Serene Night
Serene Night

Rolling in the gloom
Of my sleazy room
Blinking in the dark
Without a spark...
All BEINGS in repose
Save for their nose;
Like famished fleas,
I grope for ideas!!...

The Light House

Terraced light
Holding bright
Effervescence behold
Long lost
Intrepid sailors
Grope for
Halo's beacons
Teaming ships
Home alone
On sentry's
Unrelenting watch
Skippers bastions
Emitting guidance

Sacred Secrets
we grope for understanding in our ignorance,

     for strength in our weakness,

            for courage in our fear,

                  for oneness of our dreams,

for sweet, sacred secrets said and shared by us,

     secrets that are truly yours

            and mine, in these moments

                  that are truly ours, Love....

In-Dwelt
The apartment leaks footsteps,
it’s hard to avoid their featherweight padding.

Fabric and pith teach
walls how to speak;
fragmented recordings
that always threaten to utter
something intelligible.

Ears question,
closed eyes grope for answers.

They abide --- the indwellers,

they nightly rearrange,
whatever you thought was yours
as you daydream of being real....

After the Assault
The hurt of a game.
Myth has played with the-
life of a song bird.

A dream becomes opaque.
You cannot find any-
image of blood.

A window shuts-
the moon. The rainbow will
grope for a sky.

And I must find
some excuse to live. The nascent
hope outleaps the black-

rain falling on eyes. Panic
grips poppies. They throw up the
color, the fresh dawn.

Groc the Grook
Come children all - and gather round, I’ll read to you from my old book, which once was lost, but now is found. It tells a tale of ‘Groc the Grook’. “Now Groc was keen to grundle round, but sadly Groc was not so bright, for when he grundled underground, they’d grindle him - at dead of night. No need for them to grope for clues, they heard him - in his greaky shoes!” ~

On My Way Home
When day is done and night draws near
I'll stumble out to greet the waning light

I'll grope for keys to start the old wheels turning
   And head for home again

Thought the time is short, the drive is long
And all seems in a haze

My mind turns back the pages now
As alone I start to think

Of days gone by that still remain
   So deep inside of me

Days that filled my soul and more
So bright the light that shined

But all is past and drive I must
   On my way home again...
