Hammock Tanaga From Panama

Her leg swings beside hammock
fingers twine above her hair
but her book flies at my jump
when coati sniffs within brush.

Great White Shark

Has three thousand jagged teeth to kill prey
Smells blood in the water three thousand miles away
Great white’s keen smell
Sniffs human as well
This salty sweet fragrance can brighten his day

Shelby

This hound
She bounds around
Sniffs her snout all about
Roll through green springs and long dead things
Too far out to hear a whistle or shout
Tongue lolling to the side drooling
New smell! Follow new route
Nose to the ground
This hound

Bloodhound Nose

Death sniffs around
until it finds the heel
works its way up to the throat.
Leaves a wet spot-on happiness and hope.
Two big black snotty holes,
(one from which you came}.
The other where everyone eventually goes.
Death, like a bloodhound nose.

Life in Spring

a lovely dragonfly hovers over a fragrant lotus, that grows in the floodplains. The dragonfly sniffs the spice that emanates from the lotus, darts here and there in search of nectar. A frog attacks, the dragonfly escapes.

The World of Shadow

My shadow creeps after me-
It stays and stays
On sunny days.
It does things with
Other shadows.
My shadow sniffs a
Black flower.
It looks upon a
Black bird.
The world of shadow
Is strange,
Lovely, and fun.
In fact,
Everything has a shadow
But the sun!

The Black Dog Is Prowling

The black dog is prowling around
Just quietly without a sound
The dog sniffs here and there
Who it gets it doesn’t care

It licks your hand just to say
I am not going to go away
And when you’re feeling low
In it jumps and steals the show.

Fawn Gate

A fawn
caught
in a dawning
of a morning
kiss,
Head rise
and espies
high skies
sniffs,
Find edibles
accessible
incredibles
bliss,
It jerks
one lurks
now alert
amiss,
harm perceives
imminent believes
escapes heaves
dismiss.

Who is in the kitchen?

Mad Times

MAD TIMES

The season of hope and growth
Following those cold empty days
Dark ribbed ploughed fields wait
As new life sniffs the warmer air
Bursting forth, as if all new ideas
In shades of lime, olive and sage
Avidly searching to see the sun
Soon to realise their new vision

Magnolia Morning

                Blossoming dawning
                A happy honey bee sniffs

Flowers For Mom

red, blue, pink and white
warm and fresh from wind and sun
bouquet smiles and joy

so lovely and hued
from drinking sun day to day
my mom sniffs the blooms

the honeybee hums
in amber scenes of summer
purple martin days

blooms in a blue vase
sweet and fragrant dreams tonight
strawberry season

Autumn Morning

neath firmament arched chilly gray,
black schnauzer sniffs, her leash drooped slack
beside my footfalls echoing
past lampposts painting puddles gold …
damp taste of winter … summer-thoughts …
thank goodness pink clouds herald day

In Fits

I am to believe, as much,
that we have diamond shifts
so when those deeper July sniffs
take our anger to bending knee,
there might be magic confiding grief.

When quiet is far away from home,
you look my way in northern solace
like I am weather's furious promise,
trying to turn this mood a little faster.

A Day At the Fair

Sniffs of cotton candy glide
Glistening like hairy sugar bombs
Through barns of dozy prized cows
Stinky squeaky piggies squeal off-key
While whirligig Ferris Wheels grind and spin
In the hum of the Tilt-A-Whirl and giddy voices

Peggy

When I ride my tricycle
With Daddy in the park
We take our dog Peggy
Because she likes to run and bark

She chases all the squirrels
And wags her tail at other dogs
Then she is yucky and sniffs the smells
Left on grass and logs

And when it’s time for us to go
She trots along beside
But she sometimes goes in my basket
And just enjoys the ride

Lion's Paw

In a forest clearing,
a doe worried and wary,
looks up to the noon sky;
peers through the bushes,
sniffs at the east wind,
listens to swaying leaves
... it's still safe.

Nearby, her nimble fawn
fumbles and stumbles
on a grassy, mossy mound,
playfully leaps around,
circles, dances on and on,
jumps over a rotting
... paw of a lion !!

Bud Treedom

Bud is loyal to the end
Bud loves me. I’m her friend
Bud licks my face
And sniffs my butt
Wags her tail
Yah, she’s a mut
Just like me, you see
I just may have some Native in me yet
With maps of Earth in her fur
And wrinkled ones on me
We’ve guided our way here
On Earth
Together
We are buds
Tree to pee
Anywhere we please
