as in a distant dream,
we recall that our sojourn
through life in this our world
is but a belated homecoming
after our faintly-remembered exile,
following our half-forgotten
pilgrimage.
Winter kisses the doorstep
with a quiet smile in icy depths;
branches bow low, as if nodding my return,
while frost tiptoes on the windows.
Smoke curls like an embrace—
I breathe it in: warm welcome Home .

making niece so scared
even my best friend
said I was bad
making me sad
now times have changed
new family
with new friends

suns warm today
light breeze
I see it there
in the trees
rock the cradle
guide the ill
hand on hand
hand to hold
sleep within
sleep without
dinner cooking
no - no shout
humming house
now just waiting
until I see you
come home.

Snow falls
Home calls
Long road
Time flowed
Hearts yearn
Eyes burn
Mom waits
Wide gates
Tired steps
Sun wanes
At dusk
Dogs bark
Lights on
Till dawn
Promise
Kept ties
New morn
Souls torn
Brief meet
Last leaf
Cottage door open
A blooming path welcomes you
back home once again
Hollyhocks have been calling
with the scents of the roses
Warm nights are mellow
and bluebirds fly at the moon
Your letter brought joy
saying you'd be coming soon
Yellow cottage awaits you
I was a joke in their slam books
Until a new wardrobe changed my looks
The cool kids called me “pretty ugly”
Now I’m Homecoming royalty
I was a nerd in the eighth grade
Now I’m the it girl in a parade
Waving to the whole neighborhood
Triumph boiling in my blood
THE HOMECOMING
For the first time
I’m in the space where I need to be.
Whatever I look at,
Is just as I always imagined it could be.
Now I see all as it was meant to be.
Wherever I go, I know that, in this open space, of my mind
At last, I have finally come home.
