Haiku 10
Love is sometimes sweet;
And at the same time, bitter:
Taste a tamarind....

Pork Sinigang
Stainless steel pot is bubbling
On top of the fire
Inside my tasty sour soup
Of onions, pork, yam
Tamarind and spice
A Pinoy
Treat!...

Onomatopoeia
The time of the clock,
The ships are in the dock,
The whistle of the wind,
Through the haughty tamarind,
Now I can’t think ‘cause it’s summer, don’t mock.

Solitude
solitude…
here
all alone
among the crowd
of my thoughts
my mind
weaves through
the web of time
shaping realities from
the bitter sweet cup
of tamarind seasoned
reflections…...

Wind
Wind
While eating pizza way back home,
Inadvertently I gulp all tamarind,
Nevertheless let bygones be bygone,
Does the killer taste not show up in the wind ?

Your Coffee Locks
Your coffee locks as soft as silk,
incensed with rich vanilla milk,
exotic as southern isles
extend for nautical miles
against tamarind skin flowing,
like radiant sunbeams glowing
upon my dreamy fixation,
beaconing my exploration.

Beauty In Uncertainty
the murky depths of the night drifts off the lone fisherman
to the tamarind yellow river shaded with ecru of ambiguity;
wind whispers wrapped in sweet somberness and shivery softness;
yonder a hint of golden honey light beckons a beautiful uncertainty....

Realm of Taste
Tamarind,
honey,
bitterguard,
plain water,
and then plentiful salt,
I tingled on my tongue,
several times,
one after another,
felt the difference,
and savored it long,
the boundaries set by these,
were natural,
and all the rest,
fell in between,
in the realm of taste....

Preface To a Jamaican Farewell
PREFACE TO A JAMAICA FAREWELL
When I’m gone
remember me in tamarind season
reflecting the bitter
sweet of life we shared
Raise eyes
to the ambers
and blues of Caribbean skies
Listen to the thunder
and hear my soul
soaring
In the searching winds of time
look for me in the ebb and flow
of the tides:
Frothing the shores
with salted memories....

Prose Poetry
Never Quit
Never Quit
If you broken like tamarind stick
ONCE
Try not quitting your pleasurable life
PLEASE
Think about it positively many times.
Dear why you thinking to quit
JUST
Down to shame, regrets and discomfort
HAVE
Hope and try your level best to get a reward.
If not believe these smiling words
THEN
Open your ears and get this lesson
INSIDE
Many quit when they were close to success....

Mulligatawny - Poetry Soup
Mulligatawny, soup for you,
Uniquely, peppered, seasoned through,
Lots of ingredients, we might use,
Lentils, a mustard seed or two,
Interesting flavours, we might choose,
Garlic, chillies, tamarind too,
Adapting, finding, something new,
Trial and error, tastes good, it's true,
Always learning, that's what we do,
Warming, nourishing, filling too,
North, South, East, West, the whole world through,
Your soulful bowl, of poet's stew.

2 Rose-Apple Avenue
Along Lemon Lane
Down Clementine Close
Round banana bend
Past Persimmon Place
Just down Rhubarb Road
At 2 Rose-Apple Avenue
You will find old Jackfruit
On his blueberry bike
With its watermelon wheels,
Tamarind tires,
And strawberry saddle.
It's plum tricky to ride.
But he doesn't give a fig!

Rainy Day Poem
In a cozy corner of my attic I sit
changing syllables for you, to lyrics
Perched on my window pane, tiger tabby
commenced cleaning its paws already
Soon, my zinc roof brings instrumental sounds
with rain that soothes my very soul
I pause; look out at dancing tamarind
leaves, drenched, yet holding in the wind
And I think to myself, how nostalgic
each moment; making me feel romantic.
