Lilacs
French lilacs outside my window curse en francais
for the air is too cold and the sky is too grey
and they are unable to wear their pretty frocks
of which they have been sewing frantically to
be in time for the opening of the May fashion show.....

Woke Up French
I woke up this morning
Sporting a Beret
Speaking in a French accent
Parlez-vous francais?

With a scarf around my neck
A pencil thin moustache
Afraid I might have woke up French
A slight giggle to my laugh

With a strong urge for fresh Baguette's
I head to the grocery
I told my cat that I'd be back
He looked at me... Cest la vie...

La Tour Des Baleines

In Misses Halliday’s community,
A lighthouse steadily illuminates
That coastal location. Containerships
Can safely navigate. Supertankers
Can avoid incidents. Superliners
Can protect passengers unfailingly.
This noble edifice, designated,
(From francais translated): “Tower-Of-Whales”.

Being Active
In my room with its broken door
is a vast array of U3A nomenclature
Admitting ones age is a drag
A vast collection of antique SLR'S stands
Just needing the servicing of fandango light
Use it or lose it, the idiom goes

A coach trip awaits
were I could make a friend
to share my interests
like J'aime Francais
and Lloyds Park walks
almost being half a centurion Croydonite...

From Your Fiancé
I found your letters yesterday—
Eighteen years ago.
You wisely wrote from Paris in francais
Without the pride, without the show.

I’m glad to note, I feel no more,
Reading you anew
Except to marvel how your closing door
Was shut so softly. Subtle you.

The tactfulness in every line
Missed me way back then.
Your dignity indelibly divine…
Thanks come slow from certain men....

London today
Into the lead spin
broken bottles and knives appear
locked by electric sparks
that bring you back to life
over the once warren where rabbits roamed
we go shoplifting in London so fare
The Police turn a blind eye
Its maud parlez vous Francais
Into the dark where English is not heard
London spins
the serpents of the Thames are half lionized
Who needs excuses
into the grim
where the exposed suburbs are sullied

Draw the Fire
Since the power of essence, drawing upon the bud.
Cigarette powder, a drawing of ash from fire.
We live to do, to see, to hear.
Spinning in circles, hence, we jump and live.
The stage of stages, the power of the powers.
Hence, the jump, jump-all-round
Essences of Jumping - Hence, all-round, all-here.
When the Francois of Francais is here.
All-round, the smell of success.
Glitter of the butterfly, to a glimmer.
When the sub-zero temperature, glimmer....

Premium Member Back in My Homeland
Like a man possessed we fight
     'neath cool exteriors
a raging fire burns, day and night

   We have nowhere to turn
     no matter how we yearn
to parlez vous francais or habla ingles

   Never quite accepted
     by the whole world rejected
    All our efforts reproved
     ever on the move ...

   I squirm and fidget
'cos I never quite fit in
   Now, back in Israel
     with God I dwell

I know who and what I am
     back in my homeland...
