A Joe that I know likes gambling
To the casinos, he goes rambling
A game of Kino was played
Eight of the numbers he made
Lost his ticket, so he’s scrambling

Picking up the pieces
the anger still fierce
losing a loved one
to a disease you can't control
scrambling for answers
looking through tears
as we gather for
a last farewell

Scratches all over my body,
Pouring into the glass of wine that spilled over my wound,
Counting on my fingers, the night terrors,
Scrambling to find the door where my heart belongs.

Humpty-Dumpty sat on the wall and gambled,
That if he fell his yolk would not be scrambled.
Yet when he fell,
He cracked his shell.
Alas, no way he could be reassembled!

sliding down
the cerulean spiral
grasping for
plasticine safeguards
to soften the
soul-crushing impact
of hitting bottom
again
feet scrambling
fingers digging
inching the way upward
only to slip
again

The sea rolls to shore
white horses prevail
the shells toss about
crabs losing their homes
scrambling to hide
Sea birds waiting
tasty morsels
if they are quick
bad weather luck
Winds abort
all is calm
sun comes out
children
paddling
Peace

Hydrangea’s lay pruned
Nude branches reach longingly
Squirrels scrambling one last time
North winds have spoken
Secrets nature understands
Her warm quilt is on the way

White hat black cat par, enigmas...
Precious the innocent young child
Seven or eight; shyly, as curiously
Peeking around, the opened door
An image birthing wings of flight ?
Scrambling to unravel, this maze...
Recapture a purity which lived; try
Making sense; love's, what's why's.

Frightened faces marked with terror,
scrambling around in every direction,
demonic fear, satanic horror -
my mind sees them in quiet meditation.
I hear the distant rumbling of steel,
followed by the tolling of the bell;
here comes the call of the gun,
hell has come to everyone.

Three days ago, my ophthalmologist performed my first cataract operation,
All went well I must say,
But I am seeing double today,
So please everybody who I have answered with persistent determination,
Excuse my typing, incorrect spelling and my intense unrelenting frustration.

Scrambling across the sky
Oh, just to know
How the sun bird flies
With my brain in tow
Growing in my mind
Fluttering on a wing
Flight from shoreline
Oh, how he sings
Lift on high old one
Perch upon thy crag
Closest to the sun
Waving your feathered flag
How we so enjoy
Your screech of ahoy!

Scrambling down to Cracker Town
I’ll have a Ritz, a salt, a round.
Can I come too? Asked a blue tick hound.
If you promise to not make a sound.
Triscuits followed us all along the way.
Wheat thins so jumpy, they could not stay.
Had no idea what else we might see.
Butter, peanut butter, cheese spread, and me.

Cast A Long Shadow
Lying in my bed dying,
Not wanting to let go.
Everyone keeps crying.
Seeing myself like Van Gogh!
Don't let go its mystifying
Cast a long shadow
Floating through the air
Doctors scrambling here and there
Nurses working to be prepared.
Cast a long shadow
Sitting in a chair
Beginning to say my prayer

Difficult to decipher,
you are more than what I’d hoped for and less than what I ask.
It’s this space between the time we find ourselves wrapped in one another.
We are real and infinite,
but the pretense is all wrong.
We tangle tongue tied,
scrambling for something out of reach.
Is this the way it’s supposed to be?
Undoubtedly yours, but am I?

Please stop- that I was
Gazing to my cup
Of thoughts
Please wake up
- That you were
Scrambling into dream
Please stay- that we were
Drinking this moment in time
Together
Don’t fade in a dust of dusk
Our fate is together
Please-
Stop we fade two- in a solitude of shadows
of what we were
Stay and let we take this road together
For this time!

I do not know?
You were old and new all at once
A deadly temptation
A glitch in my solid nature
And so I dove head first
And as I did I watched the pieces
Of me break away
To reveal an alien
A rawness, a vulnerability
I had never thought I possessed
Yet there I was
And there you were unchanged
And unaware that I was scrambling
For my better peices

there must be a way
to sustain a creative flow
between yesterday and today
and right through tomorrow
inspiration trying to be mysterious
playing hide and seek
creativity is wondrous
but my well sprung a leak
scrambling with my bucket
trying to collect every drop
I wanna say you know what it
but I just can't seem to stop!

The roses are dead;
Its autumn air has stiffened them;
Dandelions yet blossoms;
Squirrels hide their winter kernel achene;
Scrambling, gathering storm stores for winters crest;
Birds seeking sanctuary heading south and west;
Sitting in buildings eves, roofs and arches covering rest;

A cat runs across the road,
then a rabbit, then a deer.
I look left, a barn is airborne,
it flies away in slow motion,
boards silently flapping.
We have a deductible of $400, you say.
A gull rolls over the hood, sea-legs
scrambling over smooth metal.
The car is rocking.
"Did you turn off the coffee-maker"?
We are just talking;
our minds already rowing ashore.

As fruit sprouts from mangled trees
fighting to survive disease
new prods must tremble the knees
since cheated serfs deserve less
coddling strokes to stoke sickness,
new stress must press for distress
pumping 50,000 watts
into people casting lots
braving to stave social rots
while scrambling the strong of mind
and binding us all behind
fearful compliance maligned.

Everyone has their skepticisms,
Fears,
And pessimistic views,
But if we live our lives looking at the glass half empty,
Rather than half full,
We'll spend our whole lives in search of that mythical full glass.
Instead of searching aimlessly
Throughout a mess of jumbled up,
Emotion scrambling
Circumstances,
Be thankful for the now,
Don't wait until it has already passed you by.

To be a woman:
Is to search your father's missing love in stranger's beds
To live life scrambling for love
Yet hating every moment of it
To crave gentleness, yet run at the sight of it
Such is womanhood,
in its adequate inadequacy.
- The parallel life of a woman

With a screech like an owl that lives in the park;
It moves like a shadow from out of the dark.
While repeating the stories that come to their ears;
There in the tunnel a vision appears.
Running like rodents, scrambling for cheese;
They repeat all their stories like a spreading disease.
Thoughtlessly selfish, the frightened recite;
And there’s no joy in mud vile, not here not to night
