Mister Skinny Legs

He stood on the washing line
Did mister skinny legs,
Expert he, at balancing
There amongst the pegs.

A gentle breeze was blowing
It set the line a-swinging,
He obviously enjoyed it
Skinny legs, he started singing.

He warbled such a sweet refrain
As he swung to and fro,
Skinny legs, he sang and sang
How I enjoyed it so.

I love the way you've left the specific bird identification to our imagination. A sweet poem!
