Saturday

The ninety-six degree temperature,
Sunlit leaves smile on the day.
I filled birdfeeders at six.
Did a little painting.
Re-watched old TV
Self indulgent
Saturday
Lasts too
Long

Jesus and the Pharisee

Humility~ Jesus sat with sinners uplifted the lowly and washed the Disciples' feet. The Pharisee valued power more than souls was greedy and self-indulgent* and expected the best seat.* ~Hubris

Staring At a Freckle

Staring at a freckle
Misunderstanding her power
Deleting my feeble attempt at happiness
I sigh at my self-imposed, self-indulgent lunacy

who cares?
No one
A beauty mark in some circles
not considered a blemish at all.
Crazy feelings entertained freely by me
which mean nothing

I pointedly ignore the freckle
the rest of my life...

Striking Matches

The one who's forbidden,
The apple unbitten.
You fight with temptation
For a love unallowed.

I promise to let you
Do things how you need to,
For love isn't hurried,
Self-indulgent or proud.

Though constricted by chains
They will rust in the rain,
Because time is a healer
And our wounds won't last.

I promise to love you.
I will be the one who
Will hold your hand as we
Set fire to the past.

when I was beautiful

When I was beautiful

A rose in bloom
a field mouse
Climbed my stem
fell asleep in the center
To inhale and sleep
in my fragrance.
The rave
had no sense of beauty
I was a lure
The struggle was short.
Self-indulgent
I kissed the sun
Nothing untoward
had happened
Summers are so short
To be a revolutionary.
The Rose Revolution
in Portugal ended
now we have
social-democracy

Drugs

I've never been slapped with such a hard dose of
reality
With talks of old memories being laughed off
It hit me
began enveloping my senses
What I endured was abuse.
In more ways than I've led myself to believe. & Now it seems

These drugs have a tendency
to numb all my senses.
My self indulgent deeds
Have destroyed my inner sanctum
I'm afraid I've become the enemy
From this battle raging within

Diversity

Do you believe that beauty just seen.
I believe beauty is in the eye of beholder.
Variance is the key factor of any gene.
Everyone is beautiful, though some are colder.
Reaching your idea of beauty will never bequeath.
Since your idea of self indulgent looks are bold.
Individuality presses upon appearance of all.
Travel the worlds populous to truly unfold.
You shall see the true beauty of humankind's fall.

Bitter Memory

I loved you as no other could that night in mid-July
Whispering sweet sighs like soft breezes wafting through the trees
Beneath a wispy cloud-shaded moon and star-encrusted sky
I felt a tingling, surging weakness through my trembling knees.

Could I ever have known you were a self-indulgent tease
That I was only meant to be another fleeting score
That by mid-August of me you'd remember nothing more.

Earworms

EARWORMS peaceful music mantra to staunch the flow of blood. Rushing through my bent brain buzz racing faster than a freight train such futility gives pleasure. Like a torpid inert joke or passing tune that adheres itself .Glued pasted provoked EARWORMS that won’t let go I succumb.. to impending implosions I play.. self indulgent songs EARWORMS to get me out of my own way © Kim van Breda

rose revolution

Rose revolution

I was born a beautiful rose
up my stem, a mouse climbed
to inhale my scent and sleep
in the center of my bud
ALAS
The raven came, knows no
sense of beauty
I was an innocent ruse
stealing the beauty
of sleep
my feeling of freshness
self -indulgent kiss words
I saw nothing untoward
I should have seen
Roses are too wonderful
for revolution
A rose uproar in Portugal
quickly strangled
by social democracy

I

I,
A solitary expression of monumental proportions,
The sum of all parts with extra to spare,
The word and the meaning at once,
Selfish and lonely,
I,
When it's me, I am everything,
When it's you, I don't care,
All for one, and one for one,
The cart before the horse,
I,
Self-reliance, self-sufficient,
Self-effacing, self-indulgent,
Self-absorbed, self-righteous,
Self-made, self-important,
But without you,
I don't exist.

Narcissus

I think that I shall never see A poem near as nice as me. When I spy my own reflection Sultry suitors face rejection. Such noble brow, bright eyes flash blue My smile so suave, teeth twinkle too. Fine profile, Greek, ideal shot, Six pack of abs, my body’s hot. So long I’ll linger by this pool Though deemed one self-indulgent fool. A thousand years from now, you’ll see, Gardeners still will cherish me! March 1, 2022

Green Roses

Roses can be green

The globalized world is a grey blanket
the common language and culture (consumerism)
A haze of foul jollity and hollow laughter
lost minds, save elephants and waterholes

life is self-indulgent a rush into the arms of self
where the famous chef wears a toupee.

Roses are blue, the only colour of today
oxalate hamburgers, beans in tomato sauce
sesame seed for breakfast, lunch and dinner
Eunuchs are ruling the worldwide internet.

Roses Are Not Blue

Roses are not blue

The world as one is a grey blanket of nothing
The same language the same culture (consumerism)
A haze foul of jollity and hollow laughter.
Lost minds save the elephant and waterholes

Life is a self-indulgent rush into the arms of self
And movies of no consequence.

Roses are blue it is the only colour today
Oxalating hamburger, beans in tomato sauce
Sesame seed for breakfast, lunch and dinner
Eunuchs are ruling the planet, welcome.

I AM

I am but a single shuddering whisper trapped beneath the shroud,

a lingering fluttering flicker of self indulgent doubt.

I am but a small one, an itty bitty insignificant flake of dust,

among the sunlight.

A little soft, though not soft spoken,

a little daft, a wee bit broken,

much too hardened, yet, too young

to be outspoken

instead of “spoken for” or

“in love.”

I am but a girl, spirit frayed and bittered hag

softly and constantly being reborn.

Selfish

Seeing only those things which affects only yourself.

Envious of what others have and that you now want for yourself.

Living only to please and prove yourself.

Focused on only on what you can obtain out of this life for yourself.

Interested only about how you look, admiring only yoursel.

Self indulgent and filled with much disrespect for anyone other than yourself.

Hear these words and know that if these words describe you? This is more than likely an accurate depiction of yourself.

Dis-Grace

Disgrace to me is nothing...
but I spurn true love of you.
I drive a wedge between our hearts
and foil your designs.

I cannot do this alone.
Alone, I would be a self-indulgent monster
doomed to a path of self-destruction
after splintering my share of the world.

With you, God, I may be pure again.
I ask for your grace.
Give me strength to resist temptation.
Help me to love you better.

Amen.
