Strangers

Willow tree leaning, hunched
Weeping leaves into steams skipping
Over stones and decaying twigs.

Ships that pass unseeing
In the shade.

Untouchables

In this poor life we’ve been condemned to die,
Forever stuck in our unwanted caste;
Pawns, broken by society,
Hunched at the pyramid's base we lie;
We are the untouchables of mankind.

For Man Nor Beast

…for man nor beast

Cold rain on opaque darkness
swirls around the outline of a man
hunched against the biting wind
led on by tug of agitated dog.

Let's Talk Turtle

Brave little turtle,
Crossing the road.
Dodging traffic,
Shelling the load.

Slow and steady,
Forever hunched.
Always praying,
Never crunched.

The price of life,
Yes, you've paid it.
Now safe across,
Hurray! You made it.

Lede Buried, in I Fell

Listen to poem:
I bowed for the story line.
Hunched over in suspense,
I hung-out for the punch line.
The twists of plot
lured me to the edge.
I could see the lede
lying buried below me.
Reaching in to grab it,
I toppled over, fell right in,
and became the story line.

Pain

One leaf curled and hunched
hesitatingly crawls up the centre
of the sun lit country road.
The rest cling to the tarmac
watching.

I look at this world as it is
and see what could be
and once again utter
words uselessly.
conscience
....... driven

Unlocking the Keys

An old manual typewriter
sits on a hill of dust.

Is that hunched ghost
your wordless self?

Does that self
with its thick fingers
still hammer out a silence,
upon a borderless page,

one that you now interpret,
adding thin strips of madness
on a skin of light?

Winter Quintain

Across the Heath the chill'ed land’s in sleep
The Bushes hunched, the bare trees holding still
In cyclic pattern: seasons’ lives bespeak
Not grip of death but life's farseeing will
That shall revive and Nature’s wish fulfil

Crowvember

blowing frost on a star and gravestone
quickening our steps like Charlie Chaplain
turning maple leaf into rubies and gold
churning flocks into wind splashed shoals
now we're hunched over like Quasimodo
the homeless sinking deeper into their hole
November struts about and barks like a crow.

It's Ironic That It's Called the Throne

bowed before you once again
i’m worshipping you
when i said i wouldn’t

bent in half
i’m surrendering both my dinner
and my fears

knelt down before you
my legs tremble
my hands and chin drip

hunched over you
i am obedient
under your tyrannical rules

there will be no revolution today

Spring will devour the wind

A cold wind challenged Spring
Watering my eyes as I hunched against it
Hawks circle beneath white puff clouds
A squirrel weighs its options
Robins wrestle chilled worm sushi
Nervous Mallards pace awaiting delivery
Jonquils boldly strut their stuff
I shiver knowing that spring will devour the wind.

Toxic State

TOXIC STATE

hunched, amidst creative ash:

H.D.’s sulphuric shell -

pieces of a deranged puzzle.

all the president’s men

scratch their hairless heads.

they had thought to build a wall -

but no one in town owns a brick.

Wolf

He loved the black tree shadows of the black forest
Smell of decaying leaves and burning campfires guided him.
Autumn fire showing prevalent blue orange contrast
He hunched down, watching the humans until he slept
His mate’s howls were enthusiastic and appreciative
He incorporated them into his dream state.

Staring
Daring

She winked
I blinked

Staring
Erring

Undressed
I’m blessed

Amazed
I gazed

Caressed
Her breast

She punched
I hunched

Transit

I sit upon a slickly red covered seat,
Across; closed eyes, computer gazing, blank faces.
Red squared environmental bags,
back packs on hunched-back backs.

A distance traveled on my cushions,
has come to a halt,
doors mouths opening,
waiting for my entrance ---
I stand sneaking quick peaks at absent faces....

Summer Ended Sighs

6:23 PM
Clock ticks ticks ticking
Hunched back and sprawled all over
I get this feeling
Fingers taps taps clicking
Pen taps in repetition
I hate this feeling
I stared at the calendar
And scorned at the squeaking birds outside
As well as the date presented
Circled in bold red
With the words
"Time's up!"

Stress

I’m sick.
I’ve been sick.
Sick for days,
For months,
For years.

I’m tired,
And lethargic.
My eyes are weary.
I have a permanently hunched back, now.

The aching,
The spasming.
The fevers,
The shivers.
It’s a never-ending cycle.

And it’s all self-imposed.
Because,
I perform best
When I’m stressed.

Looking Down

The cats
were so used to
looking up. They
hunched on their bellies
.
like hairy doormats
and their eyes turned
like those of animated
bedrom slippers.
.
So high I stood,
all of my 5 foot 3.
Feeling the pain
of back cramps, I
.
bend to feed them,
wild animals
somehow brought servile
into my tenderness.

Monkey Moves

Standing in place
Working to wean
Eyes playing tricks
Seeing unseen

Shoulders hunched
Head in the lead
Moving the pieces
To serve a bleed

Toys to others
Pawns to Kings
Benefiting widely
Authority brings

Final trump
Blown and heard
TRUTH applied
Lesson learned

Predator

He prowls on quiet paws
in the cold – dark night.
His nose bent low to sniff
the scent of the prey.
Hunched crunched to the ground,
ready to pounce at the slightest sound,
his beady fathomless eyes
glitter in the thick darkness;
searching—always searching!
First a low groan deep in his throat,
then a feeble moan…
the prey is held.

The Cat Had a Hunch

The cat had a hunch and she got her wish
She hunched her back and jumped on a side dish
                                             The dish had to diffuse
And he croaked out the news
                                "Cat,You're a bit odd; sort of a ***** fish."

painful and hunched with bright loads ~

What Else Had I Missed

Wizened chin
Hunched shoulders
His walk is slow
Ambling really

Zombie movements
Erratic
Not graceful
Boots must hurt

Older now
Ten years
Has made a significant
Difference

I did not realize
While I was gone
How much this would
Affect him

Nothing had ever
Changed him this
Much before.
Guilt set in.

What else had I missed?
