Premium Member Chair In a Shadowed Room

he instructed me

as I fed or groomed the horse

but now his chair sits empty

no audience now....

   but I remember talking

mixed with neighs and his laughter

Chewy Food

An apprentice cook called Steph,
Was instructed by the gourmet head chef,
        Always take the glad-wrap off
          Before you cook the stuff,
But unfortunately she was quite deaf.

Premium Member She Was In Shock

she heard the ambulance coming
the sound was surreal
she was in shock
still trying to figure out what had happened
body in the car was hanging back in its seat
mouth wide open
she did not know her teeth were this ugly
close your mouth! she instructed her corpse

Breathe Through It

A young woman had a panic attack
A side effect of British Railways
My wife and I went to her aid
But I struggled to avert my gaze
From her heaving chesticles
“Big breaths” my wife instructed her
I was still staring at her puppies, said
“No, but beautifully pert would be fare”

You've got an important task, so understand, it's totally mandatory and a firm demand. Before leaving check every nook, each hidden space. Beneath seats for little feet or a smiling face. You've been instructed now, so take utmost care, parents depend on us, so always be aware.

Humbling and Exalting: Honoring Joe Demino

Joe DeMino has biblical insight that is Holy Spirit instructed. I am impressed, intrigued, and encouraged by our Elder in the USA and here on Poetry Soup (PS).

I quote Jesus, from Matthew's Gospel (Matthew 23:12, also Luke 14:11)

"For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted."

Why

Why was I given a voice,
When I was told to be quiet?
Why was I given ears,
When I was commanded to not hear?
Why was I given eyes,
When I was ordered to not see?
Why was I given skin,
When I was instructed to not feel?
Why was I given a soul,
When I was directed to not live?

Premium Member No One Taught Me How To Fall In Love

No one taught me
how to fall in love

It was something
I had to experience

on my own.
Picked up

from scraps of life
with it's happenings

that did not train me
for this event.

They instructed me
in all other

aspects of existence
but never once

touched upon
the intricacies of love

I was blind,
thrown out

into the jungle
of emotions

with all of it's
happiness and pain.

Stay Love

Stay Love

I was instructed too much
and one day
the sky divided
into new worlds
created
from the imagination
of my own unlimited
dreams

I made my way through
the emptiness
of these unfound pages
whispering
songs of life
to early morning
waiting
for evening to die
I slept alone
in cold rooms
reading the history
of broken records
my mind danced
to fragrant afternoons
and twilight
searched the rooms
without me.

Surrogate

she was giving birth, a surrogate mother, to a rich childless couple. she had been instructed to not look at the baby, did and relented, she had given birth
a wonderful newborn how could she give it away?
sensible people told her it was for the best, the child would get a good education, she the mother could not give her.
Under pressure by the righteous, she gave the baby away
but she will forever regret her decision.

Premium Member Vastness

Those for which we bled and await enmity. To devote oneself to for the rest of eternity. It is to fly on the interwoven wings of vastness. Consider a world that is not fit for intactness. Efficiently befall a prone person to grief spun. Merely entering the sanctuary of the lengthy run. Featuring sparkling rhinestone conscience. We've been instructed to be convinced once.

Miracle River

The Jordan River in Israel is remembered;
As the river where miracles occurred.
Joshua lead by God almighty was instructed;
To put the ark of the covenant in the Jordan
River, where an awesome miracle happened.
Later, John the Baptist was instructed by the lord,
To baptise Jesus Christ with water from the Jordan.
The spirit of God came upon Jesus Christ;
Revealing the greatest sign from heaven
as a holy dove while in the Jordan.

Premium Member I Am Going To Make You Look Natural

Her son the photographer wanted his mother to look natural
Do not dress up! He instructed her.
I want you in your pajamas.
She always dresses up.
She was not excited about it.

Here, he said, handing her a bouquet of lavender.
She did not even like the smell of lavender.
I am going to make you look super natural, he said.
He had a cheesy smile.
She was a girly woman who liked wearing dresses and jewelry.
Nothing natural about this, she thought.

Big Daddy

Big Daddy!
Take my hand and guide me through every storm
Let not plagues and disaster be my every day norm
Show me beauty and a place were I can hide and belong
So I can glorify, worship and recite new songs
That will remain in the hearts of men very long
Let every verse that I am instructed to write
Be sentimental and strong to break barriers
And destroy strongholds that causes men to do wrong
Big Daddy!
I am willing to accept and receive your new song.

Unknowing

Be confounded.
Raise a thousand doubts,
trust not words
or the light of the moon –
it has none.
Be troubled,
your safety lies in
utter bewilderment.

A learn-ed parrot
once instructed a Robin Red Breast,
the robin cocked its head
befuddled by the echoic redundancy
of the parrots lecture.
Which bird was wiser?
A donkey carrying a load of books
is still a donkey.

Claim your right to be wonderstruck,
unknowing, puzzled -
adore in endless amazement.

Premium Member Mistress of Darkness

Eva Braun was a flexible kid,
Athletic, and puppy love loyal.
She played in the background, kept pampered and fed.
Frau Goebbels instructed her morals.

Eva Braun war ein sehr hübsches Mädchen
Who basked in the light of her Fuhrer.
She lapped up the Kool Ade and swallowed her guilt;
Never spoke to a Nuremburg juror.

Eva Braun was a practical girl
Who knew how to butter her schnitzel.
She silently offered her cyanide vows
While her bridegroom was kissing his pistol.

Premium Member A Dog Shares His Perspective

as my dog and i were on a walk
he said
we have to have a talk
about the way we are constructed
it was then
that he instructed
when you say
top to bottom
about things that we've both got 'em
what you mean is front to back
i'll admit
i was taken aback.
he said
just as night follows day
when you open your mouth
to say
back to front
in a kind of flip-flop
what you mean
is
bottom to top
he barked i believe our walk's complete
can i now have my doggy treat

Loveliness

Longing to see you again and again
Only the hope of you seeing those eyes
Vivid memory's of being with you
Everybody else knows what I desire , however
Living my life without seeing your smile
Isn't an option I can abide
Nothing compares to being by your side
Even the thought of you makes me weak at the knees
Seldom as love, brought me to my knees
Seeing you so soon will be just like a dream.

Premium Member More Green and the Blackest Ebony

the Egyptian queen's eye make-up had to be perfect
she instructed her face painter to make it extra green
and the blackest ebony you can imagine she instructed him
the harried creator had to add more lead and more copper
each time he thought it was right she shot him down
More green, more black, and she frowned at his efforts
No one was more difficult to please than Cleopatra
He did not realize she was planning her death day.
And wanted her corpse to look a certain gorgeous way

Taking Life

As cold as this gun in my hands, And just as hard as the steel, Though by Holy commands, I am instructed never to kill. A war rages within me, A battle of darkness and of light, Uncle Sam's soldier in the Army, Asking me to fight. Take life as instructed, Receive orders and do what I'm told, Sending souls to the Heavens, Hoping I can make it home. Is it just an illusion? A lie my mind speaks to me? Or will I receive His blessing, And be taken into his arms eternally?

Red Ants At Lowll Ponds

As I stroll down this trail
on such a refreshing day,
taking heed of where I step,
so many red ants working together.

Transporting eggs and
food to their homes,
under these hills so
colossal and majestic.

Nature has instructed them,
of what they must do, before
       fall is here,
and cold winds come their way.

Such energy they all have,
and doing a fine job,
will depart from them,
so they can finish what must be done,
goodbye, until another fine day.

IT’S YOUR NAME

With nothing, I pride myself as Olakunle,
Who makes moves,
Overcome challenges and kore Dele.

Truly, Oluwanifemi
Even death whispers; Ikukoyi.

The future is secured, for the gods have Tiresimi
And instructed the angels to Mayowa
Ki oro mi le Dayo.

The heavens smile upon us;
We are established
And Ayo wa Tobi.

Oh; let’s enjoy our companionship
By neglecting our differences and Dolapo.

Life is full of mysteries and surprises
But we shall Durojaiye and Jokotola.
