Premium Member We choke
It’s not as though we lost our cool
without any reason at all;
the unschooled should follow this rule:
no smoking’s allowed in the hall.

Others may call it a defect
but it’s the butterfly effect,
against which fragile lungs protest
and smokers, we speak not in jest....

Working in the Smoke
Brick, grit smeared towers,
crank-out smears for heavy smokers.

Under every stacked chimney
goblins belch, coughing up,
cancer into a riddled sky.

Workers wade through
ankle pulling tar,
grab at the soothing puffs,

as a smoldering sky glows
red
in every clouded yellow eye....

The President Smokes No More
The President Smokes No More

By Elton Camp

The Secret Service is no longer chokin’
President Obama at last quit smokin’
Michelle Obama is so very glad
But the cig makers are quite sad

They hoped that a man so great
Potential smokers would imitate
Tobacco sales are likely to drop
Since the President chose to stop...

Smoke Free - Part Iii
I've been smoke free for three months, that's a quarter of a year.
I quit because of health concerns, I quit before things became severe.
I've been quit for ninety-two days which is 2,208 hours.
All I needed was seven nicotine patches and some will power.
I have something to say to smokers that is true.
I quit smoking and if I can quit, so can you....

A Smoking Room
A poet's reading another poet is like
a smoking room at the airport:
an enclosed space,
happy non-smokers behind glass walls,
the poet's thoughts,
as strong as Cuban cigars,
coming through
bluish twists of the another poet's fantasy,
as sweet as Virginia*,
a boarding announcement,
a new tobacco smelling meeting
in another airport’s smoking room.

* A tobacco's brand....

A Smokers Heart
Running,panting,sweating blood,
my chests a river and a bleeding flood.
Cursing,ripping, this beating heart,
how it hates to be torn apart.
The racing drum within my chest,
calls to halt this violent test.
Lungs are black,and engine broke,
no more strength is left to yoke.
Simply now there was a pause,
hold your tongue and find the cause.
My fault alone,by my own hand,
I broke apart this one man band....

Sinner Or Saint
. SINNER OR SAINT
Sitting at the back pew in church,
I looked to the front and beheld a familiar figure,
Is it not the drunkard of Miles street?
Is it not the smoker of all types?
He was in queue for the holy eucharist,
And his gaze fixed to the cross in the altar,
I contemplated "is he a sinner or saint"?
Let our Heavenly Father judge.

Elation of Soul
The discomfort of dear soul
Wants elation and manic goal
Intoxication's sport on smokers' spot
Fascinating aromas and Jack Daniels' blot

Strolling out by getting drunk
In your charm I have sunk
A distant melody makes me tremble
In snowy woods my senses assemble

Blizzard transforming the species alike
All wild passions abruptly arrive
Want of Marlboro fades away
Amazed, I throw Dunhill and sway.

Fight Smoking
No smoke without fire,
Smoke to fight men fire,
None to fight smokers fire,
The smokers to fight cigarette fire,
Cigarette in face to face not in secret,
It's in fact a case brings regrets,
Smoking is like carrot to rabbits,
Days come to realize it isn't correct,
Our heart and soul born strict,
Our believes warning like a stick,
When some one picks smoking habit,
It becomes soon addict,
To decide and deliver his own verdict!...

Callous System's Chaos
cursed wraps wielding
callous contractions clustering
saucy smokes smoldering
taunted anger tuning
rustic route rustling
felon feelings fostering

unbridled opening undoing
pulsing passage renting
vying passion puking

punctured veins shrinking
like nature's thrill
when tattered's fiery

callous system's chaos
blackout, ballistic war.

Random Thoughts*18* My Birthday
Twenty third of September
two thousand nine.
A night to remember
intoxicated,
the casino smells of pine.
I have just turned twenty nine...

Loud,
a mixed crowd.
Drinking,
gambling,
I'm in the smokers lounge.
Hunting,
I'm a sex hound.
Thinking,
while dancing.
We make our rounds.

R&B sounds,
Coming from above.
Dancing with fury,
drinking without care.
Tomorrow is going to hurt,
hungover,
alone in my lair

Smoke Free
For one month, I've been smoke free.
31 days ago, I put smoking behind me.
God and the nicotine patches have helped me to quit and I'm grateful.
And without those patches, the nicotine withdrawal would've made me become hateful.
But I'm no longer using the patches and I think I have the problem licked.
I've been smoke free for a month and I think that I'm no longer an addict.
Let me tell other smokers something that's true.
I was able to kick the habit and so can you....

Exceptions
Exceptions disregard the rules
Like neither’s “i” and “e”
Or smokers who refuse to quit
And live to ninety-three.

Cops who park illegally
As if they were allowed
And those who pass the velvet ropes
That won’t admit the crowd.

Parents who refuse vaccines
For reasons none too clear
And A-list folk for whom a table
Seems to just appear.

There’s an expectation that
From rules, some will depart;
Exceptions, though, remind us that
What’s fair plays little part....

End Up With Cancer
My son had done it since just a kid
By others, forever they would forbid
When smoking often has been done
What you do others will start to shun.

Why should people smoke these days
When they will never receive any praise
To smokers seems to be an escape;
Smell does even get on each drape.

They continue smoking day after day
And for poor people I will always pray
They finally found an eloquent answer
It can cause you to end up with cancer.

Tobacco
People are undecided if you are a plant or a weed. You have very big flowers that produce a lot of seed. You are valued in the South as a cash crop. Your sales have helped numerous farmers over the top. Your numbers grow abundantly throughout the land. With a bad name, you are still in great demand. Your products made from the leaves can be held in the hand. Yes, your cigars and cigarettes are what many crave. You have sent a lot of smokers to an early grave.
