(but I know she’s there.)

I can’t see you, either....

                                      Great waxing gibbous
                                  Pressing forward toward a full

On Independence Day at dusk, the sky I’ll view.
The waxing gibbous moon will be a joy to see.
Then I’ll be thrilled by fireworks of red, white, and blue,
reminding me of where I am and why I’m free.

Of midnight
Blue butterflies
Upward dance, to reach
For the gibbous face moon
Exhilarating pleasure
Giving way to just one flutter
A zephyr breath within its shadow
For spiritual outstretched golden streak...

Gibbous moon pale bright
Peeks horizon in twilight
As it orbits around earth
And sprinkles its dust
To bless us in reunion
Under glorious full moon.

Waves
waxing gibbous light
and crashing surge collect us—
the moon moves the tides

pause in wave-action
you, me, equilibrium—
the moon moves the tides

receding sands run
seaward, erasing footsteps—
the moon moves the tides...

Almond Blossom Moon
In this blue hour between branches
The waxing gibbous moon
Hangs like an almond blossom petal
Gleaming bright at noon

And the little tree that wreaths it
So breathtakingly blooms
That I’m inclined to float away
With this almond blossom moon....

The Gibbous Moon
Tonight the gibbous moon shined bright
Like catharsis for my infinite thoughts

Touched by natural chords, he
Called me above dark treetops
Amid cerulean skies.
As if, I belong with them, among myriad and myriad of stars,
He drew me closer, ever nearer...

Beneath the Gibbous Moon
virtue squandered
beneath the gibbous moon
the feign of innocence
a burden to bear

daring to imply guilt
the jealous called me out
bothersome adolescence
who will miss you

I rest upon my shovel
bothersome burden buried
angelic virtue restored
beneath the gibbous moon...

Grog
Grog

Gulping down a flagon

Gives one a gibbous glow.

Gather 'round ye hardies,

Grab one and have a go.

Ghostly foam and farting

Gnomes bilge one gushing flow.

Garish gaffe...drinking Grog!

Premium Member Hello, June Moon
'Tis nightfall, and a pack of wolves
Harmoniously howl in the far distance.
Oh, look! How glorious the view
Of the lonely gibbous moon,
Suspended high above the woods;
Glowing in the inky starless June sky!

The day after Christmas is always a little
anticlimactic the gifts opened – the wrappings
and ribbons all tidied, although a few gifts
may arrive late and our Boxing Day guests
may add a few.

But we're past the solstice,
days will slowly get longer
and the moon rising over
the valley’s leafless trees
was a bit over half-full
– kinda like my mood.

The pre-gibbous moon
looked on
as five flying geese
in pattern formation
quietly fluttered by...
streaking across the sky;

Landscaping shadows
of stoic poised trees
reflect their presence
as the chilled air teases
goosebumps with its own;

The serene night
in its ebony majesty,
slowly descends
upon the surreal scene;
capturing a photo negative
through nature's shutter....

Now I See You, As the Blue Moon
Now I see you full, my love
As the moon, the Blue moon,
I thought, I did see you;
It was the moon, the Gibbous moon.
You smiled, for me, when you were
The moon, the Crescent moon,
With your pain, on your dark,
You laughed, for me, when you were
The moon, the Half moon,
But now I know, that I saw,
Only the moon, the dark moon,
And thought it, to be,
The moon, the full moon.

As the stars twinkled gaily in the sky,
they could only laugh -
They watched the moon through all its phases,
crescent, quarter, gibbous, full, and half.

But as she cycled through her lunar changes,
grieving for all love untrue,
the stars sadly noticed that
the moon was always blue.

So, they charmed a gentle nightingale,
"Please sing your pretty tune",
and "the stars beckoned her song
to reach the crescent moon."  ...

The gibbous moon between its full and new stage
Seeing in the sky on a clear night
As bright as it is part is seen and part is not
Like a hunched back camel in an Arabian sea of sand
Fan by the spacious wind it gleams from the shine of the Sun
Forcing itself obtrusive outward
Transmitting brightness to the whole world
Like the Son of God who shines for all to see
Accepting His brilliant light
Which come to all both day and night...

June night…
Gibbous moonlight…
My inner pearl shining bright;

Dwarfed under reflection,
Yet un-shadowed—beaming…
Waiting her coming resurrection
Above the lunar mirrored gleaming.

Passing strange is her journey…
A June timed sojourn to destiny,
Teasing the moon’s cosmic majesty;

Tonight, we conquer the abyss between us:
Space, stars, satellites, or any other celestial stuff;
Nothing can keep me from the pearly glow of Venus....

WAXING GIBBOUS
Sitting in my writing chair
illuminated by a single candle
and light from a waxing gibbous moon
penetrating my office window.

This would work for an hour or so
until the earths rotation
required my own rotation.
Light enough to pen a few more lines.

I contemplated
how much light
was truly needed to do
the work I wanted to do…

I prefer natural light,
the candle being my only give,
until I grab the nearest flashlight
to make my way to bed....

All I Want Is You
Night holds my attention a gibbous moon sits over her shoulder and I'm in awe first glances float as hearts flutter drifting off amongst distant stars fingers twine unwrap then pine for soft kisses seduced and bartered romantic banter slips and we fall carried off to the bedroom where more than promises whisper caressed, rhythms beat words cascade within every touch knowing all I want is you
