Bridgewater's Clock

Clock
on wall
snickering
10 minutes fast
waiting on the wings
sipping an Ayinger
one hand playing with the phone
double checking Trenton schedule
another train is gonna get missed
order a shot with the next pint of beer

Why Did I Watch That

led through the strangest valley
and forest this eve
with snickering, horned, little
phosphoresent faries

carried by cellulose
to my cornea

wicked and vile winged creatures
swept around my vicera until
I remembered it was just a
movie.

Wind Acrostrain

Why are you all snickering at me

I'm telling you for the hundredth time

Not only am I not guilty,

Damn it, you know my farts smell sublime.

February Feints

February Feints

February creeps across the mud
chuckling
knowing it is not her milieu
snickering
as she tats snowflakes
whistling
as she scatters them
icily
on freshly chilled winds.

Laugh Now, Cry Later

laugh
                     comical, hysteric
          guffawing, chuckling, snickering
cheerfulness, amusement, squeal, caterwaul,
          grieving, whimpering, sniveling,
                   upset, lachrymose,
                              cry

Tranquility in Silence

Can you hear the absence of bickering,
the snickering, snide remarks and animosity?

The pomposity of inflated egos in blogs
that just shouldn't be taking place.

A blog without the chance for someone's
feelings to be trampled and hurt~
Just once~ humor me for creating such a blog.

I prefer the dentists ~ they interpret silence through big open mouths

mimed the ventriloquist during a prostate exam ~ curled up in doubts

imagining his puppets snickering ~ from the gloves inside their snouts

at last the doctor spoke ~ this one feels mostly shaggy or thereabouts

President Trump and Chairman Xicada

After the riot-
with chairman Wuhan swirling around his head
president Trump, with bible in hand,
strolled from the embattled white house
toward a smoldering church
quoted some apocalyptic verse
then cussed out the press...
For the first time in seventeen years
the cicadas are snickering-

Little People

LITTLE PEOPLE

a rustling outside?
(just leaves in the breeze)
                snickering

my shot of jack daniels
gone!
tiny burp giggle

my daughter
    crying
      her tea set missing

coffee spilled
        cat hisses
footprints on my toast

invisible?
no
very quick!

strange -
smoke out the chimney
of her doll house

Leaves of Life

We mourn the death of those
who through a season shared,
wept the morning dews,
their white veined fingers
wave at the rain, snickering,
cling through the breaths
     of gnashed clouds.
Then, each singular body falls
and becomes one pile of many,
like griefs we labor to endure
become memories of many lost
yet never truly...gone.

God Is a Homeless Man

That wonders day to day
Down many of life's avenue
Long, narrow, wide, straight
In tatters, rags & old shoes
Looking, searching for a bed
Or a dime, penny to get bye
And a place to call his own
& lay his weary body down
Where he decides & ends up

So when you see god
Just don't pass him bye
Snickering to yourself
Start a convo & say hello

Candelabra Ghost

candelabra ghost did a cha cha cha
He had the whole mansion to himself
Fiddly dee, fiddly whimsical mccaw
he grabbed two candelabras down from the shelf

It was heavy, sure, but looked great when lit
He lit them both and gave a hippy eye cay cay cay
The mansion began snickering, black cat had a fit.
Cannot please everyone said the ghost, but what the hey?

Don'T Impress Them

You shouldn't try impressing folks
above you;

they'll just look down their noses
       if you try to,

                sneering and snickering at whatever
                you do.

Nor should you show off to folks
below you;

they'll think you're either lying or
       plainly lucky;

                envious, they won't give credit
                where it is due.

We Have Matches Here

We are in the furniture store.
Oops. Pardon me, ma’am.
We are in the DEEEEE SIGN….ERRRR Store.
I see a bed I like.
I say “I feel like throwing a match in my house and starting over.”
Elise is snickering on cue.
The designer of the month is walking behind us.
I know because I recognize her from her giant photos in the store.
She says “We have matches here.”
I like her but not this prissy store.

Ninja Restaurant

I walked her home
Chatting aimlessly of nothing
Finding words to fill time
As we slithered by the Betty Crocker Shop
Sweet fragrances
Of apple pie and coffee
In a death grip
Pulled us both inside
And forced us to sit at a table
The waitress
A knowing accomplice
Snickering behind her receipt book
Scribbled down mounds of orders
That were forced upon us by the heated oven
Three hundred pounds later we left

I Cried Listening to Frank Sinatra's Christmas Album in the Car

Noel set me off.
Memories, permutations,
Eating paper.
My mother in her apron.
Dad with the black bin bag
Ready to bin the now useless wrapping
and
I thought.

As I heard my children screaming, snickering and howling downstairs.
What would set them off?
Set them off in their driverless car
Minor technological switches
Urine to wash the British navy's kecks
Half an hour rinse
After I've joined the dead
Thirty years from now.

Funny Man

Funny Man!
By Linda Hays-Gibbs
Oh funny man you touch the hardest heart
With messages to crumble and start
A snickering or flickering to spark
A laugh a full belly rumbler
A genius of illogical and logical matter
Without him the whole world is astronomically sadder
Oh let our grief someday subside
That we in heaven will find
A bench upfront to see his latest comedic job ( I pray)
The jester (Robin Williams) at heaven's court for God

Poetic Correspondence With the Competitive Equestrian Digital Magazine

Such a wonderful sight
A horse going into flight
Captured in a lens
Documenting by the writer's pen
For once a horse was used for war
And now has a prescence of peace with a score
May we continue the beauty of a horse show
Snickering at others athletic events saying 'what do you really know"
You see it is the beauty of a horse that can never cease
With its artistic message reminding us all of the word peace

The lion speaks to
The sunbaked wry winds
Toast the savana
Wildebeest trample
Urging with bellows
Mousebirds, Drongos
Sweltering wings
Nervously sit
In Baobabs

Moving Trailer

Who are the fools
snickering and giggling
behind his back?
Why must they
constantly mutter
that he's destined for the rack?
Don't they realize
they grant him courage
he'd otherwise lack?
That their presence
guides his path
through winds he must tack?
And, no matter
his labored breathing
he'll overcome the dry hack?
Is it, truly,
they desire, only,
mere coins to fill their sack?
Or, does he require them
so he may assume
his role as rightful Jack?

Anatomy of Melancholy

In dizzy terrors, the ominous, relentless pull
of the numb night; sneers, shortcuts
clumsily trod; meandering the easy paths
where sins and lies are perfected and
nourished into pseudo truths that are
delightfully embraced. A credible potpourri
of slippery stones in a quagmire of guilt.
A quicksand of snickering gravity where
nothing escapes except the last one who cared.
Suffocating in our insignificance, too late for
sincere tears, too late to reach for
             no one.
