Acoustical Cat
Cautiously, creepily, carefully, camouflaged, calmly chewing
A rodent? Bunny? Mole? Rabbit? Something obviously dead.
Tenaciously chewing, happily chewing, swallowing their sweetness....

Ah, I really know
this poem
from the heart, the
very same way I know my dear wife
in the dawning chill.
Rhyme reaps aged mind,
alliteration immerses
into the emotional sea,
sun rays darting
my skin, tenaciously free of boozes....

The Fray
Sickness incredulously slipped the noose
wormed its way past healthy constitutions
and lodged spear like into Adams’ rib
Tenaciously Life held back
marshalling the frontline
lymphocytes funneled nutrients
from Mother’s soup
into the societal fray....

What Is Seen Through a Winter Screen
There's a leaf as small as a tear-
drop, fluttering on the tender limb
on which it was born. It clings,
tenaciously, as if it knows to fall
means becoming brown and crisp
and forlorn, like we who hold tight
to our lives, await the butterfly
when spring arrives....

Tenacious Daffodils
A delicate daffodil tenaciously pushes her way through the snow.
Her cousin Gladys is next to her, doing the same thing but faster.
I love spring she says, it is our time to beautify and petal show.
Gladys replied yes, we are both a tribute to our glorious Master....

June Moon Affair
young love, June moonlight
shimmers across still water
to be grasped and held
tightly, so tenaciously,
dawn arrives much too early

History of a Home
If I knew then that home was so
Ferociously fleeting,
I would have spent less time
Worrying about which way this world
Wished I would go,
And traipse tenaciously towards
The town with the house
Which gave me a tiny terrace
And a place to pour my passions
Into passages on pieces of paper
That I could call my own....

Ginko
ginko's spring green leaves
being whipped by brutal wind..
tenaciously cling
ginko's medicine
very pure all natural..
sip bitter tea
ginko's extract fine
for memory decline...
side effects mean
sexual problems
ginko leaves help relieve..
lifted up once more

Poem As Surrogate
Poem as Surrogate
by Odin Roark
Streaming messenger
With expression unchecked
Imagined ink yet to dry
The page fearful of touch
Find the eyes
Beneath which awaits the meaning
For
This frame that lives also as picture
One's fleeting first-person impulse
A captured inner focus shared
Clings tenaciously
To the world's lenity
Every poet's temporary forever...

Broken Limb
On a large elm tree,
there hung a young broken branch
swaying in the wind
Tenaciously it clung,
as it perilously swung
Hanging on for dear life
by a sliver of vine
And I beheld in nature
something so divine
A broken limb
struggling to mend
Refusing to die ... to give in
Then I understood: I too must try,
fight desperately to live
For a broken heart too can heal...

Why the Sword Kills
WHY THE SWORD KILLS
When I give my mother a slap
She remembers the nine months
And years she nurtured me tenaciously.
When I bomb the temple of my religion
She regrets all the spiritual feedings-
And the ideals she showered on me. When I betray a trustworthy friend
The confidential confiding and love, will be remembered
If I betray my nation
The national pledge
I am forever indebted....

Cancer Ward
Hideous cancer chisels away
With strange tragic sculpturing
And exposes dark flaws
heavy and black:
Inoperable, they say.
Ever present cigarette
Tenaciously supported
By shaking hand
and unfaltering need
Moved toward fried death
As wrenching cough spewed
Fire in weakened lungs.
A machine by the bed
Connected to tubes,
She wavers between
Sleep and reality
Fighting to hear
The voices around her....

Clung Tenaciously
God’s mountains with its mighty peaks,
could be seen well in the distance,
separated by rivers and creeks,
and one featured plumes of angry smoke,
shooting in upward streaks,
everything in its path will choke,
it rose seemingly to the top of the sky,
imaginations fly,
dust leaving organic signatures,
as God’s blue print covers and surrounds,
and clumps of debris,
clung tenaciously to the ground,
for all Mankind to see....

Falling Leaves
Still clinging quite tenaciously,
a withered leaf on family tree.
The storms are gathering around.
In day or two, that leaf is bound
to lose its last courageous grip
and to its waiting brothers slip.
So sure now is the leaf to fall
we're waiting for the dreaded call.
We cannot count on one more day
until our brother slips away.
One generation almost gone.
Sister and I are on our own.
Won a first in Leaves contest...

Everyday Forecast
Broken buried bond
Regretful recurring rain
Pouring putridly passionless
Provocative priceless pain
Falling furiously fast
Ominous oath to obey
Torrential teary torment
Conventional course conveyed
Submersed soul stammering
Darkness deadening distantly
Drowning deep disarray
Methodically mocking me
Laughter lingers lucidly
Submerged suffering sight
Treading thoughts tenaciously
For a fruitless fearful fight

The Perfidy of Memoirs
gripping the shards of memories
ignoring the bloodied emotions
why do we torture ourselves
with that which we cannot change
these evocations
vivid
disturbing
invisible to others
but our élan spotlit
driven
instituting mostly patronising
eleemosynary projects
perfect recall
subject to
experiences dictated by
accident of birth
the authenticity of memoirs
tenaciously defended
but ravaged by
subliminal influences
a testimony to its perfidy...

Leaves
A leaf fell from the Maple tree;
Another from the Birch--
A dozen more unhooked themselves
From off their lofty perch.
Some fell to heaps upon the ground;
Others scattered on the breeze--
A few still clung tenaciously
To the nearly barren trees.
And I took the winter as a thief
Since it pillaged every tree--
Recalling just how green and full
The branches used to be.
But then I felt a drop, or two
Reminding me again--
That winter is no place for leaves,
But rather snow, and rain!
