The Storm
Massing waves drummed offshore
Above them a partnered wind blew
Together they prepared to war
Against what I once knew
This dark and cold wet vastness
Brought forth my waterloo...

’Twas a drummer who drummed on his drum using two fingers and his right thumb. To an anapest’s ear, it would sound pretty clear; to the rest, lacked a certain aplomb.

Premium Member Santa Uses a Sleigh
Santa uses a sleigh
A race car!
A sled!
A tambourine!

How do you use a tambourine?
He drummed out a beat.
We mean to get around
To travel

Oh, that’s easy.
He has a limousine.
We are in ready-to-punch-each-other mode now
Just then Santa flies by under a helium balloon...

Premium Member Impacts of Oneness
Here, our love was first cast in impacts of oneness ~ ~
now mocking meadow grass clasps me, chained to numbness.

Vast tears rip me with shaking-grips of steady spill ~ ~
heartbreak and tears weaken me, beat from their drummed trill.

Retaliation
On the edge,
you receive the onslaught
of moonlight.

Drummed and sawed,
you take up the challenge
and move on.

In rains
the dreams wash the rainbow
inviting the Iris.

Tonight, you
will have an audience
will the estranged god.

A taper
in the sun wants its
place on the moon.

Noise
It randomly picked everything it could find,
turning them into drums and drum sticks.
The drums drummed themselves to the core
of our conscience' ears,
forcing us to look for earplugs across the stars,
and in our thoughts.
We played the drums as we searched for earplugs
in desperation......

The Last Flood
Massing waves drummed offshore
Above them a partnered wind blew
Together they prepared to war
Against what I once knew

The dark and cold green vastness
Carried forward my waterloo
Upon the rocks it did press
Against what I once knew

So when the gray shadowed the land
It darkened my final view
Soon the waves crossed the sand
And took all that I once knew...

The Last
Massing waves drummed offshore
Above them a partnered wind blew
Together they prepared to war
Against what I once knew

The dark and cold green vastness

Upon the rocks it did press
Against what I once knew

Then a gray shadowed the land
Coloring my thought of you
And as the waves broke across the sand
They removed all I once knew...

Angry Forest
With sharpened twig and jagged rock
the forest banded together to block
to block this intruder this maker of things
this creator of death that humankind brings
Rain drummed down the dancing trees
their war chants roused a wilder breeze
The man sat in a house of dead wood
safe in a meadow where forest once stood
was he really unaware of the forest's ire
or protecting himself by adding logs to his fire....

A Composer's Piece
More than what a melody brings
the two of us performing an art
Strumming on your heartstrings
A drummed beating of my heart
Produces a tone and rhythm
of a symphonic start
to a passionate fulfilled symmetry
A heartfelt sonata
Composing the perfect symphony
played by the complete orchestra
An infatuation of song
in tuned with cherubs above
To create a beautiful score
arranged with everlasting love...

Not Today
the heart aches
the heart cries
the heart loves
were you aware I was loving you
were you watching as I walked away
rain fell despite the sun shine
rolling thunder drummed across the sky
racing winds danced in the trees
for a moment there washope and peace
fallen silence hushes across the earth
the heart embraced it all
the heart let it go to set it free
the heart loved you once
     but no more
     not today...

The Eyes of Worship
Did you ever read
the hope in folks' eyes
when they worship?

It's like watching
the homeless
wait in line
for some pea soup!

I see that hope
as gigantic
as a big base drum
being drummed by
the deaf mute
who plays it
feeling its sound.

I hear that hope
in the low
of the cow
who runs to the farmer
as he feeds her.

Hope in worship
happily comes from
the desire to be
close with God
like we'll be
for eternity.

Ideology
We drove home on that Sunday. The summer I was twelve
it was hot, windows down
instructing me about freedom,
liberties, rights, never considered self.
A lager fixed firmly between your legs
as you drummed the steering wheel
in unison to oldies from the radio.
It was a 66' Ford pickup, green with the smell
of pride that hung from the rear view
swinging to the road. I remember
it was like a personality that was assigned
to you, which is not yours at all....

So Too Shall I Remain
In those moments where time slows
Where life pauses,
and breaths are more than simple motions
When the last light of day, gives way to the curtain of night
How in the darkest of hours, stars seem to shine like a million jewels against the void
What can be said of yesterday?
Found whole and wanting for none
Until the last beat is drummed, and all is put behind
As mountains stand unmoved,
and reeds sway along the softened shores
So too shall I remain....TAH...

Halloween’s Drummed!

Alien vampires hunt around the block,
Seeking abduction, plus feasting on prey
No trickery with haunt, just a soft shock.
Serious tracking to Vampires it’s play.
Delicately preparing this blood day
Striking their juglar rewarded a whiff
Cautionary. silent.. draining til stiff.
Slightly paralyzed delicately numbed
Halloween vampires come for a short jiff
Diabolical? Some say its quite drummed!

Premium Member You Are Not Lost
The seagulls flew above the sandy dunes
Soft grass played games in the wind
The ocean rolled notes into a song
The seagulls began to hop and sing
Freedom drummed with the flap of their wings
The colored sea shells watched from below
Tides of transition flowed into new beginnings waves unfold
The clouds watched from above, prompting new flights
Sunlight splashed sparkling stars across the water
A path emerged to remind anyone, you are not lost

Lifeless
Lifeless,

Where is the glow,

That once warmed my flesh.

Breathless,

What happened to the beat,

That once drummed in my chest.

Silent,

My voice has ended,

The song that once sang clear.

Broken,

I'm truly not a thing,

Without you near.

Bleeding,

From the cavern,

Where my heart once lay.

Dying,

By the time the sun is setting,

At the very end of the day.

Lifeless,

Without you here,

By my side.

Lifeless,

I am sure to die....

The Park: Memories
I still
    remember a
park I usually went to,
with a scent that made me
imagine of fairies, unicorns, and
   leprechauns.

Speaking of leprechauns,
I once saw a man who
quite looked like
one,
except the fact he was tall
and didn't carry a magic wand.

His eyes
looked as though they had seen
time's end of the chapter.

He seemed calm,
even when rain drummed
on his black, Victorian hat.........
