Heart's Desire

To honour God* by His grace… That’s my heart’s humble desire While pleasing Him thru faith’s work Prodded by His might.
*1Peter 2:17 …. Fear God. Honour the king.

Love and Slaughter

Love and Slaughter

Sheep are by a goat while
cattle are like swine, prodded, yet
cattle go by hammer while
swine are by the hind leg hung
then swung about to spigot.
Quicker, infinitely cleaner, is
the hacksaw of sweet Susan’s laughter.

Brief Hospital Stay

i hate people in sterile places

its unnerving

to see them leached of colour,

needles in their skin

like punctured paper

And prodded by white coats , trying to find an answer

Can’t they see the problem?

fake flowers do nothing to lessen the paint of pale walls

sinking into her eyes

Self-Delusionment of Open-Mindedness

Hidden safe in my cozy shell, there is nothing to fear.
The world calls with it’s voice of adventure in the music of waves on sand and laughing
voices
I peek out, but
I am so timid, vulnerable, fragile--
Too scared of being poked and prodded
	burned and bustled—and so
Retreat into my barricade,
Held hostage by familiarity.

Tasty Hors D'Oeuvres

The cows, they lowed
   The sheep, they bleated
The pigs, they squealed
   Herded together tight, overheated

Squeezed into lines
   Individuality stripped
Indignity's design
   Poked, prodded, whipped

through airport corridors
  lines stretching forever
making tasty hors d'oeuvres
  for blue-uniformed beasts, however...

Storm Comes Goes

Clouds rock up vengeful
mouthing off - ranting, raging
spitting bolts willy-nilly
But tantrum passes,
temper abates with mutters
as clouds roll on by, in sky.

Clouds rubbed, get charged up
like people pricked and prodded
build up static energy,
till the threshold reached,
out pops the lightning flashing,
thunder banging and crashing.

Far Beneath

you
solar eclipse
bloody lips
& tongue;
body wrung
my eyes drip-
you lap up my
pain like a
hungry beast,
growling thru
gritted teeth.
love lies insulted
far beneath;
above me you strain,
heavy sheets of
rain- heart
beats harder,
drowning in the
pulsing body as
the bruise is
being prodded.
tickled, you delight
watching the night
swallow me whole.

Fool's Gold

Lured across the world were we,
to setting sun, ancient sea,
lured to pastures greener?

Wanderlust gripped the core of me,
to setting sun, and ancient sea.
Naiveté fueled, footloose; free,
lured to pastures greener?

Herded, prodded, poked,
primed-pumped,
gripped by fool's gold's glittering sump;
always searching never free;
to take a moments time for me.

Rainy Day Reflection

A new river
   rolls by prodded by
visionaries
Do you see them walking by
while the rainbow taught us to walk?
You
shouldn't
care
what your enemies - or even your friends think
Get over it! and keep on creating
It will keep you alive!
A famous poet I know of
ran a candy store for years
while writing ode, after ode, after ode
He is a good example for us all!

Not In Today

Sometimes I'm not in the day,
I'm neither there nor thither here,
Floating above the petty way,
We seem to move about in fear.

Pills prodded from empty tubes,
Whose empty shells fall too,
Beneath fallen capsules whose,
Corpses yet to prove.

Whether 'tis better to,
Open eyes consumed,
By neither light nor clue,
Partisan bemused.

Gates open,
Walk amongst:
Whether chosen,
Beyond us.

Ravenous

Swirling scuffling newspapers
Scrawling in civilized dirt
Alleyways devouring
Discarded stories of hurt
Sunken sorrel skin
Writhing in distended shame
Ingested figments of food
Decomposing depravity’s name
Corroded cans of compassion
Littering hunger pains
Kicked into comatose corners
Prodded by public domain
Flaccid fingers of despair
Folded to somehow convey
God if you can hear me
I haven’t eaten in ten days

Untitled

old dreams
new temptations
rage for a different life
tangle 'round one another

pulling against my shackles
wound up but not set free
poked prodded kept awake
by thornthoughts

fully tensed on tiptoe
eases the weight on my shoulders
but makes my legs shake

your eyes heatflash my direction
the hidden statements stumblefluster me
make me stormdark and dangerous

don't you see the pit we're playing by?

Stopped

Stopped in my tracks,
About to act,
They had no backs,
To brake the pact.

Out with living,
Within the shark,
They prodded giving,
And ripped the bark.

They shouldered guilt,
Fashioned disease,
Covered in silt,
They gave no release.

Indecent to dancer,
Productive to criminal,
They shook my chancer,
Into bilateral.

Never considerate,
Always conceited,
They live to abate,
The darkness bleated.

A Mother Cries Another Tear

A mother cries another tear
As her baby is poked
And prodded yet again.

A mother cries another tear
As she watches her grown
Daughter cry another tear.

A mother cries another tear
When the doctors
Walk in the room.

A mother cries another tear
When the out look
Is so gloom.

A mother cries another tear
For what has
Yet to happen.

A mother cries another tear
Knowing this infant
Is her gift from God.

Misunderstood

He fell into evil ways,
bit by bit
he became a poet,
one that goaded,
prodded and annoyed -
naturally,
he was both
beloved and hated.

“The gods made me do it,”
he often declared,
but when he grinned
a serpent’s tongue could be seen
slipping out
from his false teeth.

Secretly he craved the power
to seduce and beguile,
occasionally,
the gods let him have his way,
but not often,
and the devil kept on writing.

Waiting Room

Radical reliance on the ultimate unknown,
Only scarcely awake by its soft under-tone.
Lonely antiques; only now in demand,
Losing their value with each passing hand.
Peppered with sugar to prolong the pretence,
Examining a lifetime and its final expense.
Another slice of the mind to be prodded and poked,
The face of dilemma has now been revoked
Solitary silence in an elegant stance,
Chaotic clarity with one last glorious glance.

Tell Me About the Tough Guy Please

What makes him tough? She asked me.
I dared not say, for she is a rounder with glee.
Seriously, she prodded. Please give me an example.
Variety of anecdotes about this thug were more than ample.

However, she is my cousin, and she always goes after the bad.
This Tom is seriously not a nice guy, a thug, a thief and a cad.
I got invited to their wedding the sixteenth of July.
It surprised me although to this day, I have no idea why.

Thumbtack

Fettered to stationary slave drivers,
I was a young bull prodded
by the stinging, rusted tips
of your cheekbones.

I'm not worried.
Tomorrow I will escape.
I have found my avenue,
she's a far cry from you.

Words stitched together from
an addled haze
are nestled in a pouch
tucked below your face.

I'll just have to slip a hand
in there and take them back.
It's not clear what I'll gain,
but I'm sure of what you'll lack.

Hey Fiddle Fiddle

He fiddled
with his foreskin,
pulling the taunts over

The tip of his nose,
it still stung, from when
Gary Mother****in' Jackson
(a strapping lad who insisted
this should have been his middle
name, after taking up a pool
job one summer)

Had pushed him, rather
abruptly into the bushes,
and those branches

Feeling like hands, poked
and prodded into the depth's
of his skin and he'd walked

Through that day, red and
welty, like an overgrown zit.

Witches Woes

They circled her with flowers
They prodded her with knives
Because of unproved powers
Jealousy of their wives
Judged by every man
For doing nothing wrong
Stories tell the tale
Of every witches song
Children voiced the threat
A verbal open lie
The accused hadn’t a chance
Confess and simply die
Crushed and stoned
And sometimes burned
No proof for punishment
No lesson learned
A hopeless sad life
Their names carved in Stone
Ashes swept away
Where once hair and bone

Caged Animal

We started off with being/
A human stuck in a tiny box/
Like a caged animal/
Day by day, we lose our senses/
To be poked and prodded/
Day and night for amusement/
This is a game to them/
Looking into the cage/
To rile the beast within/
The expected become unexpected/
The situation becomes dire/
Crying in desperation/
Remember, it's a human being/
Locked away in isolation/
Treated like garbage/
No Gods hears the cries/
From within the walls/
Trapped like a caged animal/

Empty

Everyone wears the faces of a thousand facets of themselves
turning phrases to gestures to jokes
A different side for every face they see
Presenting themselves as a gift for the worthy only
Lately I can only see facetious smiles of fake cordiality
It's a cold breeze over colder waters
It's an abstract pain that only hurts when I'm surrounded and lonely
A sunburn whose fires simmer until prodded to life
Despite efforts and smiles and comments I am irrelevant
So here I remain
Empty
