Graduation Day
At last, their big day.
Gowned, smiling, hopeful and proud.

Trump Nude Under Gown
Trump Nude Under Gown
Rows of graduates were looking down;
Seems like they were wearing a frown;
Good at speaking;
Not loser seeking;
Guess what! Trump is nude under his gown.

Empty Promises
Nigerian graduates,
Suffering because of unemployment,
believing in government’s empty promises.
A meaningless hope on a janus-faced entity
governing sadistically.

Like a Bevy of Swallows
Like a bevy of swallows released from a fountain
the pageantry of a balloon race set in the mountains
A throng of graduates hurling blue caps in the air
~ so, too, passion's first kiss in a fairy-tale affair...

Quantum Link
Anxious angst acquires accelerated aging
Mindfully meditating master’s molecular malevolence
Dispelling disease dysfunction
Chronically contaminating critical
Thinker thoughts thunderously
Eroding energy engulfing
Harmonious human happiness
Only original opulent oneness
Graduates getting genuine genius gifts......

Molly Is Graduating
I am leaving work today at one.
To meet granddaughter and have some fun.
We will shop and eat and act so danged young!
I sing from a rooftop using my biggest lung.
Molly graduates on Saturday.
Starting a new life to live her very own way.
This may be her grandma’s last chance
To frolic, laugh, listen, whistle, play and dance....

Join the United States Air Force
To put your young lives on a good course,
join the United States Air Force.
Recent high school graduates learn responsibility.
At the same time, they are helping their country.
You will work with the latest technology.
You will gain experience that looks good on a resume.
Anywhere “Old Glory” proudly waves unfurled,
men and women serve all over the world.

On the Threshold
All graduates feel
they have arrived.
They’re tossing caps,
exchanging high-fives;
walking with pride,
experiencing release,
a sense of accomplishment
and a measure of peace.
Excitement takes over,
anticipation sets in,
wondering about tomorrow
and work to begin.
Life looms on the
horizon, straight ahead.
What seems to be finished,
just beginning instead....

I'M Not
I'm not on to intimidate
Like to communicate
And will not hesitate
To always motivate
And to dedicate
Of course associate
One whom graduates
I don't navigate
To try to rotate
Or try to retaliate
And then speculate
Or try to manipulate
To always aggravate
That would frustrate
Then have to translate
What I don't want to communicate.

Life Goes Around
The baby wears diapers
A 3-year-old thinks they are funny
A frustrated potty-training mommy
A grandmother laughs
The baby grows up
She is driving a car
The parents are not ready
The grandmother laughs
The baby graduates from college
She has a diploma
The parents are proud
Grandma waits for a photo
The baby gets married
The baby raises a family
Her parents are taking care of grandma
Grandma wears diapers
Grandma laughs...

Five Thousand of Us
August 1996
Five thousand graduates
Rosemont Horizon Convention Center
Chicago Illinois
We were identical from a distance
Five thousand of us in black robes
With faces too small to decipher
I saw my family
Without hesitation I stood and made a giant leap
Standing on my chair. Waving my hat.
There’s MOM! Two of my children said.
Never been more proud
Sixty five others jumped on their chairs
But it was too late.
Poor them....

College Graduation
Watched the graduation
Of my nephew via Zoom,
Along with many others
From afar, I would assume.
Heard the speeches, saw the march
Of students, one by one
And stuck with it until
The final exit walk was done.
How cool it was to witness
All the graduates receive
A fresh diploma filled with pride
And hope they must believe
Will help them find their path in life.
Whatever lies ahead,
At least they’ll have the memory
Of when their names were read.

Love In a Dirty Room
They wanted to make love in the room
But they’d not impressed it with a broom
Real filth if cameras start zooming,
For hygiene the pair needed grooming.
When things explode it shall be a “Boom!
Lovers’ image to go down: sure doom…
Clean University Graduates, whom
Their degrees fitted all but a tomb,
In the room germs to start mush rooming;
When they’re infected, start fuming…
Not anybody’s guess: odds shall loom;
Everything might, straight, end in her womb!...

Crazy World
Crazy World
It’s funny how
The universities are still in business
Of producing graduates
That speak funny English
And hardly make invention
And the stock market falls
Down street tumbles
That lets people buy
And make profit
Like grandpa used to say,
True intellectualism died
In the year 1929
With the rise in acumen inflation
It was then that
This Federal Reserve of Ignorance
The true villain of this quandary
Traces its genesis
Hope that explains succinct
This universal impotence...

Miracle Man
5/5/2024
Your unknown future,
lies directly ahead.
From vacated nest,
to now earning your bread.
life is now a ladder,
you’ll start to climb.
Every chance to excel,
should become your showtime.
Your experience starts you,
at the very bottom rung.
Most days become routine,
another song verse to be sung.
Always moving upward,
is the name of life’s game.
You cant climb a ladder,
with both hands gripping the same.
