one more sunless day. . . .
snow-white furry creatures are
on top of the world!

TOP OF THE WORLD ~ HAIKU~ Poetry Contest
Sunless day deepening black
Charcoal grey, no light shining
Clouds rampant, darker, so cold
Rolls in sleepless night
Russell Sivey
engrossed in my book -
the tunes of playful robins
whir of wash-machine
the sunless dawn, spokes
atop oaks, pines and myrtles

I would give up on vain dreams...the ones that won't let me see how
life is lived without the tears and the fears of being unloved:
if one of them drew a beautiful rainbow in my sunless sky!
dawn explosion of color ~
angel’s and flower’s
spectacular yellows, pinks,
cerulean blue ~
still charcoal gray sky
if i look outside, my eyes
depressed by a sunless sketch.

The worm to the bee:
The flowers you reap
are born of the soil
which is ventilated by me
with my sunless burrows.
And every bud opening
is a flight of mine
into the very heart
of the infinite Sky.
Sitting here over coffee
warn thoughts like smoke
filter slowly cross my mind.
Thinking of you dear
wish you were here.
Savin' sunshine darlin'
for some sunless day,
neatly filed darlin'
under "S" for stay.
pink petal’d-petrichor scent
brumous blossoms fold
dark rain falls from sunless skies
still, her garden’s gold
doused roses airing
as bright beam disperses clouds
poised beauty flaring
I go up
And you go down
It's something about
When you come around
That little...
Time I spend with you
Moon...
The prettiest
You woo
You'd weep
When times I set
I slept..
Only to see you
Weeping...
Again
Form:
A sunless world
will unfold, then
deep cold will come.
An Ice Age might
hide sunlight from
Man's sight to fret.
Where will we go?
On snow and ice
we'll crawl and die.
Is this fiction,
or the frown that
each one will wear?
Shattered sunless sky…desolation deluge
Darkness wraps darkness…stalls opaque time
Find nascent horizon raising a new sky
Deep within…crystalline essence shines
Light layers light…blooms seraphic dawn.

now sunless days on automatic pilot
skies from greys to blues to violet
feigning composure while on edge
he dances nonchalantly on a ledge

Fitful gusts
Occasional thunderstorms
Sunless cannonades
Refreshing breezes
Little gusts
Interesting seedpods
Violent lusts
Emotional whirlwinds, mistrust
Strong misgivings

through sunless hours
it sneaks in the open window like a thief,
it's cool tendrils caresses
the tangle limbs upon the bed.
throughout the shadowed dim lit room
a lullaby it sings,
fragrant with the scent of love.

Oh, those cloudy, sunless days;
time to visit inner views.
No distractions in my mind
luring me outdoors to play,
hiding what lies deep inside.
Clouds grant clarity to thoughts-
to write deeper poems then.
Gone are the days of the past filled with sunless sorrow
To have the choice to rejoice in a bright tomorrow
Skipping down the walk on a sunless, foggy day;
a bright red coat surrounded in shades if gray.
In a smoldering mass grave, on a sad and shameful day;
a swatch if bright red coat, surrounded in ashes if gray.
Inspired by Schindler's List
As I see human flowers dying from lack of love all across this world
I wish more people would give more thought
to something Oscar Wilde said:
Keep love in your heart.
A life without it
is like a sunless garden
when the flowers are all dead.
Living in the sunless cold hutch of till death do us apart, sits a chipping soul.
Never had he thought she did be a blotch of many shades.
Spitting and pouring scorn on his dreams of a happy home.
“What? Are you even a man? Your mates are out there...”
The night is sunless,
And the road is rough.
A mission, set out
To wander alone…
With just drops of dew
To quench my thirst.
The forest is thick
With brambles and thorns,
But the midnight’s bride, the Moon,
With her veil of light…
PENETRATES THROUGH.
bleakness of Autumn
on a cloudy-sunless day
muted colors droop
spirit’s s i l e n t interlude...
…blush of solo-leaf descant

descant - a melody or counterpoint sung above the plainsong of the tenor
(from Merriam-Webster)
At dusk one remembers
the bleak solitude
of sunless clouds and dark sea;
in mid-altitude
winds lash them and wheeze...
as trees are being drenched with
the cold tears of clouds.

In sunless dark dusk
winter blizzard blows across
the road I walk chilled back home.
Cupful hot coffee
my wife gives me at fireplace,
we’re on cloud nine together.

over
the dark
and windy world,
starlight
dances
a
cosmic whirl
around
the black
and
sunless sea,
eternal planets
falling
free.
spin
the sun and
moon around,
catch
a comet
shooting down.
in all
this universal
grace,
I still just wait,
to touch
your
face.
CLARITY
Under trees in a morning garden
Sky like polished crystal
Hidden sun piercing the air:
Clarity - sinless.
Inside a glass block I feel -
No wind, only carpet
Of mildewed curled old leaves,
Unmoved - like Eden’s dawn :
Dewy grass - newy morn,
Wetness , sunless.
