The Seventies
The Me Generation
Best of my Heart
mutton-chop sideburns
bellbottoms... flowery, flared
chic… chains and chest hairs
You remind me of Janis.
Janis Joplin that is from the seventies.
Do you sing as well?

In the seventies
When we showed our bellies
we wore teeny tiny tops
And we were teeny tiny ourselves
We thought we were cute
Because we were
In the seventies
summers that tasted to me like youth's freedom
bridge over troubled waters topping the chart
how soon I would come to understand

laugh in
big grin
Note:Sean's footle comments remind me of Rowan & Martin's show of the seventies- a great
favourite of mine at the time as Sean is here on PS
I am in love with my own art
cartoons painted in neons
that show up under black lights
also in love with music
classical, folk, jazz, seventies,
sixties, forties, gospel.
in 1971 the dresses were worn way above the knee
Mini-skirts did not come out until 1973.
But these skirts were scandalous in Daddy’s eyes.
His baby girl a delight, his angel, a gift, a prize.
Sammy Jo’s photographer’s heart captures the seagull in flight
Her mother has collected seagulls since the seventies
She imagines her mother declaring this a masterpiece
she adores her daughter’s skills
Two birthday girls, they are both in their seventies.
I cannot figure out what to give them with ease.
They probably already have bunches of unusable stuff.
I enter the store knowing my search will be rough.
“Billy Boots”, was a comic strip in the seventies
British it was, it referred to rubber boots regularly
Wellingtons or Mukluks
Useful for ducks
Momma wouldn't let me outside without my wellies
red hot lava lamp
shaggedy raggedy rug
peace sign plump flower
bell bottom hip huggers
fake fur vests and free love
open hearts, open ideas
nineteen seventy
volkswagon buses and Viet Nam
such a contradiction
If you do not remember this granny squared poncho
Then you are a poser
And you never lived in the seventies
Or you never crocheted
Or you lived the seventies with blinders on
And a mop bucket upside down over your eyes
I strut the bars of night
Rawhide jacket with chains
Disco gyres through punk seventies—
High on beer, Marlboro
Leather brands me-- rebel
Innocence gone from wild kisses.

Revolutionary, the stance we took,
The freedom of iconoclastic paths
To justify rebellious avenues
That swayed the truth in plain objective wraths.

"In the Seventies"
Jimmy was in his seventies
And took himself a young wife
His biggest concern was fatherhood
At his time of life
“What birth control would you suggest?
Which would be best for me?”
He asked his doctor, who replied
“I think in your case, nudity”
Form:
Cars in the seventies,
Had character, you see,
Lime green Fords with stripes GT,
Waxed on weekends, thoroughly,
Double Cam exhausts with Mag wheels,
Now bland cars are the deal,
White, black, silver or grey,
Purple or orange cars just drove away!
in the seventies we all wanted to look like Farrah Fawcett of course
She was a gorgeous blonde actress, her smile was a heavenly force.
We ran to the hairdressers to get the Farrah Fawcett cut.
None of us looked like her, so the cut was kind of a bust.
Exploring regions unexplored heretofore
my body springs to attention like a rusty door…
O, that I had listened to Doctor Gore
I wouldn't be near this sore ...

April sixteenth is known as “The Record Store Day”,
The old “seven inch” vinyl type of music way!
Drop by those old Record shops and take a quick look!
Memories of old stomping grounds of a cool nook,
Join the groovy “nostalgia seventies” sway!
she kicked off her shoes and let the sand squish into her toes
the music was straight out of the seventies, folk and fun
with excitement she began to twirl and kick up the beach
feeling nineteen again, not caring who saw
being herself for the first time in fifty years
a musical trio
livening up the prairie
enthusiastic beatnik dog on bongo drums
terrifically talented tambourine-playing Tomcat
Romanian beauty with flashing eyes with a ukulele
people arrive to sing along and dance
it feels like the seventies
Woodstock sixty years later
