Early morning thud...
the bedroom door opens wide...
ginger cat scampers
frightened by the sudden sound
of an overturned tchotchke
Through the fog, I see shadows.
Silhouettes of people or spirits.
Like the cat that scampers when startled.
Without haste I hide behind the sofa.
big white snowflakes fall
and land upon the garden - -
a puppy scampers

This illness scampers behind me for all eternity
It strikes me down when I least expect it, my mind’s internal storm
It is permanently attached to my disfigured soul.
Small
squirrel
scampers fast
away from me.
Up a tree he flees.
An acrobat,
He then leaps
tree to
tree.

I have a tiny pony,
so small she lives indoors.
She scampers up the stairway
to sleep atop my bedspread.
I never can be lonely
for this wee horse adores
To be with me all day
To share my buttered cornbread.
the cats rise, arch, eat, lick,
then slink off seeking sun-
toiling is not in their ken.

the dog also rises; stretches;
scampers comically to your side
and farts...first smile of the day!
Listen to poem:
O' slumbers o'er swarts realm rends the hawks,
Labyrinth town, lady o' night then gawks,
Man fumbles a hand,
Zipped lady attend,
Mouse scampers pass heels, a lady balks.

Seasons Change Places
Thick fog scampers up steep hills in billowing tendrils
Ocean winds sweep in on heavy mists at sunset
Summer shivers as days grow shorter
Skies reflect amber, golden hues of twilight leaves
Autumn approaches.

Rabbit on the run,
is no fun,
hound dog in
the chase in hot
pursuit, is life to
the fullest for
this little dog.
Rabbit scampers
down his hole,
and proceeds to
laugh his head
off.
Until he sees
Mr Rattle snake
making that noise
they always do,
such a nice
lunch old
Rattle snake
had.

Carolina Jasmina
Carolina Jasmina scampers up a trellis
Wearing a gown of marigold yellow;
Adorns plain old wooden fences
On fragile vines - a perfumed delight!

Adorns plain old wooden fences;
Wearing a gown of marigold yellow
Carolina Jasmina scampers up a trellis.

The soul of man has known too much ache.
the heavens spill salted mercy water,
but the regalia of misery shields his body
his glare too impaired to recognise release.
he frets in his hood,
he flees for shade,
scampers from fortune.
his err, his cross.
desires of a little ease,
that threatens tomorrow's lease
Nature's deceit,
A game oft played.
Yet he falls, he fails.
The soul of man,
how feeble, how weak.
Tiger’s head raises up quickly. What was that noise?
His lady is sleeping, and he wants quiet in the castle.
A young page whispers a shaky apology and scampers off.
He did not realize that tiger was in the throne room.
The princess stirred but briefly. Tiger held his breath.
He was guarding her and her child, an awesome responsibility.
Given to him by her honor the Queen Mother.
He relaxed when she resumed her slumber.
STEEL-EYED HORIZON
Watercolor paper
So drab
Steel-eyed horizon
Why are the clouds still gray?
Winter never begins
Winter never ends
Leaves long to cling
Onto bare branches
Robins bespeak contentment
Sowing songs of faithful season
Of daffodil days
Unfurled skies of blue
Lush Bermuda grass
Gray scampers off –
A scurry of squirrels
A thin smile of Spring

Shadow of a dog scared the workers who were pouring our basement.
It looked like a giant dog; like a Marmaduke of a dog, like a beast.
One of the workers crawled out of the pit to have a closer look.
It was a friendly dog with a huge body and enormous head
It had the shortest tiniest legs ever put on a dog with a body this size.
A weird combination of dog, moving slowly as it scampers away.
The ears flapping behind, making it look even more ludicrous.
The owl,
He sit's atop a branch high up in a tree,
He's as quiet as a silent vowel,
Hidden in the shadowy stillness,
With eyes as wide as saucers,
He secretly spies what scampers below,
While in the distance wolves howl,
A mouse cautiously creeps through the grass,
When suddenly the owl swoops down,
In a shadowy haze of wind and breeze,
From his perch and captures the mouse,
HOOT!!! HOOT!!! HOOT!!! HOOT!!!,
The owl bellows as he flies away with his dinner,
Cat in the tree, searching for a rat
Dog on the ground barking at a bat
Deer in the meadow watching the site
Hunter in the hills aiming his sights
The bear in the cave was woken and awaiting to strike
Hunter pulls the trigger, as the bear goes for the kill
The dog turns to see the headless shooter
And the cat wanders off
The rat in the tree scampers in the other direction
The deer is fast asleep
While the bear is snacking
Nobody hears a peep.
Form:
Lurking circumspectly
Lest prey freely scampers
Labeled king of jungle
Labours for sweet triumph
Like soul-devourer*, who
Lies lifeless soon --- crushed by
Lord Saviour, God of love.
* 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.

piper’s heart is full of joy
he scampers the water with joy
the brook gurgles a woodland greeting
balmy light wind twinkles leaves
they frolic in a lively happy way
the day is light, the minnows are dashing
piper scoops up some cool water and takes a drink
his hands are cold now, but worth it
there is a cough. He knows what it means.
He searches, but the woods are a great concealer.
He smiles as he glimpses the tiny white tail
of the deer as she bounds over a thicket
