Koi

Coy you are.
I saw you be a
Koi in the pond
When you swam by me.
Coiling colors
In swaying reeds...
Then a duck came,
So I ducked in the trees.

Treasure Hunters

Like toy boats on a pond
The ducklings swam in precise line
One by One
They ducked down, bottoms up
Treasure Hunters
One held a fish in its mouth

Golf Day This Dad

You drove the ball high
It flew and touched the sky
I heard, “FORE!"
And ducked therefore
But the ball hit my thigh

Some of the things mom never knew happened;-)

Dorothy

There once was Glenda with slippers to share.
Dorothy liked better Prada devil’s pair.
She ducked behind Oz’s curtain
To do what is uncertain,
But the Lion put a crib in his lair.

Fred Fled

She had
 got mad

 and threw
 a shoe

 he tucked
 and ducked

 and ran
 from Jan

 Oh Fred
 she said

 you make
 me ache

 Allow
me now

To take
a break

Goodbye
 A sigh

Stagnant

In retrospect I tried to lie,
To hide the thing that lives inside.
I hoped in fact that it had died,
I see now I was wrong.

I slipped and dipped and ducked and dove.
I slept in every crevice cove.
Just like spider webs are wove.
I journeyed ten yrs gone.

Interrupting Two Black Panthers

I had never interrupted a black panther conversation before.
I stopped in my tracks, barely breathing.
Hoping neither of them had noticed me.
One of them had a sniffer high in the air.
I ducked behind a vine.
My heart was beating like a hummingbird’s wings.
I waited.

A Pond’s Melody

into melody
jumps the frog beyond the reel
slow dragonflies goosed and ducked

a lit symphony
campfires dance like sun and moon
in ripples of stone and wind

Unwanted Kisses

Delirious from mad fever,
he blew unwanted kisses from across the sea to the girl in his dreams.
She ducked and dived and hid
but his kisses just wouldn't stop
then she dressed a giraffe in sari
made the face up like a girl
and finally the real girl was free,
free from the the delirious mad fevered man's
unwanted kisses

bridge club barbie

Bridge club Barbie had her dance down well
The cards began flying up and down the hill
We ducked as the eight of clubs flew on past
She’s in a toot said her friend Willow Wast.

The seven of hearts went winging past my ear
I moved out of the way, for I was way too near
Bridge club Barbie was in a mood for sure.
Her partner’s bid was as awful as smelly manure

The Fight

Nantucket was a bully in town
And he pushed everyone around
From storekeepers to clerks
He had no special perps
Until he met Black-flag
Who gave him a special tag
Nantucket ducked and dodged
But Black-flag fist was too large
Nantucket was tag not once but twice
That changed him from nasty to nice
Right now, he’s a bully no more
Because Black-flag tossed him out the door

A Sore Loser

(This is a fictional poem)

When I was a child, I wasn't a good sport at losing.
I took a bat to the winning team and I gave them a good bruising.
The coach was so mad that he took a swing at me but I ducked.
I then hit him in the crotch with the bat and he was out of luck.
I would get pretty sore when I didn't win.
From that day on I was forbade from playing baseball again.

Their Circles

Running in the circles
Where I don’t belong
I should but don’t

I had a chance
But blew it
What went wrong

Obstacles in my path
Stopped me in my tracks
I hesitated

Way short
Of making the rank
I sat back

I ducked when
I could have
Should have jumped

Should have
Challenged myself
Went all the way

Could have
Been the best
I could have been

When Love Turns To Hate

Eventually you will find out,
why my feelings are in hibernation,
Opening the past is to sleep,
when dreams turn in the wrong direction,
I've tossed and turned,
dodged and ducked all the past nightmares,
The dreams are my life's memories,
entwined in sordid affairs,
Embossed on slate, my life's carvings,
for everyone to see, when love turns to hate,
To drink, it smother's the feelings,
discarding what was ment to be fate......

Kitchen Frights

An uncertain time,
light switch in the dark
whirr of wings,
unlocated -
swift hither, swifter thither
soft mousy leather.
Fledermaus,
Bat!

On the ceiling,
fridge top,
skitter of featherless wings
in the air a timid fear,
clinging now to a hook.

Throw open the screen door,
Circle back, head ducked,
flap towel
shout something, anything but yes.
Blurred flight zooms past left ear.

Put heartbeats
back into their drum,
make coffee.

Hog Mouth

Hurtling toward me was a messy, slimy mass
Of masticated food from a diner with no class!
Glancing off my head (I ducked!), it landed on poor old
Mama, right smack dab in the face. It slid, then rolled
Onto her lap. The offender saw her mopping her face.
Unabashed, he refilled and, without a trace of grace,
Talked, with cavernous mouth wide open, disgusting us all.
Henceforth, Food Flinger, cease showing such egregious gall.

The Poisonous Parrot

I was walking by some lilac trees
chanced upon a brightly coloured bird
a parrot it was, feathered purple and green
it flew at me and bit my head
I ducked and hit and spun
the parrot screamed a word
over and over again
it's claws were in my hair
it's beak pecked at my brow
Loser, Loser, cawed the fowl
laughing at my plight
I ran fast away down the path
but couldn't get myself free
I finally grabbed the purple fiend
and it vanished without a trace

Lumbered

Early in a damp woodsman's camp seeing sawyers from a logging town to stop the conversation bogging down as asked my age among other things I replied, 'Cut off my head and count the rings,' then had to be quick-witted and fast-footed made a bee-line through the trees so as not to lose my noggin when a burly lumberjack grabbed his axe I ducked and dodged his mighty swing which (in a nonce) saved my bacon (and my bonce) and them's the actual facts

An Exciting Adventure

Hiking was an exciting adventure,
climbing mountains piercing a summer's sky,
not looking back for the fear of falling, or think, " I'll die. "
but my grip had a formidable strength to entice texture.

I advanced as an army in a clashing battle field without a cloud,
stepping on sweet Williams hosting butterflies without thinking of their agony;
and hearing an eagle swoop, I ducked as the rope around
my wrist tightened, stopping my blood's flow...I felt that sense of vulnerability.
