Trouble Is Stewing

O the stew of human progress
The feast of our enterprise
Simmered long enough now
For society to settle
The Fatheads
Have risen to the top

Cryptic Phrases

Cryptic phrases
I can’t decode them
Frozen in a memory
Of what you might have meant
Was it you who said these things
Or a voice that simmered
On the depths of the horizon?

Chicken, yogurt, garlic, ginger,
garam masala, cayenne,
turmeric, cilantro simmered in a skillet.

I Will Survive.

I sprain my ankle alot
doing things my ankle can't handle,
obviously.
My fondue is simmered by the pain; the flame of new.
Makes me feel alive,
and a bit horny too.
I will survive.

Stewed

Delicious tender beef chunks
simmered with onions
and small round white potatoes
in a seasoned sauce.
Real men don’t eat quiche.
They adore
stew!

Bereavement

Let not the heat of anger scorch one's soul.
Simmered down by a rain of sorrow,
New life can be had from the ground below.
There, the soul gives birth to a seed of joy,
Sustained by memories of those lost to time.

Lifeless

Tender petals have withered away

Blissful thoughts have simmered away

Those unfulfilled promises are memorable

They refuse to slither away

My life continues to flicker away

Nights

I simmered in my warm pool of anger...
Splattered wax from the candles; broken...
Regrets dripping from the words not spoken...
The eerie night breeze came in from the south...
The darkness breathed and writhed in the wind...
Where have I begun? And where will I begin?

Pendulum

I've been at the edge before, I swear
I've made it to where hope is simmered down;
But there was nothing for me there,
So I simply turned around.

I've retraced all the footsteps, I swear
I've made my way up and back to town;
But there was nothing for me there,
So I simply turned around.

Walking Away

Walking away

Day you betrayed my love
my heart profusely bled,
As passion simmered
the soul rested in peace,
Came no thoughts of walking away.

Chimney Tops

Colors matter more in light.
Here comes a late day.
In it you realize you were wrong.
Mountains spoke to you.
"Never a dull image of God are you."
Evenings simmered around you.
You climb up here with me to the tippy-top
To see all that can be seen
Over our layered dreams.
Perhaps we shall learn
Summer's colors before the clock strikes thirteen.

Blessing Star

Your black hair shimmered
I knew not the reason
I watched it every little season
My heart and head simmered
Your shapely body twinkled
As if never would it be wrinkled
Yet it had a little lesion
Which never ever rankled

You were my heart`s queen
Those organs of sight
Just witty and bright
They caught me off guard
An angel is all l had seen
I zoomed heavenward!

Waiting For the Weekend

Monday madness mauled my meandering melancholy mind
Tuesday tinkered tactlessly through tainted thoughtless taunts
Wednesday went without wonderful words whispered willingly
Thursday tempting taunting the tigresses to truant
Friday frivolously featured fruitful freaky fun frolics
Saturday simmered signifying sumptuous sultry spectacular scenes
Sunday slow slovenly siesta singing sunny songs

Chicken Curry

Tender boneless chicken breast
                                      Steeped in warm spices
                                     Gently simmered in hot oil
                                              With tomatoes
                                            Ripe red and juicy
                                                  Melting in
                                                     Mouth!

How Hot Was It

Slowly over the hours it simmered.
intensifying as the heat deepened.

Senses now on fire in anticipation.
Skin heating up in expectation.

Blood now hot and bubbling.
Flames everywhere shooting.

Stomach growls as it is hit.
Legs give out and so I sit.

Wow that was one hot curry
Never ever good to hurry.

If you thought it something different
Would a woman really be so flagrant?

May

T'was like autumn at May,
Where the sun vaguely sprinkled
Its delightful rays
At the tree which bore
Thy love that reigned
And shed its leaves
Like drops of rain.

T'was like autumn at May,
When the wind blew
Chilling the colors out of you
Where the rain slowly simmered
The misery it conveyed
Like how our love slowly died
In the cold winter winds of hate.

We fell out of love,
On that month we call 'May'.

Sparks

I knew when sparks flew
From my brand in her cavern,
The friction-lit dark
Fanned the impotent fires;
The charring of juices
Hot, uric and spicy,
Flowed a lateral tango
And the hairs sluiced with life.
With a breath of exalting
The dream turned to torture,
Collapsed in a gnarling
Of dust from the grind;
When done only dying
With memory and meat-hooks
Simmered down upon skin
And the night embroiled vengeance.

Lderliness

Elderliness

Closer and closer they came
old women with faces made of lava
and stinking volcanic mouths.
Bodies of soil after years of drought,
dead oasis simmered
between thin thighs and haloes
of brittle hair.
They slowly stomped during ancient dust
covered their bird claw feet.
I turned and fled through a thorny bush.
Stumbled into indifference time.
Fell into a muddy lake
and drowned in a cascade of ages.

The Beautiful, Answered Prayer

Ask, and it shall be given you . . . " from a portion of Matthew 7:7 King James Version The valley was scorching. Air simmered despair as its people prayed for rain. Eyes cast skyward, they cried, “God, bring us relief. This drought will be our bane.” One evening a deluge came over the land, washing their fears away. They woke to sweet petrichor. Glorious light flooded the break of day.

Once We Were Ii

Cherished lovers ...
only in a magical mesmerizing moment
coloring passion remembered.
Passion ... someone's perfume perhaps or,
a desire for chocolate fudged to ebony.
Sweethearts embrace
held in pre-alzheimer snapses ... cuddling.
Such a pity, or perhaps ...
a blessing? Why swoon or sway in the silence?
Just rest in a sweetness
of simmered leftovers
embracing this soul that knows
mountaintop peaks,
starbursts of ectasy
forever and always.

The Journey Within

A battlefield of delusion
A victim in the walls of her own conclusion

Smothered by the tapestry of threading thoughts
The guilt lurking, persistent knots

Blind to the bright and forgiving revive
She descends into the depths of another disguise

A breath like suffocation
This powerful realm of obsession

The worn pages flip one by one
Her vision scattered before the setting sun

A burning flame that simmered
A dimming radiance in her eyes that once glimmered

Aubergine

The French expression is exquisite,
fat succulent globes glowing darkly,
but if you're looking for length look
to the East, although they lack girth.
Yet the Greeks do it best
sleek glossy orbs, rubbed with
olive oil then laid in their bed and
immersed in an effusion of
ripe succulent Roma slowly
simmered with garlic, oregano
and perhaps a few chilies, if you like it
hot and then covered with a thick
white sauce béchamel and lasciviously
savoured with a mature rich red.
