Chase
quicksilver
he chases the squirrel
into the icy field
snapping
branches trap him
until they break
keen
eyes on the chase
skimming over snowbanks
he wins...

Queen
Mercurial Freddie, quicksilver
he was-- beautiful enough
to give you pause. Who
is the fairest of them all? He
of the life size poster on
my bedroom wall....

Sifting slurry through my word sieve
occasional bright flashes give hope
but there is so much dross and the
yellow flakes in my quicksilver amalgam
may be naught but fool’s gold....

Bloodlust
Brand your name into my skin,
Stroke by stroke;
Friction.
Notify my next of kin.
I jump into quicksilver
To quench my eyes of fire
My heart's desire dies tonight
Sliced so thin it flows through streams of blood....

Paradox
All truth is quicksilver
Slipping through fingers.

The moment I speak
Is the same that I lie.

It is only when my tongue
Seeps deep down my throat,

Knowing though not telling,
That truth remains alive....

Quicksilver
There's an energy to us
 like quicksilver.
Moving on its own,
 flashing out brilliance.

Quick, through us, pulsing;
Belonging to the space it's in;
 The space we're in.

Brilliant flashes splashed against
our sore and tender souls....

Faux Pulchritude Idol
*nocturne eye flicker*
*bite lip*
*rip asunder*

Malediction of a tragedy fused elegy,
mirror of red rum and visage of chaos.

The truth is a labyrinth of mirrors,
I am the reflection that stares back,
real you tryst behind quicksilver....

Precious Metals
Quicksilver how fast is she,
   How far can she run.
   Mercury he likes to be,
   Rising with the sun.

   Platinum two lovers sing,
   Party times a blast.
   Liquid gold to wedding ring,
   Church bells ring at last.

Crafty Casanova Clown
Charisma
Character like fizzy soda
Charismatic bubbly citrus cobra
Slither like a quicksilver persona
Persuasive chanter of poetic chatter
He has the aroma of one who is
A chiseled chest square chin
Chilling mister chinchilla Casanova
And quite the master enigma...

Shiver
Just stand there and
let me drown in you.
Don't disappear like
 quicksilver.
Let me play you,
for you are the instrument
of my desire.
Let me touch you
and be touched by you,
until we both shiver
with anticipation.
Let me kiss you
lingering gently,
as though it were for
the last time.
And then,
let me
be with you....

Dewdrops in lush grass, liquid sunshine,
Iridescent shimmers, mountain to valley,
Reflecting the velvety emerald of spring,
From innumerable different fresh angles.
Quicksilver on the purple morning petals,
Or on blooms crimson, cream or apricot.
The glister has come, proclaiming softly,
Tiny universes that were somehow forgot!...

Night
Sunlight fades heralding the night.
Sounds etch the silent dark.
The hoot of an owl,
The bark of a fox.
The whisper of a passing breeze,
Leaves that rattle in the wind,
Grass bends to it's passing touch,
Rivers flow like quicksilver in the moonlight
Silence flows back to reign supreme,
Until the rising sun chases the night away....

Dolphin Dance
Frothy frolic in deepest blue.
Darting, dashing, quicksilver flashing.
Blue shadowed flight.

Aquatic ballet in gentle waves,
pirouettes, twirling, gentle swirling,
Dolphin’s diamond dance.

Diving down beneath dark depths,
dolphin’s speak in ocean’s deep.
Underwater symphonies.

Racing ships through salty spray,
abysmal tides, grey dolphin glides.
Graceful energy serene....

What Am I
I am as transient as, And no more enduring… Than the life and times of the smallest insect I am as gentle as the feathered kiss Of a capricious butterfly …So what am I?… As only shadows are want to know I come and go… With easy ebb and fluid flow As hard to contain As a handful of quicksilver I slip through fingers like moon’s mercury glow So just what am I …Does anyone know?…

Mementos
A grey movie playing with quicksilver moments create murals of memories. Strolling a beach arm in arm, did the wind blow away something ? Sands of time slipped beyond grasp, but never stopped. Wounds healed, scars never faded though.

mosaic pieces
love bathed in mist and shadow
hide your mementos

I watch moonbeams dance
Across the midnight skies
Your brown eyes are like
Quicksilver to me.

Your voice is like echoes
Piercing through my soul
On the wind floating by
I cannot contain myself
When I see you coming.

I see it there in your eyes
You will always love me
You will always be there
As long as I need you

As you lay me down to
To make sweet love to me
You take me places no one
Else ever could....

Silver Ribbons of Moon
eyes have become
resolute,
wandering the walls
and fixtures

roaming epoch,

hands that mercury envies
read the craters,
and each aperture glows

with sterling egress,

lips part as two half’s
of miracles,
and the first tide

rolled to birth,

as quicksilver lies with
the stars,
cannoned beauty falls

in silver ribbons,

writhing bound
and full this night,
eclipsed

in sheets of moon...

Purple shadows drift beneath the gray sky forge
Mists dipping into verdant valleys like quicksilver
Skimming the rapids where we hurtle downriver
Through seething whitewater of New River gorge
Hurtling toward narrow waters of the Gauley
'Neath the bridge to form the Kanawha mighty.

Marina and the Rumble
the Storm rages in your hair
made of sand and lovely gold dust,
crabs and camellia

surge on, delicate
you're born like this

the Storm rages over the contours
of your body suchlike swallow's
made of amber and pearliness
and quicksilver tinge

now surge on, delicate
you are the Maelström

the Storm rages through your
fingers like honeysuckle rods
and late at night
I'll be your mirror

so surge on, delicate
'cause you are the Maelström...

A dream for you ...
it spins in the mist of twilight
wending the Milky Way
borne of passions unrealized
and the gilded hems of imagination's veil
dripping from the moon like tears of quicksilver
meandering 'midst the starstreams of dusk and dawn
to daub the sky with gossamer lace
and the hallowed hopes ...
of heaven.

The Cost of Love
Quicksilver flashback
frantic frontal lobe attack
thru the looking glass I find
shattered pieces of your mind
start stopping
stop starting
close your eyes
your lips are parting
say the verbiage
write it read it
you don't want it
you may need it
older heroes cringe before you
somehow children can't ignore you
golden marbles rolling rolling
go home now your bell is tolling
lost and found you
found and lost you
never know what love will cost you....

Quacksalver
The quacksalver’s quicksilver cure--
slathering a salt salve or quaffing mercury--
might sound like quatsch, a bad wine
of qually quality, but remember a time
when faith aligned with alchemy,
before the querical became the enemy
of the clerical, the quisquous nature
of faith mirrored that viscous commodity;
when quiddities were not quisby oddities
and to quop and quob before mysteries
did not portend holy querimony
but recognition of the quintessence divine....

Quicksilver
darkness into darkness forms,
atoms swirl, congeal, and swarm,
the dark gets darker, blacker still,
folds in upon itself at will

a fluid, liquid, shifting shape,
a mass upon which shadows drape,
the black gets denser by degrees,
straining eyes attempt to see

deep, instinctive, primal fear
comprehends that evil's near,
slightly canine, haunches low,
it glides the way quicksilver flows

foundations cracked, beliefs erased,
just emptiness to take its place...
