Zoonami
Of all the creatures in the zoo
My favourite ones would be Gnu
The ones I like the very least
Are probably the Wildebeest...

Hunter
The Lion likes to stop and feast
Especially on Wildebeest
But if there’s not one to pursue
He’ll simply go and chase Gnu

Grabbed hold of Wildebeest’s tail
Punctured it on a rusty nail
Big loud tetanus shot
Apologized through the mail
Afraid of beast by his wail
He was pretty hot...

Tjy
Territorial, she stalks the wildebeest

Juxtaposition, she tarries, crouching low

Young cubs nearby with rumbling tums

A giraffe, an Okapi and a blue wildebeest
Walked into a bar hoping to have an horde ‘ore feast
A bongo, an Asian water buffalo came in too.
I’ve decided to sneak out. How about you?...

Premium Member The Wildebeest
He was dark and handsome, a mystery to most
The black forest thought of him as a gentle ghost
Resembling a wolf, his howls went on for hours
He had conflicting ways, and unique wizardly powers

We held back in the shadows, fearing the beast
He was dressed in fine clothes, silk in the least
He drew back his head and his teeth gave a growl
Eliminating the forest of every terrified fowl...

Premium Member Pirate Woman Outfoxes Wildebeest
Woman Pirate hit a tiny snag
Wildebeest boyfriend was a drag.
He made her walk the plank.
Ship was caught in a current’s crag.
So she picked up a dirty rag.
Gave him a little spank.

Wildebeest snapped at her full force.
roaring with his great mouth of course.
she was smart and stepped aside.
I frankly cannot tell my source
But she came out on top of course.
Beast long gone, in ocean wide....

the ground shakes
      dust swirls in the air
         cattle stampede

          pandemonium
      animals on the run
             forest fire

             downriver
       the water tumbles
          no going back

     wildebeest confusion
crossing the raging torrents
      green pasture allure

Wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle,
Such a wonderful sight to see.
         Lions, hippos, and elephants;
Like tiny toys appeared to me.

Above the desert, 'neath blue sky,
      My memory recalls the flights,
Aloft in those hot air balloons,
             Thrilled by the Serengeti sights.

Premium Member What a Mess
Greedy goats were invited to the Wednesday feast;
They foraged their dinners ahead of the sly wildebeest.
Quenching their thirst with quail juice alamode.
A gallimaufry of raindrops stirred within a commode.

I asked who invited these creatures, and of course it was Tom.
He did not realize they were all related to my husband’s mom.
I thought they were gone, I said as they came through the door.
My ex and his mother, what a mess, huh, Lenore?...

The lion speaks to
The sunbaked wry winds
Toast the savana
Wildebeest trample
Urging with bellows
Mousebirds, Drongos
Sweltering wings
Nervously sit
In Baobabs
Snickering

Jesting to
Laughter’s

A path is worn
going no where
the perimeter
of a domain
enclosed by a fence.
The pride will not follow,
the wildebeest
too few to encircle
their young
shiver in a biting cold.
A Bengal tiger paces
before a closed door
awaiting
a cold lifeless prey
as broken winged raptors
long for the sky.
A cheetah
races the shadow
of its past.
The silver backed gorilla
thumps an empty chest.
The children leave
in yellow buses
believing the lie.
