Rainstorm batters trees
broken branches-scattered leaves
kitten sleeps by kitchen stove.
torrential rainstorm
sway slightly to paling side
a blooming flower

"The wilting leaf aches now for the drops that once caressed its waxy surface as
they slithered down in fury propelled by the rainstorm."
ragtag rainbows rush -
sun and rainstorm mingling -
white crane fantasies

A Nature Themed Haiku with Color Poetry Contest
The overkill of rainstorm
with threat of life and limb; trees
swivel, sway, dancing, falling
with wake of devastation rising.

morning plans cancelled
there will be no gardening
to wet too muddy
the ground rejoices
saved from tilling and hoeing
by summer's rainstorm
without rainstorm wilts
leaves of lantana shrivel
and the buds close up
I was told it’s the weather
uplift when grandson waters
under the umbrella of your love
counting the drops of life's rainstorm
9 lives and I would not tire of
visions of the rainbow that is you

rainstorm ushers in
final day of October
blustery winds of
catastrophic new season
fell leaves enshroud the damp earth

Blankets of rain
fall from the sky
I'm looking at my trees
through a waterfall
I cancelled everything
I'm not going anywhere
time to nap this rainstorm off

A
rainstorm

rainstorm whips meadows
trembling like faded, pale sheets
my breath wails with them
till a crack on soil appears...
awakening newborn grass
Astraphobia is alive and well
Thunder terrifies Mr. A.C. Bell
Lightning scares him sometimes too
A phobia that makes him blue
A full blown rainstorm to him is hell.
Sunlight and Rainstorms
Clear sunlight and rainstorms play games of tag
As bluebirds perch on rainbows

Enveloping me in a cloudburst,
my minacious blues held a funk.
Dribbles are now torrential,
a rainstorm in my brain.
Overactive mind,
l’m exhausted.
Let me go
right now
fears!

The
rainstorm
overnight
burst the shallow
dyke-
the
raging
river in
overflowing
flood
streamed
forth long
weeds plaited
now beneath the
spate.
dismal march rainstorm

Funnel clouds like hearts
The wind a passionate kiss
Sweeping them away
Rainstorm pouring down
Binds the lovers together
They are a rainbow
Pure as the sea
Two parts of one love
Can they swim forever?
Lily of the valley
Full Moon Rising
Primrose path
Parchment
Rainstorm golden sunflowers
Prance around the dance with the lilies

Written words by James Edward Lee Sr 2019
Clashing, flashing arrows; Bolts pierce the cotton ball clouds; thunder booms.
Another rainstorm visits and all lives, run for cover; in fear.
Old man, cloudburst, has a temper tantrum.
Brainstorm
faith’s open palms
vigilant in drought
sunburns brighter, moonshines boozy
grinning
Rainstorm
rustling the leaves
slurry stirred by lightning
overindulging town prayers
applause
The scent of earth after
a rainstorm
rests weightless in the
air swirling shiver around
my heart.
Kicking up leaves that
stick to my shoes
holding to.
Breathing the scent
of clean, pure
truth.
The
rainstorm
overnight
burst the shallow
dyke-
the
raging
river in
overflowing
flood
streamed
forth long
weeds plaited
now beneath the
spate.
