Can you hear the absence of bickering, the snickering, snide remarks and animosity? The pomposity of inflated egos in blogs that just shouldn't be taking place. A blog without the chance for someone's feelings to be trampled and hurt~ Just once~ humor me for creating such a blog.

Hi Lin, Some simply just like to hear the sound of their own blog!! ....there are genuine good hearted blogs, informative blogs, respectful differences of opinion blogs, fun/funny blogs on P.S...then there are blogs that attempt to tell poets how to respond , upset, intimidate and belittle with their sarcastic, rude, dismissive, smart-a**e comments ....all for the desire to be top dog l believe! Just my observation and opinion! It is not hard to be respectful, polite and kind in all you do on P.S...Debx

well observed Deb, thankfully other poets are seeing the big issue especially when they try to give their opinion on a certain subject and get shouted down

Morning and thank you, Deb. Your observations are correct and your opinion is one that many poets share. It’s about attitude and respect. Bad attitudes are disrespectful. Thanks a bunch my sweet friend.

No snickering or snide remarks or pomposity? You may as well staple my tongue to my desk. That’s my shtick!

I know another side of you that snickers politely. You don’t write or type with your tongue so it’s safe but be careful what you write or I may have to use a stapler on your fingers.

Lin, love this. It's so true. Peaceful and tranquil are what everyone needs. I get tired of the blogs with all the attacking and belittling comments.

It's been like that for far too long. Inevitably, it becomes ticky tacky fun and games or mudslinging with words.

Only recently, I wrote a ‘polite’ reply to a blog that I disagreed with. Don’t know if it was too long or my internet was waning, but it simply wouldn't post. Ultimately i decided it was a sign and concluded that some views expressed in blogs are so full of holes and contradictions that they’re best simply ignored… so I did ;-)

You probably saved yourself having to defend your comments, Terry. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing about things, but often it becomes a boxing match to see who can throw the hardest punch. I've seen 10 years of it in which it happens exactly as you've described it.

I’m sure most of the blogs serve some kind of reaching out or communication purposes Lin, but definitely should not be hijacked for propaganda, grandstanding, demeaning, or trying to impose self importance on others, just go write a poem and get it off your chest, I’d have a crown of sonnets written in the same amount of time some people spend there! That’s probably what’s wrong with them, they have no poetry left in them, cheers David

I'd accept comments if they're respectful, but having given the chance more than once, it just hasn't worked out that way.

I’ve said enough Lin lol! but will happily prescribe more if they want to grandstand on my page! but good healthy banter or justifiable critique is always welcome there and encouraged, ;)

David, I had to stop laughing before I could respond to your comments. You know all too well how some blogs are confiscated and turned into a free-for-all in a schoolyard, defeating the purpose of the blog. It always seems to be the ones who post the least amount of poetry that has the most to write in blogs. Could be your diagnosis is correct. What would you prescribe for those? You'd better not say, or you'll be accused of disturbing the peace. ;-)

Lin, silence is tranquility, it is like breathing air for me, I need it ! When my husband was alive we loved to debate things and often disagreed, but we loved the energy, and it was always a wonderful exchange of views, never him trying to change me, nor I wanting him to agree with me, it is called a healthy debate. I miss that a lot. But, you are right the blogs can be like stepping in quicksand, or entering a war zone, love your poem ~

I miss that in a marriage, too, Constance. Conversation is healthy as long as it's respectful. I've stayed away from blogs to avoid the frenzy feeding that sometimes takes place in those waters, or when they become a fun fest for ridicule and good ol boy jokes on topics that have nothing to do with the blog's intent. When the ocean roars from argumentative turmoil, there is no tranquility.

And a beautiful sound it is too Lin, if only folks could just agree to disagree and leave it there. Folks are always going to have their own likes and dislikes and we should always respect each other. Tom

It is, Tom. I would like to hope that if fences can't be mended, at least the incessant, "Let's see what ugly things they wrote about me today," will stop. Poetry is not always about someone real, and it's not an attack as some think. Is it ego that fuels people to assume that if I write a line saying something about an ogre, that I must mean it pertains to a poet? That's foolishness, so I'll say~ stop looking for hidden slurs. As the sign shows, "Silence is better than unnecessary drama." I don't want to be part of any drama. I just want to write.
