Premium Member An Inquest
This morning's wind has piqued in earnest,

an inquest.

For, diaphanous at it's rest,

my arm hair can attest,

the sun has tired of her obligation,

to a mortal such as me.

Disguised as a horse,
Walked the rim of the track
Stepping onto the hippodrome
There was no turning back
Zeus, piqued by this folly
Turned proud steed into donkey
At the wire annoyed spectators
Might think him an ass?...

Premium Member Oh Meaty Peaks! a Pindaric Ode
Oh Meaty Peaks!
Oh meaty peaks adorn-ed on her lips,
Why do you cheeky mountains there exist?
You spoil the smooth mottled flip-flops,
Of canines' drooping moistened chops...
Oh spikes of flesh, you've piqued my interest!...

Limerick : Once Hillbilly Bumpkin came to town

Once Hillbilly Bumpkin came to town
Citizens mocked this no-make-up clown
She hitched ride on red bus
To Piqued-Silly-Circus
And there let drop (her) feathered eiderdown.

Peter's Party
Peter put up potted plants on paths and patted himself
Pasted posters on pitted parts where people paid to pee
Praised and panned , through pleas and plans, pots and pans he banned
Pipped at the post in poles and piqued, he put it all on press....

signal of approaching cataclysm?

this time it could break...

His soldier stood up – ramrod stiff
when he caught the first sensuous whiff
piqued his passion to plunder
scented cheese from down under
sweet downstairs aroma of Quiffe.

Urbane Disdain
URBANE DISDAIN

Rapier wit, persiflage and banter
In repartee, an eloquent out-flanker
Faced with insult, virulence and rancour
His response could not be ‘insoucianter’

When attacked or critiqued
He will not be piqued
Smooth as whisky antique:
These - his words cool and sleek

“You’ve a face like a snapper,
 Your sister’s a slapper,
Your mother is built like a tanker”

The Pill Box
I woke up early this morning
And didn’t know what day it was
Until I walked to the kitchen
And spotted my pill dispenser
Sitting on the oaken table
Placed there by my loving wife
Before my angel left for work;
Looking at the seven day-marked
Cells just piqued me at that moment:
To think at this phase of my life
A pill box was my calendar.
I looked at the empty cells marked
“S”, “M” and “T” and realized
This morning has to be Wednesday....

Premium Member Imagination Is Questioning the Muse
Living precariously through another side of herself
Muse parades her newest ideas into the writer's brain stem
But wait! There is nothing else up there. Does this seem right?
Body pops a pill, hoping to conjure up something.

What are we trying to prove here? Imagination asks.
Piqued that Imagination is trying to goal set, Muse thinks a bit.
Then runs flat out in the direction of fantasy land,
Hoping to get a glimpse of the coyotes before she soars off the cliff....

Impromptu
the spring peeper people
slowly shhhhhh as
dawn's curtain begins
lightly lighting the day's
stage

various birds word
greeting the new
not knowing the last
to chirp was to be
the stadivarius
cricket

amongst some thickets
rosening his bow
legged legs
resounding proudly to
take the last bow

in a feverish fit of some
sort of Paganinish fervor
even the sun was piqued
and took a peek for
at the melodic

peak as bowed wood
would do so
did he a
finale of
flames...
