behold, narcissistic self-beholder,
your self-made self perfection,
cracked mirror's reflection !
narcissus, the pond
across the surface ripples
disillusionment
dead in the water, floating
not so koi now, bloated carp
by gail
She
became
an echo
to another's
voice-
he,
in love
with himself
transformed by a
gaze.
Ekphrasis ECHO&NARCISSUS by Waterhouse
If Narcissus had just been a female
she would not have been infamous at all
Admiring her locks in clear water
she might have been anyone’s daughter
Ancient Greek Olympians competed nude
Half-naked Narcissus admired his image by a pond
Today's narcissists take selfies
~ with most of their clothing on
How Narcissus
Admiring his reflection
In the water
Must have felt,
Captivated by his own beauty.

marooned mind
my capricious creation
designs psychic lattice
morphs into innate Narcissus
nestled in introvert isolation
where I am me, aberrant recluse
I planted a daffodil today
To remind me of you
When it blooms in the spring,
It will show me the way
Away from your vanity~
Perhaps your mirror will crack at last!
fireproof ruby
on the humming horizon ,
outsail our venturesome
stillness prolonged .
fluttering gloriously
my narcissus !

"Wow! He's handsome", Narcissus would think
as he gazed at himself from the brink
Then he'd lean in to stare
at the lovely lad there
and that's how he'd wind up in the drink!
PLEASED TO MEET YOU
It’s nice to see you in the pool
The sight of your face makes me drool
You look quite delicious
My name is Narcissus.
Oh, it’s me, I do feel a fool
Elated rebirth of Spring
narcissus leaves salute sun
joys of nature have begun
faeries celebrating dance and sing.

Outside closed window
Narcissus slowly emerge
Unknown destiny
In marooned mind shaped in webbed design
the strands of psychic hues are patterned.
In its fold rainbow secrets lie
as captive of my own making,
turning into Narcissus in introvert insight,
where I’m with me as an aberrant recluse.
many daffodils
beautiful on windowsills
narcissus appeals
one yellow divine
single or double refine
purist flower mine
dainty and sublime
standing hours at a time
waving in their prime

Oh there within her shining gaze -
That wondrous, shimmering sea,
I found reflected in those depths ...
One unmatched stunner ... ME!
This did not place in the "Pithy Pome" Poetry Contest.
now behold, self-loving self-beholder
your self-seen self perfection
cracked mirror's reflection
but outside screams a pettifogging shrew
mad landlady curses you
your rent long overdue!
Wiggly squirmy fidgety Spring
The robin’s worms the crawling things.
A swarm of ladybugs on the wing.
Children fly on waiting swings.
Geese form squadrons in the air.
Narcissus bloom with scent fair.
And love finds a way to birth
to propagate the waiting earth.
my marihuana modified me
in humming faintness
through this catoptric polariscope ,
I extract misdirection
a narcissus could never negotiate
with nonvisual mockery
or serious stillness
will sag .
are you unalterable ?

some
look in
a mirror
see an unloved
child
some
like narcissus
stay in love
with a reflection
some
reflect
on life
and truth
it portends
some others
greet the
morning light
too many
others
cry at night
Baby buds in bloom
a good, cool drink from
sky-fountain is a
welcome refreshment
for newborn blossoms.

JONQUIL
You may know me as Jonquil
My cousins are daffodil and narcissus
A fringed cup surrounded by petals
Each combining white with yellow
The latter, a hue with my own name
And I’m perfumed, but they are not
Distinctive yet I shouldn’t be proud
As amaryllis, we are all still family
Let those failed lights
keep their starry darks,
no hidden treasures have
they –
gems who hoard
their sparks, as bushel
a-cap heaven’s dearest
light,
blessed with angel appearance
and nature
now in free mirror fall
kingdom sovereign pool of self
worships self-love, that’s all --
Freud sent vision rays
To the patient’s eyes,
Her smile scent broke
Thin shell of silence.
Why the lady proud
Sought a gloom’s veil,
Had her interest all
In none but to herself?
Narcissus smiled leaning
Upon the golden swing,
While lilies bloomed
In the forest pond.
Cupid’s arrows too
Could not break the thrall.
Assorted spring flowers, naked, rise in morning sun
Breaking through a thin blanket of snow, earth spun.
Cascades of dainty narcissus smile with golden faces
Drinking up the sun as morning warmth embraces.
