The town seemed out of sight
Covered by a blanket so thick
Buildings unable to pick
Appearing as fog so white
Vision ahead very slight
An eeriness seemed to loom
The only light from the moon
Unable with others to communicate
The night was able to manipulate
Waiting for the first morning light
Completing such a mysterious night....

I’d started walking hours ago,
Content with strolling in the snow.
The woods fell dark and, lost, I found
The eeriness of snow white  ground.
And then I heard a fearsome howl;
I felt a presence, heard a growl.
I didn’t know which way to turn,
And what was there, I daren’t learn.
I ran and heard the heavy feet
Of something wild, not nice to meet.
I tripped and fell and cried in fear,
I smelt its breath, knew death was near…

In Italy, I walked along Pompeii:
an eeriness exudes each house and street 
(although those crumbling structures had been fine,
lived in and loved by those who'd died that day);
the ground still trodden by so many feet...
like mine.
I wondered, 'Is it right to visit here,
to peer in places where they'd sleep and dine?'
The people felt so close as though we'd meet;
what would they think of me, a sightseer?
Their shrine!

I tell my frayed nerves

The dread is eating me
Im scared of the impending doom

Words fall but my heart falls faster
