No greater shadow than ferns teeth
Sheltering the infant saplings underneath,
The same soil where strangling vines sleep
What the forest grows, also reaps
Spring’s budding, branching arbors,
saplings to sappy seniors,
are all stalwarts with ringed hearts
and life giving leaves.

a gnarled olive tree
surveyed the scene --
tender saplings soaring skyward
regal oaks basking in glory
majestic cedars 'midst the clouds
--under her breath
~ I’ll outlast you all
Rock-ribbed republicans
under
six sleek, slender saplings
fasten
red leather, yellow leather
onto
rubber baby-buggy bumpers.
(Say the long lines fast three times;
by now you know that nothing rhymes.)
in the inland garden,
luscious lavender hills,
dipped in flickering white,
scattered green dwarf saplings
sit and spy capricious
pink and white dance across
once and again vast field.

I
sudden gusts of Fall -
green heroes fall in twos, threes
yes, trees, and you, me
II
Notice the saplings sway
With the winds ways, unbroken
Resist and old limbs fall
Little saplings anxious to enjoy
Into the new world of poetic joy
desirous to spread fragrance of its bossoms
Let me grow.
water it with your encouragement
Nourish it with your optimistic commitment
Protect with your shade from diminshment
Let me grow.
Deep in the forest
Drooping saplings revive
A bird sings her majestic song
Butterflies dance in the tune
Woodland air makes the leaves
clap
Sun rays glow through the
branches
Tall trees – the spectators
Ah! live concert in the hills.
The Edge of Life
The Heron stands motionless
feathers mimicking the leaves
of slowly swaying saplings
its stoic Buddha pose
silent in its presence

writ in spattered blood evil intent
from youth's garden, saplings gone.
But staunchly rising from the killing floor
Liberty retakes the tricolour
strides a nation, marches on.

Worms rotate in a peculiar procession
As spring enters - the conquering gladiator.
Saplings play in the breeze.
Dogs smile at the sun while the wind breathes with sighing despondency.
Falling leviathan blossoms float to the ground from reoccurring trees.
Nature holds us all hostage in her warm embrace; green, urgent, and rampant.

Nature holds us all in her warm embrace, green, urgent, and rampant.
I feel like a star
cast amongst this ambiguousness
of sky
and I'm hanging on
to vacant air
as all the saplings
and gawkers
slurp on lattes
and wish upon my misery
alas, when one of those whims
chooses to make itself
come true,
I'll shoot like a meteor
into nothing
but a tittle of dust
flickering
in someone else's dream
The seeds of love I sow in my malachite meadow
Enthralled, they sprout with the emerald shine bright
Design the cradle of saplings for the rose buds to glow
Nascent sunburst sky paints my dulcet dawn of delight
Transfixes the dew diadem on jade grass in pearly show
Shaping my dreams where as an angel I see you alight
From a seed to tree
from the soil to me
green little leaves
saplings grow wild
the citrus smell
growing strong
roots deep into earth
breaking the surface
mother earths birth
be bare in winter
to fall in the fall
and green in the spring
bring summer shade
the fruits grow
tender shell
sweet smell
standing under my citrus tree. -TA
Soft showers fall and robins call.
The scent of grass is sweet.
Meadows green and saplings lean
in warmth of April’s breeze.
The skies are fair and in the air
the lilacs’ fragrance wafts.
Small buds first show, then quickly grow –
delighting bees and wasps!
May’s flowers beam and streamlets gleam
along the mountain slopes.
Colors sing and everything
is life and love and hope!
Mysterious forest,
looking so safe and comforting,
showing its flourishing green canopy
and outer saplings.
Within,
gnarled, decaying trees
litter the ground.
In the midst
of these dying woods
stands a tree older than age
with dead, mangled branches
protruding
from every knot hole.
Still
in the upper most layer
green life springs forth
like the life support
of a dying man.
10 days before Spring
comes the birds are already
furnituring their
~
last years homes those nest
nesting they left behind to
comeback and raise crests
~
another saplings
small group of sparrows robins
baby birds chirping
~
woven atop the
twigs intertwined and sewn in
winter springs new nest

Drenching the long scorched auburn meadow
New saplings sprout from the moistened soil
Spreading in delight gossamer emerald leaves

I see shimmering in my garden in just August.

Last leaves of the ancient maple, yellowed and frayed,
Fluttering and dancing silently in mellowed stillness,
Nose dived into the burnt sienna ground below,
To become fodder for the saplings of spring.
