On my wisdom and skills
I hope I do not too much harp,
Why this clock even had no dents!

How I made this deal,
Really more of a steal...
I will never understand...
Maybe cause it had,
Only the minute hand....

Polite Conversation
Pardon me,
Could I slip past?
There's something I'd like to see.
Sorry I don't move too fast.

Yes, that is a lovely blue.
It really brings out my eyes.
It cost twice that when it was new.
May I see if the plane still flies?

Would you take less for this pin?
The furniture is quite a steal.
I hate to ask to pass again,
Yard sale bargains, what a deal....

Selling Memories
Selling memories, possessions at the yard sale
Just junk the buyer says, I will take it off your hand
Hard times have hit, yes we need a break
Kindness, charity impress apon the inner voice
Let it go, someone else needs it more.

She goes inside to empty cupboards and cries.
No supper tonight, no breakfast tomorrow...

Vultures circle to take advantage, will the house be gone?...

Sail Away
Come sail with me,
yard sale, yippieee.
Love um, love um,
all of um.
Can't get enough,
yard sale stuff.
Goodies galore,
that's for sure.
CeeCee loves um,
just like me.
I guess we are two,
yard sale hippies.
Before the sun,
we are ready to run.
We come home with a load,
things we gathered out on the road.
Sometimes we sell,
but mostly we buy,
we can't stop,
we already tried.
See you there....

Our Yard Sale
Salvaged trinkets from less mindful times,
doodads and trifles - mainly yours.
Electrical dinosaurs,
wrapped in wires and plugs – mine.

Not much furniture: particle board,
cheap impulsive clutter.

Browsers turn over knickknacks,
hope for an overlooked value;
we have none.

We have this jetsam, and this, and this
and that.

Treasures in-between bric-a-brac
and thingamajigs -
almost priceless, almost worthless....

Yard Sale
As I was looking through boxes,
I came upon my old ragged fox.
Remembering the memories and how they last.
But those times have past.

Standing there holding tight.
This is going to be a fight.
Letting go of his hand,
is hard for any man.

His mother said,"it is time,
that you mark it for a dime."
With a black pen, he began to scribe,
as a tear came to his eye.

Placing him in a cart,
until the yard sale starts.

Yard sale contest...

Yard Sale Search
Yard sale searching

While looking through the rubbish pile,
Something found did cause a smile.
My fathers broad old razor strap,
Can see him strop his Bengal at.

When I raised his temper, feel,
leather strap, buttocks to heel.
Respect for father’s, worked back then,
On Discipline you could depend.

But all at an end, minority’s descend,
So chaos rules the young,
No penalty now my friend,
Rules have a weak bung lung.

Yard Sale Saturday
The tables are set,
the tent is up,
yard sale Saturday,
getting rid of some stuff.
Lamps without shades,
an old garden hose,
and tons of socks,
and out of date clothes.
Rusty old rakes,
some clippers, and gloves,
and out in the field,
that old yellow bus.
Some goodies for sure,
come early, and browse,
if you have the money,
you can even buy my house.
I hope it dosn't rain,
until everything is gone,
there is no way on this earth,
I could get this stuff inside my home....
