Can you hear
     the silent sound
Of quarter-notes
     upon the ground
Felled in music's 
     last retreat
                   Of rythmic genres lost?

Sequenced up
     and down the scale
They went unnoticed 
     when they fell
With one last 
     crescendo sweet!
                   A whole note claimed the cost.
