Their Circles

Running in the circles
Where I don’t belong
I should but don’t

I had a chance
But blew it
What went wrong

Obstacles in my path
Stopped me in my tracks
I hesitated

Way short
Of making the rank
I sat back

I ducked when
I could have
Should have jumped

Should have
Challenged myself
Went all the way

Could have
Been the best
I could have been

Oh, the way not gone - don't do it, don't hit yourself with something you have to drag from the past to use; such wait doesn't belong in your NOW. NOT that I don't get this poem; oh, boy do I also have woulda's, coulda's, shouldas to NOT drag around. (still they pinch me sometimes.) Good Poem! CayCay

This poem is so beautiful for the warning it gives. It made me think to get in gear rather then wonder what "could have been"

The road not taken, we all know it and sometimes regret not travelling along it. It may have been wonderful or otherwise. We'll never know. Nicely written.

As we age we realize how unimportant those circle of friends can be. To be truly loved means being accepted as you are. Nicely expressed Line. : )

Thank you so much for your warm and considerate comment, Connie. In this particular case I was referring to professional circles. The path not taken.
Date: 4/1/2019 3:07:00 AM
The reasons why others accept us or don't are always inexplicable by any sort of logic, AND the reasons always keep changing! Unpredictable, impossible to guess, by remaining both of those things, 'circles' remain what they want to remain, CLOSED. That's okay. We just go elsewhere, where our love and goodness are appreciated.

I used to run in those circles, now I know my tribe, and I understand that it is great where I am. It has taken me many years to get here; this poem reminds me of the happiness I discovered in settling for myself.

Sometimes thoughts that run through our heads are worth acknowledging even if we disavow those thoughts immediately.

It's not how many times you fall down, it's how many times you get up. Nicely done.

Absolutely, David. I wish this had been my mantra when I was growing up.
