Bitter Memory

I loved you as no other could that night in mid-July Whispering sweet sighs like soft breezes wafting through the trees Beneath a wispy cloud-shaded moon and star-encrusted sky I felt a tingling, surging weakness through my trembling knees. Could I ever have known you were a self-indulgent tease That I was only meant to be another fleeting score That by mid-August of me you'd remember nothing more. Written May 14, 2021

Hope this wasn't your experience, Milton! For many men it can be, as the title of your poem says, a bitter experience and memory. Thanks for reading my poem on the Comice pear. / Maurice

You're welcome, Maurice. I enjoyed it. Thanks for your read on a disappointing encounter many, many years ago!
