My memories scream back
echoing down through
small solemn streams of desire
leaving whispers of love and
tears.

Innocence a foreigner
if beautiful or dark
No one who can lead the way
— has purity of heart
(Dreamsleep: November, 2024)
I have grown old and slow and soft,
and my herd has all run oft,
but I still have my trusty friend the snail...
on the Colorado Trail.
We could never walk on wisdom's trail unless first our ignorance declare!

What already done
image a trail of footprints
that can't be undone
mountains morph pink
cacti formations cool
as Summer sun sets…

A BRIAN STRAND TANKA
As I explore,
Life is my compass.
Soon the wake of words will calm
And what I write
Will be the map I've left behind.
A journey someone else will find.
Valentine's day comes
Each year without fail
Much love brings with it
Let's follow Cupid's trail!

Seems the words have stopped flowing of late,
but the hill road is turning out great.
We got to the bottom
with time to see autumn,
and the views of the trees are first rate!
Leaf vein if you could speak
Would you share what your trail means?
Would you explain yourself in scientific terms?
Or would you just smile
Keeping your veins
Mysteriously silent?
My eyes close to dream
the unknown abyss surrounds
to where I don't know
on opening, I'm alive
I see trails of diamonds

Quiet, but for the steady
murmur of waves along
an obsidian beach.
Remnants of an ocean storm,
somewhere between
here and Japan.
Sometime between
Passé Imparfait et
Plus-que-parfait.
Behold the grace of a river’s trail
Trail of a pilgrimage, unknown
Unknown to moontide swept by sand,
Sand whirling unto endless curves.

Their Trail of Tears
Were here in America before us for years;
All the Indians with their hopes and fears;
Were worried;
Had hurried;
While they went down the Trails of Tears.

Andy the explorer seeks unmark trail
He takes QQ on a long march never fail
Roadrunner rather run than fly
Catch a bird let’s make a pigeon pie
Both can’t wait to hurry home for a champagne cocktail
A journey they seek
Now forcibly evicted ~~
Generations past ¬
Everlasting memories
Follow the Cherokee Trail ~~

barn swallows return
from seasons I've never known
to bring me new wings -
my eyes scan the old dirt road
searching for a summer lost

The Leprechaun from Ireland
Dressed from head to toe in green;
The children dream of his gold
Hiding beyond the rainbow;
They play outside searching hard;
He left a trail of green beans,
does it lead to his riches?
In-pine-sweet air
In humus soil
Is where I rest, away from care,
And trail weary toil.
One morning feathers filled the air,
With wooden shafts that sped
And left this traveler to lie
With poisoned arrowhead.
In-pine-sweet air
In humus soil
Is where I rest, away from care,
And trail weary toil.
One morning feathers filled the air,
With wooden shafts that sped
And left this traveler to lie
With poisoned arrowhead.
In-pine-sweet air
In humus soil
Is where I rest, away from care,
And trail weary toil.
One morning feathers filled the air,
With wooden shafts that sped
And left this traveler to lie
With poisoned arrowhead.
draped close for the night
film scenes of you have no end -
mourning sobbing starts

3/20/2019 Poem of the day
This trail ends for timid souls,
we who fear where no one goes,
and ponder what might lay beyond
and what a sign like this portends,
yet, those before blazed through to here
or we'd not be...where this trail ends...
long after midnight
he points out the big dipper...
grass for our pillows
