Pain

One leaf curled and hunched 
hesitatingly crawls up the centre 
of the sun lit country road. 
The rest cling to the tarmac 
watching. 

I look at this world as it is 
and see what could be 
and once again utter 
words uselessly. 
conscience 
....... driven
