Ever since my parrot Greeny lost his beautiful companion,
he hardly warbled and sit in his cage to mourn;
his sad song indicated how lonely he was...
what or who could cheer him up for his loss?...

I Am a Worm In Spring
I'm the worm Persephone’s minions found;

Blackbirds drinking from Apollo’s brewery

Warbled their songs into my gloomy bedroom,

          For the Feast of Spring.

In the fragrant noonday heat,
Sunshine poured on meadowsweet,
And rivers and lakes sparkled,
All while rose finches warbled,
From azure sky and green trees,
And sunshine burnished cities,
In the fragrant noonday heat.

Dancing To the Song of a Loon
Dappled light shimmered from a golden moon, and peered into a grove of bent willow trees. Arched branches swayed in a gentle breeze, as if shadow dancing to the song of a loon as she warbled the lyrics of her mating tune. July 15, 2022 Bite Size Poem No 49 Contest Sponsored by Line Gauthier

A Little Yellow Bird
The rumble of thunder and falling rain
Roll across the dale and plain
As springtime sounds return the green
The pride of nature proudly preen
Atop the noble fir tree’s crest
The virile warbler guards a nest
Swaying gently on a limb
A mate rests beside of him
O’er the forest a song is heard
Warbled by a little yellow bird...

Mister Skinny Legs
He stood on the washing line
Did mister skinny legs,
Expert he, at balancing
There amongst the pegs.

A gentle breeze was blowing
It set the line a-swinging,
He obviously enjoyed it
Skinny legs, he started singing.

He warbled such a sweet refrain
As he swung to and fro,
Skinny legs, he sang and sang
How I enjoyed it so....

Pleased I Am Here
The warmth of this evenings lighting, casting soft shadows through the trees. A breeze blows gently caressing my skin like the softness of a ladies kiss. Sweet notes warbled by Robins across the distance, only they understand through gleeful notes to each other. This evening holds me near the joyful life I share, closing my eyes, breathing deep, pleased I am here....

Vivacious veins of hope

       Virus still spreading fear

                       Veering variably

                                               Voices warbled ill-use

                       Vaccination striving

         Vicarious breathing

Vanquished foe valiantly

Broken
Come, let’s write our chronicles
on the leaves of our minds
you in black, I in white ink.
Tales of how our hearts got
B R O K E N.

Come, let me hear the lyrics
of the dirge you warbled for love
-while the dwindling flare of hope died and
your life began through the ashes of sham-

Come, let me tell you of my yarn
how I swayed to the rhythm of deceit
and walked the aisle of betrayal like
a new bridal fool relishing the warmth of a lie.

Premium Member I Heard a Bird Singing
I heard a bird singing
As I was on my way
It led direction for me
As it took my breath away

It warbled cheerfully,
From a tree above the snow
It spread its song gleefully,
What kind of bird, I wanted to know

I heard a bird singing
Its melody surrounded me
I turned in circles bringing,
Each note closer, to be free

It sounded like spring, in winter
A happy, fresh new start
Helping to release the splinter
And heal the pain within my heart
