To Say It Succinctly

Since brevity’s the soul of wit,
I briefly might contend
That mine sure has that brief part down:
I’m always at its end.

Our Words

Our words
Need to be spoken succinctly
For a deeper understanding

She said that coats rabbit.
So, you know it's not Mink.
No, this time I've had It.
You're going in the drink.
He was tied to an anchor.
With her kiss and a wink.
She pushed him into the river.
Said succinctly, Mink or Sink...

Hold up your inky stinky pinkie
Have a rinky dinky Twinkie
With your glass of clinking drinky
Speak distinctly and succinctly
Be sure to get it right.

Minke baleens swim or sinky
Shrinking little bobolinky
Tinky's kinky blinky winky
Hug your finky slinky binky
Then take me home tonight.

Labyrinth

[Re-posted due to system error that erased it.]

I chanced upon a swirl of smooth and polished stones. And treading in its sinuous path— pretense and guile abandoned— I met a peaceful stranger, my very self, unsullied, deep within the labyrinth— the labyrinth of my mind.

Succinct

It’s hard to write succinctly.
It’s murder to condense;
So lengthy poems quite often seem
To be the consequence.

It really takes a special skill
To trim or cut in half
The thoughts you must compose
With just the wheat but not the chaff.

Consolidation is the key
But when I’m taking stock,
I’m well aware that discard key
Will not fit in my lock!

Solitude She Seeks

Seriously searching seldom she sees
Solitude she savours so succinctly
Spaces she searches satisfying soul
Sufficiently sating silencing storm
Slowly surfacing so specially still
Sighting ships serenely sailing seas
Sonorous sounds silenced successfully

The Calming of Sutra

"The Calming of Sutra"
Morning always comes after night Moses like a wolf parts her red sea there Night rises she’s as warm as the sun He’s a strict machine (LadyLabyrinth / 2020)
“A sutra is a condensed rule which succinctly states the message”

SHROUDED LIGHT

Callously torn in fragile shreds,
I sheepishly snuggle in cozy threads.

Succinctly laced, the cactus leans -
Hope nestled amidst it's thorned scenes.

To bittersweet melodies, in trance,
A medley plays, with puppets dance.

Every errand, a gallop in the meadows wide,
Yet petals of mahogany dews reside.

Am I still alive, or lost in posthumous hues?
A sombre ballet, unfolding in view.

Arrogance

Flaunting a brand
Succinctly,
holding the horizon between his teeth
he was not taking a bite.

Nobody can open the vault
under the gaze
of black cobras
extending the crumple zone.

Sweet revenge,
he was stepping out of the bright skin
in deep shadows.
A grey sky was going to melt.

Pouring out the innocence
which was not so subtle between the words.
Something falls out from your lips
beyond a reasonable sound.

Burnt

Scorched, alone, I stand ensconced, waiting for a sign,
watching moonlight’s flight at night, looking for what’s mine,
I’ll scour stars for paths to take, and slake my thirst for fun,
resentment stains my brain with pain, yet I am left with one,
more score to settle, burning blazes barricade my heart,
and sappiness’ cool caresses won’t succinctly start,
to put out fires from my misplaced ire at its source,
I’m stuck with burning bridges, at their ridge is my remorse.

The Land of Lawsuit and Money

The clamorous, glamorous, amorous...
sing succinctly about their worth,
to the ragged bagged haggard masses,
who push forth their carts...of forgotten arts, through the marts.
Complaining of the waning interest in their air
to the mayor who sits upon his throne,
calling home to fill its moat, with his boat,
paid for, by the maid for,
failing to clean the railing leading to bedroom,
the bride and groom tried to room
to sanctify the event to which they went.

Their heads superglued, smiles extend,
the spread of their deer quilt upon his lap.
They read, as if one, “Mon—ey can’t buy
hap-pi-ness but it can buy hunting gear…
which is pretty much the same thing.”
Last line succinctly added to their chime.

The deer stand, his pride, sometimes
given up to his wife, as he nervously
waits in the pickup truck. Recently
women show their trophies on media
with bowed knee and the stance of
a hunting rifle. Husband pounds chest.
